Our society is becoming soft?

Disclaimer--- officiated A LOT in my life.... never understood why you'd be thin skinned as an official.

Next-- nothing should EVER leave the sports arena/field. No parent/coach has a right to do something like that...

But if words bother people as an official, they should grow up.

I do not know why you quoted me here, and proceeded to say what you said.  Can you clarify please.

5 v 3. Just seems like simple math to me....

If we talking about having the athletes that sports is most applicable to flag football, we'd definitely want it in the spring so we can convince the soccer team and volleyball players to play.

I get the math. If that's what it comes down to, then yeah, make it a spring sport. I just don't think it's a good idea for football and track to compete with one another. Either way, there's going to be some disappointed girls that they can't play because it interferes with their sport. . It is what it is. Look, I've never been a fan of some the IHSAA's decision making, but I don't think it's fair to say they're "not using their head."

Why wouldn't you understand that?

Because what you wrote is too vague and ties me into your drivel, pointlessly.

It's not vague at all. I didn't tie you into anything, you brought it up.

Have fun officiating these games.  Physical. Girls will be whining.  Coaches will be too.

Done my share over the years.  No thank you.

I can honestly say after watching some of these games last fall, that you are wrong with all of these comments.

With your attitude it appears that they will be better off without you officiating these games!!

The girls that played with, and against, my daughter appeared to be having fun, and there really wasn't any complaining by any of the coaches that I saw.

Right. Unfortunately, some aren't here to discuss it.

Right. And it was a direct response to what you posted. How you were ever confused is confusing.

In response to your last part of this quoted response…

Your quote response had NOTHING to do with what I posted.

Girls Flag Football added as Emerging Sport, joins Girls Lacrosse

Girls Flag Football was approved by the group by a 17-1 vote to join the IHSAA’s Emerging Sports Process. The sport joins Girls Lacrosse, approved last August, and both will begin the process with the 2025-26 school year.

Girls Flag Football, a fall sport, has strong support and financial backing of the Indianapolis Colts.

The Emerging Sport Process, known as Rule 1-4, helps pave a way for those sports and participation to continue to grow with an eye toward eventually becoming a recognized sport and sponsorship of an official state tournament. Girls Wrestling and Boys Volleyball went through the same process and became fully recognized and state tournaments sponsored this school year.

By earning the designation as an emerging sport, the IHSAA will now provide rule books, conduct coaches rules meetings, and provide coverage in the IHSAA’s Catastrophic Medical program. Both sports will now be subject to all IHSAA rules and policies, including the General Eligibility Rules.

For a sport to become officially recognized and an IHSAA state tournament be sponsored, 50 percent of the membership must be participating in the sport. The IHSAA currently has 409 member schools around the state.

What 2A and 1A schools are doing this in 2025?  What 3A schools are doing this in 2025?  I see 50 percent of the membership as a tough number to reach for flag football.  The subject was brought up at our school(2A), and it was not received well.  It was given little consideration.

This might bring me out of coaching retirement. I loved flag football in IU intramurals in the late 80's. Still remember some of the multi-pitch plays we ran, but I'd have to change the play names because they were all pretty raunchy.

I love it!  I'll always advocate for MORE football.  I don't have any clue on the logistical headaches that ADs will have with this, but I'd love to see Sheridan do this.
