SB St. Joe (12-1) @ FW Bishop Dwenger (11-2)

I am not sure many people expected these two teams to be playing for a trip to Lucas Oil and a chance to play for a state championship.  This is the match up in the 4A North Semi- State.  Both teams have defenses that has surrendered less than 10 points a game this year.  

Dwenger has lost to Roncalli (in the 4A South Semit State) and FW Northrop.  St. Joe only lost to Penn.

On paper will this be another defensive tussle on the field?

Thoughts on this game:

1. It is the battle of the defenses in this one. I think Dwenger has an edge as their defense has played much tougher teams overall than St. Joe

2. Whose offense do you trust more? I feel like the team with less turnovers wins this game

3. Special teams I think will be an influence in this game, especially field position so punters will have a big role

4. Sounds like weather will be a factor as well. Game is on turf at Dwenger so muddy conditions won’t come into play

The last 3 teams the Huskies played all had played better competition coming from the NLC and the Region.  That did not seem to be a factor up until this point.  Hobart was much bigger with some athletes and only gained 99 yards for the game.

Dwenger: 88-60

I think @Komets2727 is trying to point out the Dwenger points against of 8.23 is against much better competition then St. Joe points against of 8.46. 
 

Either team can win but you are just dismissing who each team played by simply looking at a raw number.

@ASJCPUMA also just happens to leave out a major point to the loss to Penn. St. Joe lost 38-6 to Penn while Dwenger's two losses were by 3 points each. Then don't forget to add in the details of Carroll (FW) beat Penn 41-30 and Dwenger beat Carroll (FW) 9-6. I never like when people just leave out details just to try and make an argument.  Hope all Fort Wayne area teams win and make it to State but at this point of the season a game can go either way because it is played by 16-18 year kids.

You are right. Strength of schedule has been much more difficult for Dwenger. Dwenger has played and beaten 2 fellow semi-state teams in 6A Carroll and 3A Luers and beat Penn at Penn while St. Joe got hammered by Penn 38-6

Sounds like a Laycoff's kind of night. Old school tavern that's been around for years. Just five minutes down the street from Dwenger.

Add parking and traffic..  5 minutes on a normal night. 30 minutes this Friday night.  But an absolutely wonderful pregame place to go to!!!  Totally suggested!

Thirty minutes from Laycoff's to Dwenger? Did they shut the entire road down? Maybe 12 minutes on Christmas Eve at 3pm. This Friday, ten minutes tops.

Good call. Dwenger's has a nice venue, but not a lot of parking. Note that the game doesn't start until 7:30. Should be fine if you get there at 6:30.

Maxpreps is showing 7:30. A half hour delay seems to be the norm for Fort Wayne vs South Bend area. Just keep an eye on it.

Have you thought of the "Catholicism"  surrounding this contest?  This is DE PLACE to go to on Friday on the Northside of town!

We are absolutely in agreement on this one!  I'm saying that as a Lutheran.  

Bubba's 33 opening up today is also an issue.  

Head to Laycoff's get a Pizza Roll .... well, any damned thing!  Wonderful place pregame, IMO!

Agreed, Luers playing will split the cyo crowd although i think BD will have standing room only friday night.

I think "doubt it" meant that he doesn't agree with "Luers playing will split the cyo crowd." To my knowledge Luers fans don't typically go to Dwenger games and vice versa. Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think so.

Nice venue, but not the size of your public school stadiums. Seating on the visiting side is limited, so don't show up at the last minute.
