Bash Riprock Posted January 20 Posted January 20 Time to start thinking about next season. Not sure accuracy. If so, not wasting time. I thought portal was closed. Quote
tango Posted January 20 Posted January 20 Probably not a bad idea to go to a place where he can get some starting experience and then transfer back. Quote
Coach Nowlin Posted January 20 Posted January 20 Why stay when your HC is going to continue to bring in 4th and 5th year guys over the top of you? Quote
23andCounting Posted January 20 Posted January 20 Cignetti had a plan for Mendoza. He would continue a backup role this coming season seeing lot's of action continuing his development to be the starter for the Hoosiers in 2027. Sometimes you just have to trust the "process." And we've quickly found out that the process that Cignetti preaches is worthwhile if you follow it. In terms of development, this is a bad move on his part. Or maybe he just felt like following in his brother's footsteps at IU was just too much to overcome. Quote

He's a redshirt freshman. As 23 stated, the plan was to use Hoover for one year, and continue his Alberto's development, then assuming Alberto earns it, would give him 2 years as a starter. Now, perhaps he can get a bigger paycheck, as rumors indicate he may be heading to Georgia Tech. Perhaps he would get on the field quicker, not sure. It would be big shoes to fill at IU, and comparisons to his brother would be rough. 1 Quote

Muda69 Posted February 11 Posted February 11 https://www.indystar.com/story/sports/college/indiana/2026/02/11/tyler-cherry-back-on-indiana-football-roster-after-sitting-out-center-grove-quarterback-knee-injury/88625096007/ Quote Indiana football quarterback Tyler Cherry has been re-added to the official roster and is back on scholarship after spending the 2025 season as a student coach. Cherry sat out last season while rehabbing a knee injury he suffered in the lead up to IU's first-round CFP game against Notre Dame in 2024. On Tuesday night, he was listed as a redshirt freshman and held onto the No. 15 jersey he wore while redshirting. The Center Grove alum was a late addition to the program's 2024 recruiting class. He was initially committed to Duke, but reevaluated his options after both programs went through coaching changes. He was a four-star prospect and No. 6 in-state prospect that cycle, according to 247 Sports composite rankings. ..... Yeah, but will he play? Quote

Certainly not next year with Josh Hoover in the spot. To be coming back must mean Cignetti wants him there...if not, he would have told him to find another home. He's only a redshirt freshman...if it doesn't work out next year, he has plenty of eligibility left. Quote

23andCounting Posted June 4 Posted June 4 Indiana could be only the fourth team to be rated outside of the Top 5 after winning the title since 2011. Right now I have IU, Notre Dame, and Ohio State (no particular order) as the best three teams in the country. Gimmie Texas and Georgia to round out the Top 5. Quote
Bash Riprock Posted June 16 Author Posted June 16 I see IU and Charlie B is using my daily morning workout…. 1 Quote
