  1. I'd be interested to know why the Irish aren't playing St. X this season. The Irish have played St. X almost every year since the late '90's. I have attended every game of the series. The results are lopsided, somewhat, but most of the games were very competitive. I don't believe the Irish have played at LaSalle since 1999, when Otis Shannon rushed for 489 yards in a 34-24 Irish win. Looking forward to seeing that one if we can make it past the road construction on I74. We may have to hit the side roads. It's been sometime since the Irish played at Columbus North also.
  2. Thanks for that advice. Yeah, I've been there before, albeit many years ago. Hope you're doing well!
  3. Looking forward to the short trip south next Friday night.
  4. Cathedral has brought it back. We have some help from alum that have a lawn business (Turf Dogs) and they have done a masterful job not only refurbishing the field but also maintaining it. A grass field has never been so good!☺️
  5. BTW, the KofC trophy, presented to the winner of this game, has some age on it, but it's still an impressive trophy.
  6. Thanks to those posting the freshman and jv scores. It's greatly appreciated by this old Irish fan. It's tough for me to get out on Saturday morning after climbing all those steps at Arlington.😉
  7. Well, the Irish win another ugly one 32-29. It hasn't been much fun watching the Irish the first two games. BTW, the same punting situation just happened in the Navy/Air Force game. The punter was in the air and hit and a personal foul was correctly called. The punter, as much as the QB, should be protected.
  8. I rest my case! Buchner is what the Irish need!
  9. This 78 year old Irish fan watched the game from row 20 at Arlington last night. In front of me was a 92 year old Irish fan. Best of luck to the Trojans for the remainder of the season.
  10. Bob, the extra threat of the QB run is not there. Book gave them that element last season He's a fine pocket passer, but has trouble scrambling and throwing on the run. Stats don't always tell the full story.
  11. IMO, he's playing quite well. A side story. I was surprised that they were not accepting cash for the scrimmage at Franklin Central. While a student was trying to help me get a phone ticket the Kendalls walked up and said "we have five tickets, come on in with us." I sure was glad for their help.
  12. This Irish alum will never sell Chatard short. It will be a typical north side battle. I hope to see a lot of Irish fans at Arlington tonight, but please don't come until I'm parked up close.😉
  13. Not the best Irish effort but he would have probably gotten a penalty for the roughing the kicker if the official didn't know he blew that one. Momentum is everything in sports, especially in the 4th quarter of a football game.
  14. The defense was on the field the entire fourth quarter. Mostly because the offense didn't move the ball and one of the worst the worst homer calls you'll ever see. When a punter is drilled and knocked to the ground that's a personal four and an Irish first down. It was just as bad as the pick play call a few years back.
  15. Notre Dame wins! 41 yard field goal. 41-38 final Lots of things to work on next week.
  16. It was a momentum changer. If it's called correctly it's Notre Dame ball! Possession means everything in the 4th quarter especially. The Irish need to look at another QB next week against Toledo. Coan just isn't very mobile.
  17. If that wasn't a personal foul I'll eat my shoes! It was called running into the kicker! It seems there's always a pivotal officiating call that goes against the Irish when they play in the state of Florida. It's not a coincident! This may not end well for the Irish!
  18. That shopping mall is quite full including a Walmart neighborhood market. I don't have any insight into the dealings with the Arlington field, but I would imagine it would include some dealing with IPS. The situation is now OK as some Cathedral alumni have pitched in to keep the field playable. It would be ideal for Cathedral to be able to own the field and cover it with field turf, but for now it's not a bad situation.
  19. One other positive, albeit a personal one, the game started at 7:30 and I was home on the west side of Indy, Ben Davis area, at 10PM. I like those 2 hour games!
  20. Game time is 7PM Friday night. It's always interesting when Catholics play Catholics.
  21. It looks like Markese is pretty much in the same situation as he was at USC. I'm sure Markese's family is not too happy about that.
  22. I find some mascots obnoxious or a bit corny, but never scary. It would be interesting to meet those who find Pete, or any mascot, scary. They must be living a real sheltered life.
  23. The Civil War has been over for a long time, at least for most of us.😉
