Fair point but winning HAS to matter.  I know they play a difficult schedule but a 4/5 star recruit should be a game changer at the high school level which means he has the ability to put the team on his back and almost single handedly win games.

I know football is the ultimate team sport and Mark would be deserving but this is my opinion.

I get your sentiment but I think the difficulty with this is the positions he played WR and DB. Neither position puts the ball in his hands on every play like it would for say a QB or RB. On defense he was a difference maker on every play, be it throwing away from him or making you pay if you throw to his side of the field. Offensively he was a difference maker if the ball was in his hand, but at WR you are not going to touch the ball every play like a QB.

JAH or MZ...

Not going to lie a bit of surprise that Willis got QB over Geske.  Especially since Willis was injured the last few weeks.

This. Geske has been putting up video game numbers for 2.5 years and did it against a higher level of competition. I understand that Lutheran won a ton with Willis, but cmon…

Always get into this debate but should all 4 years of a players’ career be taken into consideration since it’s a senior only award?

This year it’s hard to overlook Geske for the reasons you mentioned.

Geske did it this year. And last year. And the year before when he was given the chance.

I guess this year’s hypothetical is if Warren would have been better with Geske or Willis.

One guy though? I would agree with that if we were talking about 3A, but I keep saying it, 6A is a beast. I don't think one guy makes much difference.

I haven’t been apart of the vote for a while, but I would assume you only get one school in the offering, if Brebeuf didn’t get the qb then it should have been someone else.

Harris had 2k yards, 10 ypc, and 25 tds

Clarke had 59 for 1600 and 22.

All of them could start at any power 6a team. One of them should have been the position award winner.

edited for clarity.

Not at a 6A program. Each of the top 10-12 teams (and especially the top 3-4) are loaded with similar talent. BD was still an excellent team despite their record. Other than Avon (which was a game played over two days due to storms and a huge rivalry), their other losses were to the top teams in the state. The only local teams they didn't play were Westfield and HSE.

So lemme ask this hypothetical.

Does Travis Hunter win the Heisman last night if Colorado is 5-7?

That’s the thing he did put the team on his back but it’s hard to do at the 6A level after graduating 40 seniors the year prior. The loss against Avon 2 TDS and an Interception, Scored the first TD against a WC team that had yet to be scored on and finished that game 2 TDs and 1 Interception in OT that should have sealed the game but coaches decided to not kick the winning field goal. The LN game would have been a massacre had he not been on the field he scored 3 Receiving TDs and returned and interception for another score. First playoff game BD was down in the fourth quarter and he took over the game by scoring 2 touchdowns and 2 interceptions and followed up the next week against Brownsburg with 4 TDs. What more could you ask for from the kid? Put him on any other team with experience and the team might not have lost game all year and if you put him in a lower level school his number would be out of this world and their is no question who the winner should be.

“Personal affiliation” on profile checks out.

Thanks for your contribution and opinion Mrs. Zackery.

Paul Hornung won the Heisman on a 3-6 team.  So yes it's possible.

Maybe if Travis Hunter's schedule included Georgia, Ohio State, Oregon, Notre Dame, Tennessee, Texas, and Penn State. That's the equivalent of Ben Davis' schedule. If you watched any Travis Hunter games, he's as good anyone in NCAA. I would have been fine with Jeanty as well. Both were deserving. It's tough for a G6 player to win it.

Harris landed 10th on the list of top Running backs with 1,865 yds, 9.56 ypc and 24 TD's. By comparison New Pal's RB Ranes had 2,238 yds 10.17 ypc and 30 TD's.

Jonanthony Hall playing for Fishers in the HHC I would say played against much stiffer competition than Clark throughout the season.

I mean, it was once of the closest votes in Heisman history...something tells me that if Colorado was 5-7/6-6 Jeanty is holding the trophy.

The biggest travesty in the history of the Heisman was Johnny Manziel winning over Manti Teo. You had a well deserving devensive player, a senior, great student, and campus leader up against a freshman quartback who epitimized everything that a student athlete wasn't.

Yes, the "character" portion of the award has long been a joke...see Caleb Williams two years ago.

Teo did such a great job of balancing his game with his academics along with his invisible girlfriend.  Was very deserving.

I agree with you 100%. To support your point, I would add that Manziel was a serial womanizer, while Manti Teo was in an exclusive, committed relationship with his girlfriend. Teo was a much better role model than Manziel!

Yes, although she wasn't real, he was certainly committed and a good boyfriend :).

You wouldn't be you if you didn't throw that in there, lol.

The winner of the Heisman is given to a "student" athlete. I would say the athlete should be a student if given the award. But a freshman over a senior. Gimmie a break, that should NEVER happen.

A picture of his girlfriend holding his Heisman can be seen below.

Very possible and easily justifiable either way. Both are excellent players. It's hard for a G6 player to win the award, but he did come very close.
