  1. Please CC every Knox fan who has never looked at an All State list. Myles was a Top 50 RB which means he is not on the All State team.
  2. A lot of injuries in conference this year, especially key offensive players on numerous teams. That led to the worst postseason in recent memory. Reminds me of 2013 when only four teams finished top 100. (only 8 teams then) 2013 63 Mater Dei 64 Castle 65 Reitz 98 Central 110 Bosse 117 Memorial 123 North 180 Harrison At least the bottom of the conference was competitive then. Next year shouldn't have those issues, as there will be at least 9 OOC connections before postseason.
  3. Butler commit Rylee Canaan leaves Memorial girls basketball program https://www.courierpress.com/story/sports/high-school/2025/11/29/butler-commit-rylee-canaan-leaves-evansville-memorial-girls-basketball/87010150007/ Thanks @1st_and_10. I didn’t know about the other transfers. Just the Memorial one mentioned in the Evansville paper. Curious to me is that her father said the decision was made after the loss to Plainfield last Saturday, the same day as the article. But “We have a few video calls today and tomorrow with these [prep] schools.” He then later mentions she may transfer to another local school. It will be interesting to see how this plays out.
  4. If my memory holds - the loudest critics of the 5 class system were the "small" 5A's. John Hart when he was at Evansville Reitz (5A at the time) complained relentlessly about matching up with Ben Davis, Center Grove, and Avon in regionals. I would say schools in the 1A-3A really didn't care too much, but the growing 4A's and small 5A's were adamant they should never be expected to compete with Ben Davis and Carmel in the playoffs.
  5. Smart scheduling on Boonville's part. And they will love the gate $$ from Week 5. Speaking of gate receipts. Providence will be thrilled hosting Harrison. They will get dozens of dollars. Might even hit triple digits.
  6. They also don’t have 6 classes and have a tournament that stretches a month and a half. I remember when football was the ONLY classed sport. I’m ok with football being different.
  7. Winner winner. Seeing how little effort is put in to field a competitive team at some schools, I know there would be less effort to find 3 opponents each year. As much as I would love the following: 10 game regular season. 7 games against sectional opponents 3 games against whoever you want Top 4 in each sectional make playoffs. Seeded by sectional record. And yes - I realize some adjustments would be needed for 5/6A and sectionals with only 7 teams.
  8. I’m aware how pro/rel works in English soccer or “football” as the Brits say. The big difference is that the level is set for the entire season. Whether Frankfort is 2A or 4A wouldn’t change weeks 1-9. They already play 1A schools weeks 1 & 2. I don’t know who is in their conference, but those opponents wouldn’t change. I’m more familiar with Ev Bosse, who is 2nd lowest in 4A Sagarin. SIAC opponents are 3A, 4A and 5A, even if they were in a lower class for playoffs. Are you suggesting schedules should change yearly with class to make pro/rel more effective?
  9. Thanks. I saw Roncalli had a returner back for a short kick but wasn’t sure. It is really a gutsy place on the field for any kind of fake. What a play.
  10. Just watched the replay. Does Dwenger’s kicker really have a 54 yard leg?
  11. Radio announcer just said Andrean ran consecutive ‘Tush Push’ plays. One of my pet peeves. Not every QB sneak is a tush push. Which isn’t even legal in HS football.
  12. I don’t know if anyone follows the state to our west - but Illinois had to postpone today’s 5A - 8A games due to severe winter weather. They were supposed to be played outdoors at Illinois State in Normal. Another thing - because they try to squeeze in a 4th game, the 4A game kicked off at 7:50 and ended at 10:50PM. (1A started at 10 AM.) So even though I think IHSAA could improve the Lucas Oil postgame, they still run a better state finals weekend than Illinois.
  13. 3A South was so much deeper than the north this year.
  14. Happy Thanksgiving to all! Just wish I could watch the games this weekend on broadcast/cable TV.
  15. 1. I personally think a state finals appearance - win or lose - is something worth celebrating. 2. At least Roncalli is close to Lucas Oil 3. Shame on the IHSAA for not allowing parents and families of players somewhere to interact post game. I can’t speak to Andrean, Merrillville, Dwenger, etc. fans, but when Evansville schools play at Lucas - there is plenty of extended family, friends, from out of town. Some even live in the Indianapolis area. “Congrats on the great season Johnny. But your older sister/brother and aunt who live in Carmel won’t get to see you after the game. They at least get to watch in person for the first time, but they’re not driving back 2.5 hours to see you at the school gym afterwards.”
  16. I don’t see how the SA play was legal. 1st down - wide toss to the NM sideline. Player is tackled. Wing toss the ball to the umpire who places it down. Perhaps I don’t understand what ‘Ready for Play’ means. But as the umpire sets the ball, you can see the SA player 1 step off and sideline. Furthermore, two coaches are in the Restricted area at the snap.
  17. Remind me of the voting process. Teams nominate X players based on conference standings. Any player nominated is either voted to the team or ends up honorable mention. Is that correct? I think I like that process.
  18. Just watched this play. Pretty egregious call. Completely missed by the officiating crew.
  19. Not sure which, but it appears Merrillville or Andrean will have the longest drive to Lucas Oil. Given that it's 2+ hour drive and they are Central (losing an hour), will Andrean stay over the night before?
  20. Listening to the Bash. Nice of the Cascade fans to thank the announcers for all the extra motivation this week.
  21. Yes it was. Absolute mud bowl. By the end of the game both teams looked like they were wearing black jerseys. I think Luers led or it was tied at half. West Lafayette was just a beast that year. Karlaftis got all the press rightfully so, but they had athletes all over the field.
  22. Great season by Knox. But their really soft schedule is finally rearing its ugly head.
  23. Does that radio station stream? There used to be "where to listen/watch" thread on here during playoff time, but I guess the poster is no longer around or I just missed it. I did finally find a game recap on The Dearborn Register - which I think only posts/prints a few times a week. I like this quote from Coach Knigga. Perhaps it's my cynical nature, but coaches generally only mention officiating when it is/was a point of contention.
  24. I saw the headline come across my newsfeed. I'm glad it got moved to Paycor. But I did see that there were some unintended consequences. Mason HS, which is not one of the schools playing, but a neutral host, seems to be the big loser. Close to $10,000 worth of concessions had been purchased in anticipation of a 7,000 - 8,000 person crowd in attendance. Mason student groups - Band, Student Council, etc. was hoping to bring in several thousand dollars worth of profit to help fund their activities this year. I'm guessing they can't start selling them at Paycor, so they miss out. A minor thing, but just something I never considered.
  25. Are there any P/P's in the bottom 32? I would rather see 1A be the smallest 32, which might take alleviate some of the P/P issue. I feel like during the Lutheran, Providence, and Covenant runs, they were all near the top of 1A by size - which would fit them in 2A with only smallest 32. I'm not sure about LCC, but @foxbat probably knows. Overall I think SF has been positive. But I wonder if the Sheridan/Zachery run or the Pioneer/Kiser Mr. Football in 2018 happen if the current SF was in place.
