If you want traction on your site, let grown men have discussions about other grown men, we aren’t talking about children, a firing, or anything negative, lighten up. This thread has gotten more attention than any others this off season.

I’m not attaching a news article but Riverton Parke is closing down one of their elementary schools at the end of this year, let’s discuss Parke County’s future.

How many Montezuma parents are going to drive all the way to Rosedale instead of Rockville or SV?

So when Parke Heritage and Riverton Parke consolidate, what class will they be? Do they stay in the WRC and be a big brother like SV? How do they pick a coach? Is it based off wins? Being a teacher? Must be a neutral party? What about supporting staff? Sanders has 15 assistants and good ones knocking on the door to get in on the fun. Parke Heritage is losing the only coach on staff who has any sort of experience being a coordinator, Rector is going to be a one man band. What do you do with a quarterback like Schelsky coming? Would be the conferences best quarterback next year as an 8th grader. Assuming Charlie will retire, does Rich go find a coach that can get his son a scholarship? How will this community respond?

Brad, I know you read this, still waiting to meet and talk over quick game and opening the field up, going to need to spread the field somewhat if you want to play in Lucas oil. If you have Jack Kiser, you can make a run that way, if not you gotta be able to spread it out and get all your athletes involved. I’m ready to be a panther, I’ve officially been ran out of the program I built! Go Panthers!

what’s the new mascot going to be?

This is all hypothetical what ifs. Yes, Montezuma Elementary is closing down because Southwest Parke is moving towards a one campus model similar to most corporations their size. But any talk of PH and RP consolidating is just that. There are no serious moves being made in that direction any time soon.

You must really want to be a Panther Billy. If I could offer you a suggestion, maybe not try to beg for a job on the GID. And as I'm looking at the numbers, I'm pretty sure the Panthers were #1 in scoring, defense and margin of victory in class 1A last year, and top 5 in each category for all classes with most of their guys back this coming season.

Didn't they drop 74 against your Woolfs?

I would assume this is being done to push kids to PH and move them to 2A, all while solidifying RP in 1A for many years to come.
And based on state law, the AD that is retained is based on tenure, education and licensing. ——  Can you imagine Coach Sanders, the double wing offense and tenderloins running the Parke County football program?   It’s stuff they make dreams of.   Billy, you can run the youth program.   We will give you a playbook with one formation and 5 bases plays to learn.   Once mastered, we will build upon it.

You must talk to different school board members from each above mentioned school than I have.

Did your sister not help you understand sarcasm, I don’t want to be a Panther, I just want to beat the wolves in grades 3-12 out of my pride and ego. I looked at your profile bear, seems 50% of your replies are to me.  I appreciate the words of encouragement, but I don’t take advice from someone who doesn’t have the sack to put their real name on a public forum. I don’t have to beg for a job… that’s the pro of being a right hand man of one of the best IHSAA coaches ever,  I can coach anywhere. I’ve been contacted by every WRC school except 2, Jeff, North Central, North Put, could be at THS with one call. Moore’s endorsement is all I need, and I have that.

I don’t care about what they were ranked at and all the mumbo jumbo you mentioned above, they play in the worst conference in Indiana right now, they had a great year but it’s still like being the smartest kid on the short bus. And from what Kevin Allen told me Saturday, it’s going to be even worse this next year, I don’t see how but it’s sad.  They have one more shot to win a state title, then they take a drop, they need a passing game of some sort to make that run happen, south put loaded the box, the run game would have been a tad bit easier if it forced 2-4 of those boys out of the box…. but hell I’m the dumba$$ arguing with a keyboard warrior about HS football so what do I know?

None of those stats matter, last years team will be known as the team that had a great regular season and blew it in the sectional championship when up 2 scores, and I’m not discrediting, been there 3 times as a coach, it sucks. It’s either state title or bust for sanders and company.

Not my wolves! Offered my services multiple times and not been welcome, was asked not to come back to help with junior high as I “yell to much” after I am the only reason the head coach got the job after I told them no multiple times. Hell I may just apply for that and beat @KAllen one last time, surely Coach Moore wouldn’t tell me no.

Did I not prove my play calling ability to you this year kev kev?! You just asked me to come coach with you Saturday, how am I demoted to youth league by Monday? Hmmmmm

The Panthers had a very solid year and Coach Sanders deserves credit for turning that program around. That’s not easy to do.

That said I do think the conference overall is not as strong as it has been in previous years. There have been teams in the WRC over the last 20 years that were on a different level.

It’ll be interesting to see if the Panthers can take the next step and prove they can compete at that elite level beyond just conference success.

The 07 Rockville team would've had 50+ in the first half against the Panthers.

Lol, and the 14 NV team would've put 50+ on 07 Rockville in the first half, and so on and so on...

Why is it when the Panthers are good, it's because the conference sucks? Pretty sure that 07 Rockville team didn't win state. All or nothing right? Or it's just a good season?

And @BillyBettis, I'm not that into you. I just like to comment on some of the nonsense that comes out of your mouth because I know it drives you crazy. I'm definitely not a keyboard warrior. Not hard to figure out your bubble screens, quick slants and QB draws. I think the people in the northern half of the county would embrace wearing burgundy and navy when consolidation comes.

But they made it out of their sectional and out of the regional and out of the semi state. Just to lose to Sheridan who had one of the best 1A football players the state has ever seen. Have to have post season success. Your comparing apples to oranges.

Nonsense? I said anything that’s not true? Is this not the worst the conference has been in how long? Do the panthers not need to have the ability to open the field at all? Would have been nice against south put and the studs they had in the box.

When the wolves had the Johnson brothers it was all or nothing. This year’s panthers team, it’s all or nothing. Ask Brad if he feels the same.   Do you think he cares about “making history” being the smartest kid on the shortbus or will his season be determined if the panthers can play in Lucas oil?

Not hard to figure out but sure hard to stop isn’t it!  lol you like stats, look at Moore’s wolves teams, Rochester Rockets, North Put, Lafayette Jeff, or anyone else who runs this exact offense. But you’re exactly right buddy, the fields spread open, pick your poison, a 5-6 man box is perfect for draw, DB’s want to play tight, we will go over the top, if they want to play off, we will spit it out to our athletes in the open field and let you try to tackle us in the open field. You’re not as dumb as you act, you get it.

I don’t get fired up when someone pushes back on what I say, but don’t act like any of my takes are wrong. I’d give you a little more respect when you have the sack to put your name on here, I’ve been listening to Kevin for years, he’s a pain in the a$$ but he’s no coward. Kevin and I will fund the entire GID yearly fund if it’s required for your full name to be on here.

That said, I'm intrigued by an all-Parke County school.  Aside from basketball, you could argue that RP has better programs in nearly all sports.  Heck, even their wrestling program has become very competitive in the last few years.  (I have no clue about track or XC).

2026 Patriots are my sleeper to upset RP for the conference championship.  The conference title returns to the northern part of the WRC this year and we don't need The King, The Prince, or B Bettis to make it happen.   That's not a rumor, that's a spoiler.

What happens when you don't have the athletes to run that offense? Out the door you go, on to the next shiny thing. Rinse and repeat. Leave all those 'inferior' coaches and players behind to figure it out. If it works so well, why not stay and build something?

That's why I like seeing guys like Coach Sanders start to have success. And why it scares everyone else. Because once they're on top, it's hard to knock them off. Because they've put in the time and the work and actually built something. And deep down I think he probably cares more about helping make great young men than making history. Do things the right way and the success will come.

Save your money, I already know you and Kevin...

As soon as I thought you knew football. You don’t have to have absolute studs to run this offense lol. We ran it with 5 offensive lineman under 200 lbs and not a single one was an ALL WRC player. You throw or run the ball where they aren’t, it’s a number game.

You sound like Rich, he likes to call me a “front runner” even after I let his son pass for 50 touchdowns this year.  I tried sticking around Bear, I came back after a year off and wanted to help, we went to Linton and got killed and had our backs and receivers screaming at lineman, on the phone at halftime texting their parents (any surprise those kids have all been in legal trouble since graduating). I run practice the following Monday as Coach Rector had a medical emergency, show up to practice with 8 varsity starters not there and 2 other “coaches” not there.

I'm not saying the current coaches are inferior, but the work ethic isn’t there, they play video games with their players, it’s lackadaisical, the kids are fine doing that as well. Rector is now a one man band after losing Vandiver. Couldn’t find a better man, but he needs help. Noble Johnson’s the biggest pain I have ever coached, but if practice wasn’t going smooth or you weren’t working, we didn’t have to say much, he would handle it.  We don’t have kids like that.
Is that the type of program you’d want to stick around for? I resigned before I got myself fired. Maybe I was spoiled under Moore, he trusted me and let me do what I do, but he held me to a standard that my offensive line and special teams would perform or I’d be ridiculed like the  players. Our kids feared us, but now respect and love us, I’m 100% positive I’ll stand up with multiple of them in their weddings someday.

I asked rector if he was open to switching his offense I would love to come back and he could call the defense, like he’s always done.  He’s not interested, I’m not going to bang my head off the wall and attack walled cities. I thought after seeing the kids he had coming from JH he would jump on.

Let’s also not forget to mention me starting and running our youth league for the last 7/8 years. That ends this year. What’s that old saying? “Don’t bite the hand that feeds ya?” Best of luck to whoever I can find to take it over.

Sadly you’re right, our facilities continue to slack and the difference between us and other local schools gets more and more noticeable.

also agree, Cronk will have the ball rolling at SEEGER, but don’t see them beating the panthers this year.

Does Seeger have anything coming back? I thought they had a decent team last year, but Cass put it to them in the Sectional. Definitely wasn't on my bingo card

The Patriots lose quite a few seniors who filled a lot of stats on offense and defense.   They do return their QB.  The "hope" is our new coach can bring back some of the athletes in the building.  I know, I know, hope is a terrible strategy.   Reality says that RP only lost two starters on defense and three on offense.  They are the team to beat, but I do believe PH will compete at the top and so will Seeger under Cronk.

I know the feeling, Seeger isn't alone in having that problem at these smaller schools getting athletes to play more than one sport. Will be interesting to see with the realignment what happens. With being at Rochester we are a toss up for what sectional we land in. Up until 3 years ago, had no idea about Seeger or the rest of the WRC. Long bus ride from Rochester to Seeger that year. Was very worried how our guys would perform with the long trip. Some of our kids that was the farthest from Rochester they had ever been. Seeger had a very impressive team that year.

Their write up says “He believes in creating an environment where athletes are challenged, supported, and held to a high standard, while also encouraging multi-sport participation and strong ties to the school and community.” Weird given they didn’t hire either of the two alumni who actually teach in the school and live in the community and coach multiple sports who applied for the job. My math ain’t too good, but that don’t figure up.

They were both good enough to coach on staff years past. History seems to be repeating itself. Good coaches who’ve played on or taken teams to Lucas Oils getting pushed out. New guy’s from North Monts

I'm no idiot. I do know that there was not a second round of interviews at NV until after Earl accepted the FC job. The guy NV wanted accepted another job so I don't think it had anything to do with them not being the "best candidate." I don't know coach Crum I wish him the best of luck and I'm sure he will do great things at NV and get the ball rolling again. He has big shoes to fill for the legendary Brian Crabtree
