Why would it be conflicting? Notre Dame Football fans root for Notre Dame football. They aren’t playing IU’s basketball team are they? And I’ve lost interest in a 9th place B10 football team to even care.
-
And reversible jacket isn’t?
-
I don’t see the logic in a Wal-Mart Wolverine fan from a different state chiding a resident of Indiana for rooting for local teams in different sports.
-
Brother, you root for Michigan lol. Who are you to lecture about fandom? Is a reversible jacket fan any worse than a bandwagon/front-runner fan?

2023 Purdue Boilermakers/2024 Purdue/ 2025 Purdue/2026 Purdue

Really? From everything I've heard Helton appears to be the front runner -
Most favorable in order 1. Tennessee 2. Penn State 3. Notre Dame 4. Texas/Georgia 5. Ohio State IU is slotted to play Georgia as it stands but I don't see how that's possible. Georgia is either going to beat Texas and move into the 2 seed and get a bye or they'll lose and drop a line or two. Penn State stands to drop the furthest this week especially if they lose big. A 10-2 Penn State should drop below Ohio State factoring in H2H. Assuming Oregon beats Penn State, I believe IU will be the 10 seed playing 7 seed Penn State if Georgia wins or will be the 9 seed playing Tennessee if Texas wins.

Nah not really. Mt Vernon has a D1 kid committed to Purdue (Luke Ertel who lives in Lawrence Township and attended CYO grade school in Indianapolis) and would have been a very formidable contender this year had these two brothers not transferred out. Mt Vernon also had a kid a few years back (Jake Davis Mercer/now at Illinois) elect to go to Cathedral after attending Mt Vernon schools K-8. Pete Werner also attended Mt. Vernon his freshman/sophomore year before transferring to Cathedral way back when. Think Mt. Vernon is simply sick of losing kids to Cathedral and this move by the principal was a future deterrent.
-
I'll never forget when Jordan Walker and Eron Gordon both transferred from North Central to Cathedral after their sophomore years. Both schools signed off on the transfers and were immediately eligible to play. The IHSAA took one look at the last name Gordon and put their foot down. Didn't give a second thought to Walker who actually ended up being the better player of the two in college.

It's hypocrisy. The best athlete at Mt Vernon is a Lawrence Township kid who went to a CYO school through 8th grade. He has several older siblings who were D1 athletes that all took the same path. Lawrence Township kids, primarily from the affluent Geist area, have been jumping county lines for years to play at Mt Vernon.

6A Tournament Discussion

Westfield and Brownsburg are definitely Metro-Indy. I consider Marion and all the surrounding counties as part of Metro-Indy, however I believe the official Metro-Indy consensus includes all of Marion and the donut counties as well as Brown, Tipton, Morgan, and Shelby counties. -

In Columbus for the biggest IU game of all-time and saw Westfield beat Crown Point 30-7? Yikes -

Penalties and turnovers finally reared its ugly head for Lawrence North. Credit to Brownsburg for hanging in there and having the stones to go for 2 at the end, but always thought LN's biggest obstacle would be themselves. I'm rolling with Center Grove for here on out. Lawrence North probably the only team left whop can outscore the Trojans and they are no longer alive. CG playing its best football as of late. -
Success breeds success, what's new there? I'm talking about tampering and transferring running rampant here in central Indy...with public schools being the biggest offenders. Kids playing at multiple schools over 4 years. A kid living on one side of town playing for a high school on the other side of town. Kids jumping county lines to play sports. Kids following AAU coaches. It's happening everywhere.

Carmel Job open

It's still exists although vaunted isn't the word I'd use anymore. -
Carmel Job open
Footballking16 replied to Footballking16's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
I believe Carmel needs a complete reset. Have heard horror stories of total dysfunction in the youth leagues and feeder programs with retention being the worst its ever been. Carmel needs a grinder. The enrollment gap between Carmel and the rest of 6A has closed, no longer can they just lineup on Friday and expect to win as evident to these last few seasons. Carmel is very good job and a very high rewarding one at that, but it's much bigger than simply X's and O's. -
Carmel Job open

Carmel shouldn’t handcuff themselves to a local search radius here. This job should attract coaches from all over the place. -
Per the IndyStar, Coach John Herbert as resigned. https://www.indystar.com/story/sports/high-school/2024/11/13/2-time-ihsaa-state-champion-coach-john-hebert-resigns-from-carmel-high-school-job/76270714007/ Herbert had a great run at Carmel, but safe to say these last few seasons have been wildly underwhelming if not downright unacceptable. Carmel is still one of the best jobs in the state, if not the entire Midwest. I’m not sure of the forum rules of commenting on speculative candidates so will wait for a mod to chime in, but Carmel should have plenty of suitors both locally and nationally, and depending on how committed they are could land a whale.

To expand on this, here are Sagarin ranks of each of these teams. -Crown Point (3) -Merrillville (10) -Carroll (15) -Snider (21) -Warsaw (25) -Penn (29) -Elkhart (33) -Homestead (50) This hypothetical conference easily becomes one of the best conferences in the state only behind the HCC and MIC and you could make a case it's more competitive top to bottom than the MIC. -

I still maintain that the better 6A Northern schools need to form some type of conference, even if it's for football only. -Crown Point -Penn -Elkhart -Snider -Homestead -Carroll Could add 5A schools like Valpo, Merrillville, and/or Warsaw but this at least leaves you some flexibility schedule wise to maintain old rivalries or play Indy area schools and schools from MI/IL/OH. -
Harbaugh isn’t eligible to coach in college until August 2028 after his 4 year show-cause penalty for level 1 infractions has expired.

They have 4 or 5 high end teams that can compete nationally and produce on average more top end talent than Indiana. But like Indiana, there's only one big metropolitan area in the state. -

They also beat Brownsburg, Cathedral, and Center Grove as well as Cincinnati Moeller who was a large class state finalist in Ohio. I don't think Crown Point would have beaten any of those teams.
