Bremen qb fumbled along pioneers sideline and pioneer scooped and went to score but there was an inadvertent whistle from the ref on Bremen’s sideline. Instead of granting pioneer the fumble at the end of the play they gave Bremen the opportunity to replay the down instead.

Pioneer only has ~30 kids total on the team, with only about half of that number to see the field in a varsity game. Most of our guys play both ways and on special teams. Completely agree with you though that this will be an extremely physical game, and whoever wins this game will probably be in for a harder hitting game next week.

I think Bremen has a very good chance of beating the Panthers this week. Pioneer will have to find a way to match up with the physicality of Bremen if they want to stand a chance. I think it will be an extremely physical game throughout and will come down to who makes the fewest mistakes and who can capitalize on those mistakes. Judson is going to roll the Warriors in my opinion, but Coach H will have them prepared.

Where does LCC need to advance to bump to 2A next year?

Doesn't necessarily keep us on our heels but we'll need to be prepared for both. I thought their best stuff was when they were in wishbone several years ago, and lately it seems like they run a little bit of everything trying to find an identity. I will respectfully disagree on the twins not liking contact. I have seen both of them take some hellacious hits and come back the next play harder than they had prior.

I will be curious to see which Laville offense comes out. The ground and pound they were able to employ against Cass was drastically different than what they ran against Knox a few weeks ago where they could have passed on every play if they wanted to. It will be a great game and atmosphere and both teams will be ready to play come kickoff. The real question is will Laville's concession stands be doing anything different for Friday night. I will say, I was highly disappointed at North Judson a couple weeks ago when I found out they weren't doing their steak sandwiches at the game a couple weeks ago.

Does Coach H run offense, defense, both or neither? I know some heads like to focus one direction or the other and have a coordinator for the opposite, while some guys have multiple coordinators and are a general supervisor at practice.

Don't generally see much talk on here for most of these teams. If you have any input please provide. Most intriguing matchup in round 1 to me is that LaVille Cass game. Cass's record is deceiving with the high level of competition they have played this year.

Don’t have any brothers Sherlock, but nice try... Also, at Pioneer we don’t wait for the classes 5 to 10 years down the road to start winning games. Get excited about youth league and jr high scores all you want... Those leagues are for teaching fundamentals, not win-loss records. If our freshman come in knowing wing t fundamentals and how to get to the ball on defense I’m a happy camper. We know the conference is going to be more competitive in the coming years. Judson is going to be a problem next year. Hendryx will get Winamac turned around. Laville has a great young qb and a lot of youth getting valueable reps this year. I’ll still take the Panthers 🙂 Im done on this subject for now you know what they say about arguing with idiots....

Honestly don’t remember what I said or when I said it. Why would I quit though? The next few years are going to be a lot of fun as a coach getting to see the next reload of Panthers. We were supposed to be “down” after the seniors in 15 graduated. We were supposed to be “down” after Jack’s class graduated and still were able to run the table in conference. Will we be a different team after this season? Absolutely we will, it would be ignorant to say otherwise. We’ll be losing a senior class that has been a part of 2 state championship teams. However, we always have guys step up and our staff will always have our kids prepared for whoever we’re playing. I personally don’t coach to win conference titles or have “moral victories” like some of our friends in the HNAC. Maybe I’ve been spoiled by our recent success, but for me any goal less than a state title is settling. I coach because I love this team and the tradition we have. We have great kids and a staff that is family. I’m gonna be here for a loooooooonnnnngggg time.

I don’t see the jays being able to sustain drives and march up and down the field. They have a solid rushing attack, but this Panther team is a different animal compared to anyone else the jays have played.
