1973, Bloomington High School, no North or South back then. Bloomington HS had won 60 games in a row and this was the first year for a playoff in Indiana. Bloomington HS almost had more coaches than Cathedral had players, or so it seemed. It was really cold that night as it usually is when you make a long playoff run. The opening kickoff was run back by Cathedral's Vince Gaughn and the Irish went out to a lead with another score shortly thereafter. Anyway the Irish won the game 32-28 and broke Bloomington's long winning streak. It was a fun ride back home!
The Irish played at School Field the next week for the 3A championship. They were beaten by South Bend Washington 19-13 in a tight battle.
