  1. How is the SAC getting out of the closed conference? The SIAC (Evansville) is currently in a closed conference schedule. It's hard to gauge and correlate it with tournament success, but the big-class schools are not winning as many games as they were previously, while Mater Dei keeps doing Mater Dei type things...
  2. Oak Hill in Ohio posted about its 60-player strong freshman football team. How big is your freshman squad? Does funding impact how many players you can keep? What is the best non-varsity formula to fill the depth charts?
  3. Back to the old days of Saturday road trips for tape exchanges on little abandoned highways in Nowheresville, Indiana. Interesting tales about games being (poorly) recorded over home videos, coaches "forgetting" to fix the tracking so the provided film was partially unviewable, and lists of coaches/programs who were not exactly forthright in exchanging decent quality films.
  4. USI has been able to routinely beat or stay with Evansville in MBB over the past decade. We'll see... SW Indiana has experienced a disproportionate amount of HS baseball success over the past decade and deep ties to USI. We'll see. It's not the big sports where I expect USI to have trouble... it's with the women's and secondary sports. Additionally, USI will have to solve the attendance issues which UE experiences. Perhaps USI is better equipped to do so because of a larger student body, but. We'll see.
  5. CR 600 S should run east to west 0.6 mi south of the county seat or other designated "meridian." At least it's in the same county. I've never understood why Hamilton extends the Marion Co. blocks into its county and I was born near 96th & Keystone.
  6. Benbow inserting herself into a racial equality was a real doozy on Sunday! I bet she didn't break the rule of "making the story about you" because the story was impossible to tell in any other way ... just like she didn't do it for selfish reasons.
  7. And I thought 296th Street intersecting with SR 31 N was a joke in northern Hamilton County.
  8. No. The Star is home to the most professional journalists. They would never compromise journalistic standards for the sake of getting a angle for clickbait. USA Today/Gannett loves you.
  9. Do you think there is a 9-12 enrollment or average class enrollment of limiting returns? What is the single best statistical determiner of football athletic program success -- besides past success and enrollment?
  10. I tried to use a multiplier to factor in all schools' effective enrollment at least 10 years ago. For example, you would look at what percentage of a school is on free or reduced lunch and I believe special education could also be factored. Additionally, I believe the success factor should look at the previous four years for the next two year cycle and then only include the median two years to determine success factor points. We had spreadsheets.
  11. Is Cathedral going to be any good this season?
  12. It seems he's been elevated to a new level. Not bad for a HS wrestler and football player from Westside Evansville. He's been on this grind for 20+ years. Not shabby!
  13. Updates and photos from across Indiana, as the 2022 season kicks off. Use #TGD or mention @gridirondigest on Twitter for an automatic re-share. It's game time!
  14. I realize, but still connected by one or two orders of magnitude...
  15. https://twitter.com/WWE/status/1553813314609860609?s=20&t=o8kmEQypHcXBVsqP4SOxow https://currently.att.yahoo.com/att/cm/ronda-rousey-suspended-indefinitely-wwe-132515837.html
  16. Should the PAC have a traveling trophy to keep conference significance between all teams? Let's say Gibson Southern has it now... The next team to beat them gets it, etc... Gibson Southern's first defense would be versus Washington on Sept. 2, then at Southridge on Sept 16. I realize you could also try to compare the teams, but really only if the winner of the big and small divisions played each other during that season. John Harrell has done this for high school basketball with a Mythical Traveling Trophy Game for more than 15 years (much larger sample size) -- an attempt to connect all teams since class basketball began (25 years ago, now...). Bigger pool, but ironically Jasper holds it.
  17. Right! Didn't anyone play NCAA Football 2014 before it went away. It was almost impossible to become one of the Top 3 programs with territory over Indiana (as I recall). I'm glad to see the game coming back next year. Good times.
  18. Waiting for Mount Vernon (Posey) or South Spencer to make it... Although, both are now more accessible with I-69 and US-231. Some debate about which school is actually further south... If I recall the MV school district goes more southern than South Spencer, but the high school Reo is more southern than Mount Vernon.
  19. It is a topic worthy of discussion with NIL. Perhaps (:cough:) someone more experienced with broadcasting should start a thread?!?!?
  20. So have all the TV stations sold their helicopters or ??? Memories of crash landings in corn, baseball, and/or practice football fields are welcome. No politics. #petrol
  21. Do players have rights to use those companies' footage on their own social media -- whether monetized or not?
  22. Ask Mater Dei. I know how well Mater Dei used to travel on Friday nights (even during the sectional), but I honestly don't know how a very good 2A/3A established program like the Wildcats have been travelling. I only bring up Coach Goebel's squad because they often must play Saturday games during the tournament because of their geography and lack of (sharing...) a homefield.
  23. You're competing on Saturdays in some very competitive college football timeslots and markets.
  24. WAXL Scheduled 2022 Football Coverage for Heritage Hills and South Spencer
