Avon could play with New Pal also IMO.

OT thriller at Avon in week 1.  Coin flip.

Yet you have New Pal 3rd in the entire state… 👌

Really? Calling out Carroll a couple years ago as they were playing for a state title isn’t saying a negative word? Saying the true championship game is played in the South semi-state isn’t saying a negative word about the North? Come on dude, too much beer kills my want to go and research anything except where to find the best and cheapest beer for tomorrow…

excuse me?

I was one of like 2 people on this website that predicted Carroll to beat HSE in semistate.

If I recall I did pick CG to win the title, but obviously I would have been correct.

But at least i just had a great trip down memory lane, that Carrol vs HSE thread was awesome.

I have bashed the Northwest, Not the North, I've never said a negative word about the Ft. Wayne schools.

Which is wild to me that this is generally the talking point despite The Region's recent/historical sucess against Fort Wayne from The DAC and Northwest Crossroads (Lowell + Andrean). I gave up on "The Region vs. Indy" arguments once I moved to Indy around 2002 and witnessed the difference first hand and it became obvious the once rural Indy suburban schools were booming in enrollments. But, I often wonder why people often give Fort Wayne a pass when knocking The Region as if Fort Wayne carries the same dominance. The head to head records between the 2 metro areas have been very competitive.

Ft wayne schools have gone down to LOS and won

Valpo did it once, when 5a was arguably at its weakest.

Believe me I enjoy good football, I'd love for the northwest to be competitive on a yearly basis

Lowell hasn't? Andrean hasn't? And typically when a Region school has made it to Indy to bore you they've beaten a Fort Wayne school at some point along the way.

So what if 5A was weak. It's still a W. Against a respectable team from a solid Central Indiana Conference. And the Vikings beat Snider in Fort Wayne to get there. But, nice back handed compliment. Are you actually a fan of Indiana HS football or just the upper echelon Central Indiana teams?

Never said anything about Andrean

Or lowell

Talking about tqo schools in particular that are consistently overrated every year.

The fort wayne schools are typically rated fairly at least, if not slightly under appreciated

You call it like you see it, I'll give you that. No bias toward any particular area and probably the least biased person on the forum. Maybe a little hard on the referees, but I enjoy that content too :).

Belittling the accomplishments of HS football players on a board meant to promote Indiana HS football because AP/Coaches poll voters give them lofty rankings is childish.

Wait till @Rodney finds out that Crown Point has been receiving a first place vote (actually two this week) for a few weeks now...

Apparently saying team a is worse than team b and or there is no reason to believe team a is better than team b is belittling accomplishments. So please everyone for boilernation's sake, please refrain from talking about who the best teams are, similarly please dont talk about hypothetical matchups

Nah. I could give two shakes less if you want to waste your day/night arguing hypothetical matchups. Just find it annoying when you want to bash an entire area of HIGH SCHOOL football teams because you don't like that the AP and Coaches Poll voters rate Crown Point and Merrillville high.

I quit looking at the AP poll years ago, they just never made any sense. Have they gotten better? Truth be told, I think the posters here have a better grip on rankings than the media does. But the kids see the AP poll, not ours. So at the end of the day, let them have their time in the limelight. It's honestly just a false hope. Prime example: In 2005 I traveled down to Hamilton Southeastern to see them take on 12-0 Snider, who was ranked #1 in 5A (largest class at the time.) Isaacs used to say, "we're only #1 by default." He knew Indy teams just beat up on each other. I mentioned to another fan in the stands that this was going to be a good game. He said, "no way, HSE's record is only 9-3." I'm thinking, this guy has no clue. The AP poll has always rewarded the teams with the best record, not paying much attention to strength of schedule. I will say that they are getting better though. Oh, HSE won the game 32-15.

I don’t argue about 6A as far as North teams go very much. It takes a special team, like 5A Snider in 2023 who I thought would have won the 6A title or 2015 Snider and New PAL in 5A  who I think were the best 2 teams in the state to get me to joint that fight. Someone from the North is going to have to actually win a 6A title otherwise it is like arguing who wins when the hammer hits the nail…

You pretty much hit the nail on the head.

I did the math, with the new stadium it can happen. If I can battle it out with my wife and girlfriend, my two future lineman will be at snider rather than luers.😜 Yet if bowen and dinan both stay put...it could change..

Do you want you're kids to have an opportunity to play for a state title at Lucas? I'd say Snider and Carroll are you're best bet. I just don't see it happening at Northrop for three reasons:

1.   They'll never be a 5A enrollment school.

2.   They'll always be one of the smaller teams in 6A. Getting out of sectionals or regionals will be a grind for them.

3.   I'm still not sure what Bowen can do outside of having a lot of talent. His teams have have been horrible (4-26) up until the new transfer rules took affect. Even some of the best coaches can't seem to get past semi-state. Look no further than Merrillville.
