  1. It's the Indy sprawl -- transfers or just being affluent enough to move into the school district has its advantages... Who's that Dakich guy and where does he live? 25 years ago, Zionsville had an enrollment of 850. Frankly, it's impressive that they and schools like Westfield have been able to grow and maintain quality academic and extracurricular activities.
  2. Is there not an exception for illegal participation? I believe there is also some lenancy in interpretation if say a coach or player came onto the field to blatantly affect the outcome of the game...
  3. Laying would be holding...offensive or defensive. A player on either side must disengage. It was a common strategy for linebackers to clog holes by laying on a blocking RB/FB.
  4. GS might cover 5 TDs if HH doesn't pass, continues with turnovers, and misses coverages... Second meeting is historically closer in recent years. Still, you have to strap it up and play...
  5. In-state only games... SoS is fairly easy to compute... It's usually something like 0.5*(Win pct of opponents) + 0.5*(Win pct of opponents' opponents)... The weights can vary from ranking to ranking.
  6. Closed conference, no way to compute that relative to the connected data...
  7. Raise it with Coach Goebel. Please record it and post a link.
  8. AK Steel is definitely not in North Spencer School Corporation. It does supply a lot of treated metal to Toyota though. There have been a few contributions to GS from HH though in football and elsewhere. Do you think GS will accumulate enough success factor points to be in 4A, and where will that leave Memorial? It could be a very interesting alignment forthcoming depending on those programs and Mater Dei. It's possible that the Titans will put a running clock on every team from here on out.
  9. After a hiccup in late January/early February, Toyota's stock price is flirting with an all-time high!
  10. Let's hope HH can show up healthy, leave healthy, and continue to improve every week. It will be such an honor to see a DI QB and other collegiate recruits performing at the highest level of 3A football and making their teammates better. As fans of football, HH should soak up the environment and let the chips fall where the Almighty wants them to.
  11. Just curious what is trending now across the state. With few exceptions (New Palestine's run), it seems that teams are opening the playbook to compete at the highest levels (Center Grove). Obviously, this isn't always an option if you don't have the personnel. What do you see your team running as their base set?
  12. What happened to the vaunted Mater Dei offenses of yesteryear... An accurate QB, 4 WRs who just run precision routes, an undersized line that punches above its weight and a RB who would keep your defense in check. Recently, Mater Dei seems to have trouble scoring and does some un-MD like things like TOs. Just a down cycle?
  13. Probably much bigger issues in these boys' lives. Hopefully this is a wake-up and... Yeah. Anyone working at Bosse, I don't envy. I couldn't do it.
  14. From very reliable sources, it will be a safe environment. 😏 Also I wouldn't want to be a fugitive in Spencer County... ISP Detective on the HH coaching staff, and I'm sure this fugitive would be surprised to know what locals think of the Second Amendment, even in "gun free zones..." Another ISP officer's property basically borders HHHS... Vikings and Patriots will be safe and the winner will be the one which commits the fewest turnovers and penalties. Ironically, we played the Friday after Tuesday, September 11, after much debate protected by the corn rows!
  15. Scores and updates from across Indiana can be shared here or by using #TGD or mentioning @gridirondigest on Twitter. Instant retweets. Where are you and what games will you be following?
  16. Please notify Coach Hart or the IHSAA. Not very classy to call out a HS player by number (effectively by name) and then hurl comments at him. How about you stay on topic and give us some insight on South Spencer and your expectations for the Rebels in Reo this week?
  17. Linton Mount Vernon NP at HH - Winner by the turnover margin South Spencer - even if sloppy, SS in Reo Gibson Southern (not a great week to be playing at Ft. Branch) Tell City - again when in doubt siding with the home team. Props to Springs Valley though. Larry Bird would've made a great DE in 1978 Washington - I guess? Chargers are yet to score a point this year. The schools are only 12 miles a part. Series has been dominated by the Hatchets with a few Chargers' wins in the early 2000s... also a weird one in 1989 when Pike Central won 0-1 (forfeit?) Chatard AND Roncalli, I believe was his point.
  18. Back on track, after I steered this off the tracks... 19. Arlington? Fond (but also bitter) memories. I thought the field was abandoned a few years ago?
  20. One of the few programs in the state undefeated against Roncalli. Depending on when the success factor was instituted, HH would have likely been playing in 4A against Chatard/Roncalli (might have been 5A) from 2001-2007. Playing Jasper twice in one season would've been a treat. The local game that has never happened and looks like it never will is Heritage Hills vs. Reitz. As always don't dismiss HH or MV or SR yet against GS. Kryptonite seems to appear at the most inopportune times. That being said, I fully expect the Titans to run the table in the PAC and 3A this year. Highest prospective PAC QB in 20 years (since Cutler; albeit, because of circumstances which prevented HH from going on a run in 1999, being a legitimate collegiate athlete prospect in three sports, and the changes in exposure/recruiting for Allen). Side note... Bob Griese's brother, Bill, has lived and is now retired in Santa Claus and can most often be found on the golf course.

  22. There's nothing to measure or relate. CalPreps and other systems have a "program" factor, but unless it is accounting for the 18 starters a team loses or retains every year, coaching changes, off season training, it's a crap shoot!
  23. Just selfishly wished that the SIAC weren't closed. Drop the scrimmage week and effectively make Week 10 an out-of-conference game week for most schools...despite programs having different regular season "philosophies" and may want to shy away from playing a good/traditional Jasper team the week before the tournament. Jasper-HH and I'm sure other matchups need restored.
