Cignetti started with nothing and made the playoffs. Deboer started with everything and failed to make the playoffs. Yeah, I'm going with Cignetti. You take DeBoer.

“Started with nothing.”

(Checks notes.)

31 transfers and 25 4th/5th year seniors.

Fans take on the personality of their coach and Cignetti’s arrogance is nauseating.  I’ve said that since July.

I don't think IU fans know how to be arrogant when it comes to football. The fans I know still seem to be in shock.

LOL, their basketball fans are still arrogant despite being mediocre consistently over the past 20 years…

They didn’t have football fans 4 months ago.

Your life is at stake. You need to make the first 12 team playoff in your first year as coach. You taking Indiana or Alabama? I rest my case.

Do I get to take everything into consideration, including schedule?

Hindsight is 20/20.

Only two programs (Colorado and Louisville) brought in more transfers than IU.  All three had great bounce back years.  Not a coincidence.

Bama would crush IU.  They played 4 teams better than the best team IU beat.

Do they deserve to be in?  No but that’s a separate argument.

Lol, IU's transfers came from George Mason.

I thought you said Vegas had Bama by 4?

I think you're selling your Wolverines short. I'll give you Georgia and South Carolina. But I've got Michigan in a close one over Missouri and the train wreck at LSU. Michigan is playing on a different level the second half of the season vs the first.

Might wanna screen shot this one but I am actually rooting for ND in the upcoming playoff.

The IU story is cute and all but I’ve never seen success, along with delusion, go to a fanbase’s head more quickly.

The more I read this thread and listen to Cignetti talk, the more I talk myself into a double digit ND victory.

Just like you defended Warren Central to the hilt this year. Just like you cite Michigan as a rebuilding team this year with 4 and 5 star players all over their roster. Just like you thing that Moore is a great coach in his first year at Michigan with virtually no head coaching experience at any level, but you take potshots at Cignetti who has won at every level he has coached at. Just like you will back away after Alabama lays the hammer to Michigan in their bowl game citing how Michigan is depleted this year and the result should be expected despite having 4 and 5 star recruits all over their roster. Sigh…

Damn, I have heard it all now. IU, who was beyond an afterthought coming into this year, with no 5 star recruits on their entire roster, is now an experienced, loaded team with a bunch of guys from James freaking Madison and that gives them an edge over Michigan and all of their 4 and 5 star recruits? And now, being the bitter man about IU’s success this year, you are going to root another school who bleeds 4 and 5 star recruits because IU is cocky and arrogant? I literally have heard it all now…

You do realize that nobody had IU finishing in 2nd place in the Big 10 conference this year, right? Most had them 17th with all their experienced players and “stellar” recruits from James Madison. Michigan might very well be the biggest disappointment in college football this year and you give them a pass. One of the worst coaching jobs in all of football by Moore yet you act like Moore is a great coach. What a joke…

I didn't like Cignetti at first. I thought, "damn, this guy is arrogant." Then I thought, "can a guy be this arrogant and fail? Is that even possible?" Well, he backed it up. But he still has work to do. Comments like "google me" will be remembered. Pressure is on.

He’s changed the culture at a number of programs and he realizes what has to be done to wake up a sleeping fanbase.

Of course bloodblood fans like Temp are uncomfortable about Cignetti and IU. They weren’t counting on a new player at the table, and what was once a gimme win now has to be earned. The biggest of programs weren’t hoping for more competition.

1.  I defended my Warren preseason ranking based on their returning talent (they had 6 players. in the IFCA top 50) but never had em higher than 3rd once the season progressed.

2.  Michigan’s 4/5 star players were unfortunately saturated on one side of the ball.  Their 5 star DB who will be a top 5 pick in April of 2025 didn’t play the last 7 weeks of the season and their schedule was brutal.

3.  Never called Sherrone great.  He called some great games and had some big wins as the acting head coach in 2023 but the jury is still out.  If his first recruiting class is any indication, he will be just fine. (Including his stint as active coach last year, he still has 4 more ranked wins in FBS than Cignetti.)

3. Milroe is playing in the bowl game, DeBoer is a great coach.  They will likely roll Michigan who has had all of their first round draftees, plus Donovan Edwards, opt out.  Am I really gonna lose sleep over THE RELIAQUEST Bowl?  Nah, it’s a glorified spring game as are all non playoff bowl games.

4.  Notre Dame by double figures.

Nah, putting words in my mouth.

I give Sherrone a C+ this year, woulda been a D had he not won in Columbus.

Turned over the entire staff, played 5 top 25 teams (4 more than IU), replaced a legend and bombed on developing a QB.  (To be fair, the rest of the country got a head start on the portal last year while Michigan was playing for a title.)

Michigan and IU don’t even play next year but the 2025 Big Ten schedule was released this week.

“Google it.”

Good luck to the Hoosiers in their road games in Eugene, Happy Valley, and Iowa City.

Things will return to normal in 2025.

High School season is complete, but still plenty of college and pro action left. It's donation season!

These aren’t your words??? How is that putting words in your mouth? You are quick to point out others for their words, but when the shoe is on the other foot you bail quickly

So, the great coach, Harbaugh, left the cupboard bare??? Hmmm, when Georgia and Alabama were winning titles they didn’t miss a beat the following year like Michigan has. 4 and 5 star recruits all over Michigan’s roster yet they flame out epically at 7-5. Sounds like a team that doesn’t know how to handle success and loses to James Madison North…

3. Love the woe is me attitude by you on this one. The great and powerful Alabama will roll my lowly, untalented Wolverines… Can’t make this 💩up!!!

You put words in my mouth regarding Sherrone.

Look, even Cignetti’s James Madison teams could’ve negotiated IU’s schedule this year.

They beat the 7th, 10th, 12th, 13th, 14th, 16th, 17th and 18th place Big Ten teams this year.

How Indiana does in 2025 has no bearing on Michigan.  No concern here.

Michigan is not Georgia or Alabama…and I’ve stated such on this board multiple times.
