PHJIrish Posted September 30, 2024 Posted September 30, 2024 I just bought my ticket. This is usually a good one and no reason to believe this one won't be also. Quote
PHJIrish Posted October 3, 2024 Author Posted October 3, 2024 I'm surprised there isn't more commentary for this game! Quote
Tippy Posted October 3, 2024 Posted October 3, 2024 I'll say Cathedral wins 28-24. I think Cathedral is better than the way they played against Brownsburg. Quote
Footballking16 Posted October 3, 2024 Posted October 3, 2024 Run the ball effectively, don’t get beat over the top, and win the field position battle and Cathedral could win this. Quote
LC_Bears_04 Posted October 4, 2024 Posted October 4, 2024 I'll go with Center Grove 31, Cathedral 24. Could easily be a rematch in the Semi-State. Quote
Bash Riprock Posted October 4, 2024 Posted October 4, 2024 Tough. tough game between 2 excellent programs. This has turned into a heck of a series over the years. Glad they are not clobbering each other last game of the season. Awesome venue to play ball....going to be a nice evening for all!! 1 Quote
RocksFan23 Posted October 5, 2024 Posted October 5, 2024 Tried to pull this game up on IHSAA TV app after leaving Westfield, got error saying my account didn’t have permission for game on CG Sports Network. Have seen several games with a lock symbol on them. Not even a PPV option, how do people get access to watch certain games? Quote

Cathedral wins a wild one 49-45. Two best players on the field were both sophomores, McClurg and Dangerfield. Quote

Thanks for answering. Quote
PHJIrish Posted October 5, 2024 Author Posted October 5, 2024 I saw my first Cathedral game in 1955, while in the 8th grade. I'm not sure this one was one of the best I've ever witnessed, but it was the most fun I've had as an Irish fan for a long time. Hats off to the Trojans for making this a great one! I hope some D1 schools take a look at Xavier Dangerfield! He's a real deal running back and he's only a sophomore! Quote

Glad you enjoyed PHJ....I would have taken the root canal option if that were a choice over watching the game last night. That is in no way a slight toward CHS. Congrats on the W. Quote

There also was some stout defense played by the Irish in the fourth quarter. I have a freshman score: Cathedral 25, Center Grove 14. The Irish frosh are still unbeaten. I don't have a JV score yet, but I've been told that Cathedral lost the JV game. Quote

I haven’t watched the Irish frosh yet, but from what I am hearing and the results are showing the Irish future is very bright mixing those Freshman with the current Sooh’s and Juniors currently producing for Varsity. last night probably wasn’t fun for defensive fans or for the CG fans because of the narrow loss. For those that like Offense though Coach Moore and Coach Peebles offensive players played very well. The difference in the game really was the Irish defense got a couple of stops when they needed at the end with some INT’s definitely was a battle between 2 very good teams 1 Quote

Where do their kids come from mostly? Honest question, not trying to start a smear campaign here. Edited October 5, 2024 by BTF Quote
PHJIrish Posted October 5, 2024 Author Posted October 5, 2024 A lot of the students come from a legacy background. That's how I went to Cathedral back in 1957, as my brother had graduated a few years before that. I would have been a family outcast if I'd chosen any other school. As far as nowadays, it's really a family decision as tuition is quite expensive for a lot of families. Some go to Cathedral for the excellent academics and some for the successful athletics. As for a district, no Cathedral has no real boundaries. Young people and their families make a decision that Cathedral is the right place for them. And, I might, add, that Cathedral isn't for everyone. Quote

There are also kids that attend from Public schools on the Northeast and North side. Not all participate in athletics. It still amazes me the plethora of talent on that Northeast side of Indianapolis and the schools in close proximity (Lawrence North, Lawrence Central, Chatard, Cathedral, Heritage Christian, North Central) all really close to each other. Honest question, not trying to start a smear campaign here. On a side note it could also be stated that CYO Indianapolis is the original Pipeline to Cathedral (opened in 1919) and Sacred Heart. In the 60’s the archdiocese built and opened Scecina, Chatard, Chartrand (became Kennedy then merged with Sacred Heart to become Roncalli), and Ritter. So when PhJIndy says legacy students some are grand children and great grandchildren of Cathedral grads even if their parish feeds to Scecina, Chatard, Roncalli, or Ritter. Those have parish schools have been feeders to Cathedral for 105 years. 2 Quote
PHJIrish Posted October 6, 2024 Author Posted October 6, 2024 I finally received the JV score. Center Grove 37, Cathedral 7. Winning 2 of 3 from Center Grove is a good week for the Irish. Quote
IndianaWrestlingGuy1 Posted October 6, 2024 Posted October 6, 2024 Irish Freshmen 25 Center Grove 14 Quote
