  1. Roncalli just stopped selling tickets. Other schools too?
  2. I think they still give give 10 Mr. Football by positional awards.
  3. It is good to see Hobart back playing for a title. Good luck on Friday and hope for an injury free game. If you look at the 16 champs and this team, you will see a common theme for the Roncalli teams: great OL play. i think this OL may be better and looks bigger. They all come back next year and they pick up a 6’5” 300lb fella who started as a SO and hurt his knee against Chatard. Watched the Hobart semistate game. Not sure they can handle Roncalli up front.
  4. 2nd awarded was an OL. I think mainly because he was an IU commit.
  5. You made me look because that was the team that ended my playing days. yep, he coached that team.
  6. Big question: Is Mooresville QB back? He left in he first half vs Central and did not return.
  7. About what year did this happen?
  8. Holy smokes that is a huge class.
  9. Legends are always tough to replace. Hobart did not win a sectional for 20 years after Don Howell retired. Franklin Central won 4 state titles from 1980-1990 and was runner up 3 times under Chuck Stephens and has won 1 sectional since. (Rise of Warren Central has not helped)
  10. They are just in a different one (Lafayette not Indy) as are several of the North side grade schools.
  11. Curious, does GC follow this practice? Wondering since they are not in the Archdiocese.
  12. One more thing to consider is that there are a few parishes that do not have schools but still field CYO teams. Both are North Side parishes that are pretty large. (St. Elizabeth Seaton and Holy Spirit Geist.)
  13. They are parish based. Most of the kids who play will be in the school. (My south side parish for example.) When my son was an 8th grader, we had 2 kids out of 13 on his Cadet football team that did not attend the school. They have to be registered members of the parish. We get a couple of home schooled parish kids in various sports every year, but more this year for obvious reasons. The kids who do not attend school tend to drop in 7th and 8th grade as this is when the local middle school sports start. My brother is on the school commission at a Chatard feeder and told me the other day that only about 20% of the North Deanery kids go to Chatard. He said they lose a lot to North Central.
  14. Chatards SO class is not your typical Chatard. Roncalli SO Class beat them 30-6 as FR and game was not that close. Roncalli JV also won this year with 4 of the SO lineman starting varsity.
  15. Roncalli Junior and Sophmore classes are loaded Three CYO Cadet football champions in those grades. The lineman In those classes are good. Last year I counted the roster and there were maybe 5 senior OL/DL Hard to win with young lines The Leffler kid comes from a very athletic family. Grandpa was coach at Scecina and Dad was on state championship team there. He is going to own every Roncalli passing record by the time he leaves. So will the JR WR. there is a bug drop off at this year’s FR class, but it looks like a solid 3 year run coming. I would agree the coaching change may have also contributed.
  16. Just watched Mooresville kick to win on Twitter. Sounds like Central is playing stadium horn during kick?
  17. After Central called TO on first kick that he missed. Gave kicker a free warm up kick.
  18. Well they have udpated them and he is over 1K yards.
  19. They got a nice FR running back who used to play baseball with my son. Played all his JR High ball in the Franklin Central (6A) school system where he was the star. Seems to have been getting a lot of carries, but then TC stopped updating stats on MaxPreps.
  20. Throw Castle in there with Snyder. Thought they would have won more since they ran into Center Grove a couple of times and 6A took CG out of the way.
  21. Not sure how it works, but my MD team in 89 played back to back weekends at Monrovia and Triwest. Stayed in Cloverdale both weekends. Rumor was IHSAA payed for some of travel fees, but not positive.
  22. Most of the time WC adn BD maybe had one IPS school in 5A/6A (Tech) in their path. Most of the schools were in the smaller divisions. Part of the point is that they are the only HS in their township (school system) and have enormous enrollments. I hear comments about Perry schools being split into Perry Meridian and Southport. They would be BD/WC/Carmel size if a single HS.
  23. Just saying I came up with 14 titles in multiple school school districts.
  24. 2 HSE Fishers 3 Columbus East 4 FW Snider (3) and Wayne 1 Lawrence Central
