I hit submit before I could add that, but agreed. At least most of those are local and with your HS team. You just have to go out of state to find good baseball teams, or so I have been told. I guess Dubois county doesn’t count??

Football encourages multi sport athletes, yet is the sport that seems to ‘give’ more than any other. I mean, who’s to say which of the 16U Gold Silver Elite Prep Baseball Showcase events is more important than the other 7 ones?

IHSAA Futures (Insert Your Own)

Your numbers add to 59.5. The SIAC is guaranteed to go 45-45 the first 9 weeks, which means 14.5 of those would come from playoffs. That would be an interesting prop bet as well: 14.5 playoff wins for the SIAC. I would have to think about that one. -

I can see the appeal for Anderson. If I were in administration at any lower level football school - Marian, Anderson, Franklin, UIndy - I would want as many people on campus over summers as possible. It makes sense for Anderson since they hosted the Colts training camp for so many years. -
Mooresville Pioneers 7on7 tournament

The Colts are hosting a 7 on 7 this coming Saturday the 19th. It has traditionally been the 3rd Saturday in June (exc. 2020 obviously). I assume they wanted to avoid that conflict. -
That’s a pretty impactful story - if true. I wonder why it hasn’t been picked up by any news outlet? I need more than a vague bit of information about a Facebook post before I will speculate.

It’s now Facebook official, as new Head Coach Kelly Brashear is posting from the Pike Central football Facebook page. I’m not sure if this was the name you had heard or not. I assume it isn’t, but did not know. Regardless, best of luck to Coach Brashear and the Chargers.

There is white smoke above the Fish Hut in Petersburg, which means they have a new coach!

Finally after switching to a computer instead of mobile I could see it. Sheesh. So many thoughts that have already been made in this thread that I agree with. My biggest issue is the camerawork - although not for the reasons Tanka mentioned. 🙂 Like Titan said, they got the action shot they wanted. No coaching of technique, position, and the presence of the emojis pretty much assures me the video was not being taken for review/coaching purposes. I hate to judge situations where I don't have all the information, but I would be embarrassed if this were my league, team, or coaching staff. Give me those four agility pads, two hand shields, and the heavy round dummy the coach is leaning on and I can set up a safer and more game-like drill than this.

Is it just me, or do those alignment make too much sense? I forgot we were talking IHSAA, so I guess it makes TOO much sense? Center Grove a southern school? Not to us. As we drive up I-69/ 37 (in non-construction times) we mark the Stones Crossing/37 intersection as the "hey, we've made it to Indy" point. LOL

Quick thoughts: Two THREE team sectionals in 6A. Whaaat?? Chatard moved into Roncalli's sectional. Shocked! I tell you. Shocked! WeBo taking Chatard's spot in sectional 28. And don't look now - but the IHSAA notes teams that have been "relegated down" due to success factor. Are we that far from an English Premier league relegation/promotion? (Not a serious question. But I've never seen the relegation word before.)

Games are not won and lost on the field. They are determined by who looks best on Twitter, right? #HashtagGoesHere

There is no such thing as a 'kicker' number, so the explanation was bogus or poorly communicated to the point you misunderstood it. The question I always wonder is how far below varsity should the numbering rules be enforced? I would hope all HS games would be by the book. You mention it was a middle school game. That always makes things tough, IMO, as the jerseys may be hand-me-downs, or many years between purchases. And with various sizes of players and jerseys in that group, sometimes you get oddities. Watching my son's peewee tackle games can drive my OCD tendencies nuts - watching number 14 play Center while 57 plays TE and goes out for passes. I don't think it makes a big difference at the 3/4th grade level. But if I saw the same number schemes in an 8th grade game, I would think it's fair game for an opposing coach to ask the referee about it.

A starter from a school in one conference tweeted yesterday that he has a new school - a team in another conference. Both his previous school and new school have been projected to compete for their respective conference championships in the fall.
-
I heard some rumors, but I at least waited until it was Twitter official. LOL It could potentially impact the top of two conference standings.

Looks like Gibson Southern has a great recruiting class coming in. 🙂

Should something be done to fix 6A?
oldtimeqb replied to Bears62's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Disclaimer: I can count on one hand the number of times I travel to Indianapolis in one year. So this question is from unfamiliarity and not a loaded one. What's the difference between Warren Central and Tech? Is it because one is a township school and the other is part of IPS? Is it an inside vs outside 465 issue? I agree socioeconomics play a big part in all extra-curriculars, including football. The latest stats I pulled on Inview show 69% of Tech students and 61% of Warren students are economically disadvantaged. That 8% alone doesn't seem to explain the difference between the schools which are less than 10 miles apart.
