I am just requesting the people making the accusations provide documentation. 10 hours ago, PHJIrish said: Never mind! So no evidence besides perceived. Got it. Quote

Your claim is that the 1956 field was pretty talented and it's impossible to prove that racism played a factor as a fact? I'm sort of with you on this. My question would be, had racism NOT played a role, would he have had enough votes to surpass Hornung? Last word goes to @PHJIrish on his one............unless someone else on this forum is 81 years old. Quote

Yuccaguy Posted December 27, 2024 Posted December 27, 2024 (edited) One more SLIGHT... @Sparty and @BTF 1974. No one can tell me that Jackson State's Walter Payton didn't have a better year than Archie Griffin. 1-AA produced throughout the 70's and 80's absolutely great players! Jerry Rice? And I stand by 1956 with Jjm Brown being screwed out of the Heisman Trophy. Edited December 27, 2024 by Yuccaguy Quote

Most folks of that era remember the "whites only" signs and the open hostility to those who were different. When I was in the US Army, one of my best friends was an African American and we were thrown out of a lot of places because of his color, and that was in the late 1960's Oh, he was a technical advisor for CBS News, but it just didn't matter in Louisville, KY. It lasted for a long time. Quote

McDonald averaged 7.2 yards per carry versus Brown's 6.2. Do you believe that Brown got "screwed"? The 50's were rough, I do get that. Quote
