  1. Wouldn't that be a success factor double-whammy? Chatard would bump up with a regional win, and Southridge would stay up with a regional win as well.
  2. Intriguing premise, although I don't think there would be much there if you looked at all the teams/data. One question. Why is state champions and runners-up your barometer of success? By that measure, only 12 teams each year have success, while some 300+ are unsuccessful. Our own flawed success factor currently lists winning a sectional in consecutive years as "successful enough" to keep a team at a higher class. For example, an EVSC (Evansville) school has 12 Sectional 24 championships since 2007 (all but 2).
  3. It’s been at least two times that I have noticed over the last 2 days Geared towards Anonymous hacker group events.
  4. North Knox runs an offense similar to what RC runs. Football is a copycat sport and coaches are known thieves of plays, formations, schemes, etc. My assumption is that he is saying they learned a few things playing a well-coached team like RC. Running certain plays out of certain formation, blocking schemes vs D-lineman, setting up a counter by running a particular play the play before - all of those things can be gained from playing good competition and watching the game film. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
  5. Are the mechanics the same for kickoff and punt? Out of curiosity, what are they? Bean bag a catch, muff, or fumble by R? Or does the bean bag only indicate first touching by K? I feel like I have seen one thrown before, more specifically on punts, but I don't know what it indicates.
  6. I think this is where the health departments are missing the data to justify their behaviors. MLB, NFL, and now college football. That’s a lot of competitions without a case of opponent to opponent transmission. (At least I have not heard of one documented case.) Teammates. Locker rooms, bus/plane rides, coaches and support staff. Plenty of evidence of spread through those means. I have not seen competition spread.
  7. 😂 As a shocker to no one, I’ve seen a fight break out on the sideline amongst members of a 7-8 coach peewee staff. Like a scene straight from Friday Night Tykes.
  8. By my count - there's at least 8 'coaches' for that Pee Wee team in red. That's the start of the problem right there LOL.
  9. If the "new" North (how long can we use that phrase?) had not been built, I could see some migration from northern Vanderburgh County heading that way. I think the population shift from Princeton south and north from Evansville to the county will stabilize with two good schools there. And re-classifications don't happen in a vacuum either. GS would have to add 100 or so students AND need 10-12 schools above them to decrease enrollment.
  10. The Calpreps ratings show the problems with the closed conference, in terms of computer ratings. http://calpreps.com/2020/ratings/Indiana_league.htm Scroll down to Southern Indiana Notice the ratings mirror exactly the final standings, with the exception of Castle being slightly ahead of Memorial. Since their game with 0-9 Bosse was not played, Castle actually has the highest schedule strength rating and the best Opponents W-L record. Central has the weakest schedule, while Bosse has the same as Castle (since they couldn't play themselves either.) I'm not sure if this week - Lincoln, Mater Dei, Memorial, and Bosse will be enough to add some connections in any rating system. But by week 2 when Central/Jasper play Boonville and the 5A teams play it will hopefully be enough. If Lincoln and Mater Dei can advance to their respective finals as well (2 wins vs out of conference) then things will hopefully normalize.
  11. If we get a "normal" summer next year it's on our list of places to visit again. The youngest keeps requesting another Busy Bee trip. It just has to be a planned trip - we can't just stop by on our way to somewhere. LOL
  12. “One of Indiana’s Top 5 Little Cities” I’m sorry. But I’m gonna need to see the double-blind, peer reviewed study backing up that claim. 😂😂
  13. Don’t sell yourself short, Judge. You’re a terrific slouch.
  14. Thanks for the info. I was mainly talking about the Central @ Jasper first round game. Dubois County (Jasper) has had 50% capacity (approx 2,500 fans) earlier in the year. Vanderburgh and Warrick Counties (where Central and 8 of 10 SIAC teams play) have had 500 or 750. For a team that can feed off a crowd, playing in front of large, vocal fan base can make emotions run higher than normal. It may not make a difference, but I was just wondering if it might.
  15. The sectional championship is determined by the team that ‘has played the most away games.’ The rules say nothing about home games. If a game is cancelled, then it wouldn’t matter where the game was supposed to be played.
  16. What will attendance be like this Friday? Is 50% capacity still allowed? Most years, the regular season produces 2-3 'big games' with large crowds and teams can adjust to the atmosphere by playoff time. I don't think Central has played in front of more than 750 fans this year. I wonder if the home field crowd will factor into the game? It might ramp up the emotional level or it might have no impact at all. Just something I have been wondering since I saw the sectional draw.
  17. 1. Roca Bar North 2. Turoni's Forget me Not 3. Turoni's downtown 4. Roca Bar Kentucky Ave 5. Turoni's Newburgh - do they serve pizza there, or just cake?? LOL
  18. Warren Central vs. Brownsburg could have been a good game. But with no playoff qualification and no seeding implications, it would have been a meaningless game... or so I have been told. 😀
  19. Illinois pretty much plays all playoff games on Saturdays, except for a few Friday night games around Chicago in the first and second rounds. My family members there talk about the special atmosphere of earning the right to play on Saturdays because that meant you made the playoffs. (Not to open that can of worms.) But yes, semi state definitely could be Saturday doubleheaders (3pm and 7pm) at neutral sites. One reason most coaches don’t like Saturday games is that they think their opponents who play on Friday get an extra day of game prep on them. Everybody playing Saturday changes that equation.
  20. It's all on Twitter nowadays.... "barstool" Twitter accounts are one of the worst creations of social media.
  21. Agreed. In a similar vein, I could see an underclassmen varsity player coming back from injury playing a quarter or so to get some 'live reps' and I would have no problem with it. I will have to say within reason of course and each situation would be different depending on the player/opponents. Basically treating a JV game like the NFL treats the preseason... a few series and be done. Different sport, but I remember being a 14 year old freshman digging in against an all-conference pitcher throwing 90mph in a JV game. He had been injured and started the JV game as part of his rehab, throwing 1 inning and then went to run foul poles in the OF during the rest of the game.
  22. I’ve known some smaller schools (2-4A) that have used a few seniors on JV so that they could still field 3 teams and not have to pull up freshman. If the choice was no JV game or use some seniors, I see no problem with it. In fact I would say it’s a pretty selfless act by the seniors to put the future of the program and their underclass teammates above their own egos. That is something commendable, IMO.
  23. I agree with this. It looks like East Central has to travel to Mooresville again this year, which makes them slightly favored, IMO.
  24. Assuming I have my bracket calibrations correct - if Forest Park, Mater Dei, and Reitz (vs winless Ev Harrison) all win week 1, the FP/MD game will be played somewhere other than the Bowl.
  25. I thought I could let this go. But I opened the can of worms, so it's my fault. I just don't believe in science, right? There is no evidence supporting my viewpoints. There's no scientific basis for lowering isolation time to 7 days instead of 14. That crazy French government must not believe in science either. https://www.thelancet.com/journals/lanpub/article/PIIS2468-2667(20)30235-8/fulltext The above is a commentary, so of course it's not peer-reviewed, but I do want to quote one part of it: Feel free to read the science in those peer-reviewed studies cited in that paragraph. There are plenty more out there stating basically if you don't get it within 7 days and you if you do have SARS-COV2 you won't transmit it to others after 7 days, absent a fever. I do agree that close contacts should be tested 5 days after exposure, because that is the mean & median incubation period. You recommend it as a way to game the system... i.e. they won't get contact traced again. That isn't based on science, that's based on guessing the outcome of throwing a loaded die. And don't worry, those students will have antibodies...based on science. I also got my flu shot this week. Because based on statistical evidence, it's deadlier to me and every member of my household. Yay, science! Just because my opinion is different than yours doesn't make it unintelligent or uninformed.
