PHJIrish Posted January 16, 2025 Posted January 16, 2025 I'm old enough to have seen Bob catch in the minor leagues. He was quite the character even back then. He made Major League and Major League II must watches for me. And his appearances on The Tonight Show, with Johnny Carson, were legendary. He was one of a kind! RIP! 2 1 Quote

They were so good.....I still remember the first Colts Monday night game in Indy. It was Halloween night. We had masks on our seats. Most of them were on the MNF Team of Michaels, Gifford, and Dierdorf. One section in one of the upper corners though had Uecker masks. Quote
Bobref Posted January 16, 2025 Posted January 16, 2025 Quote My favorite Uecker commercials were the old Miller Lite ads. 2 1 Quote

RIP George https://www.cbssports.com/boxing/news/george-foreman-dies-at-76-heavyweight-boxing-legend-famous-entrepreneur-leaves-big-legacy/ I can still remember in my first year of law school, sitting in my room at the graduate dorm at IU, by myself, listening to the “Rumble in the Jungle” on the radio.when, shockingly, Ali knocked him out. I ran out into the hallway to share the news —- and there was no one there! My floor was largely international students and they had no idea what was going on. I couldn’t believe it, after the way Foreman had clubbed Joe Frazier into submission just a few months before. 1 Quote

Irishman Posted April 21, 2025 Author Posted April 21, 2025 I missed this one from late February. Al was a part of the original coverage of the NHL on USA Network in the early days of cable. Before we had cable, dad and I would go watch games at a friend's house until we had gotten cable ourselves. Voices like Dan Kelly, Sam Rosen, and Al Trautwig were unforgettable. RIP Al https://www.espn.com/espn/story/_/id/44000011/broadcaster-al-trautwig-68-dies-complications-cancer 1 Quote

I was privileged to see him play a number of times in person. Years ago, I sat near the A's dugout in Oakland during the Bash Brothers time. Parker was the biggest of the 3...Canseco and McGuire. The guy was a stud and one of the greatest outfield arms of all time. 1 Quote

PHJIrish Posted July 1, 2025 Posted July 1, 2025 It's amazing that it took Dave Parker this long to be included in the HOF! He was an outstanding player for years. 1 Quote

I don’t know what criteria HOF voters use. For me, the first question is “Was he a dominant player in his time?” If the answer is immediately “yes,” no other questions need be asked. Cobra is an immediate “yes.” 3 Quote
