Frozen Tundra Posted October 9, 2025 Posted October 9, 2025 Week 8 Picks Columbus East (3-4, 3-1 HHC) at Jeffersonville (3-4, 2-2 HHC): This game will likely decide 3rd and 4th place in the HHC. Maybe my judgment is clouded with my disgust of what I have seen with East this year but I’m picking Jeff to win this one and break their 21 game losing streak to the Olympians. The Red Devils offense hasn’t been as good this year (18.3 PPG compared to East’s 25.3). However, East’s top WR is out for the season and their #1 RB is gone. East leads the all-time series 33-11 and has won 9 straight at Jeff. The last Jeff win in the series and home win in the series was in 2003. Jennings County (3-4, 0-3 HHC) at 5A #9/10 Floyd Central (6-1, 4-0 HHC): Floyd Central wins easily and a running clock will need to be used. We all know why. No more needs to be said. The Highlanders have won the last two games in the series and 8 out of the last 9. The Panthers have lost four straight in Floyds Knobs with the last win in 2015. New Albany (0-7, 0-3 HHC) at Seymour (1-6, 1-4 HHC): The Bulldogs have their final opportunity at a win this year while the previously winless Owls have a shot at two wins in a row. In the games against their four common opponents, Seymour fared better in all four margin-wise so that’s enough for me. Seymour wins. The Owls have won the last three games in the series but New Albany leads 28-15 overall. Monrovia (3-4) at BNL (5-2): For the first time ever, BNL will play Monrovia on the gridiron. Neither team has had a common opponent so there’s nothing to go off of there. However, the Stars have a dynamic offense and put up a lot of points. While the Bulldogs have played a pretty decent lower-class schedule, I’m not sure they’ve seen a team like BNL. Their offensive and defensive PPG numbers don’t look too good either in comparison. The Stars are my pick to win. Quote

I'm rooting for BNL, and I think they'll win, but Monrovia has played a significantly better schedule than a "pretty decent lower class schedule" Top 3 2A Linton Top 10 2A Triton Central Top 10 3A Tri West Top 10 3A Indian Creek Top 3 3A Cascade 5-2 4A Beech Grove Top 20 4A BNL Of the bottom 3 classes, only Hamilton Heights has a sagarin rated tougher schedule. In 4A there are only 10 or so schedules rated tougher. 2 Quote

I knew it was pretty good but I don’t have a clue as to how it compares to upper class teams. Not sure I’m explaining myself well here. 1 Quote

There’s some damn good small school football being played this year. 1 Quote
Fkfootball Posted October 10, 2025 Posted October 10, 2025 Jeff FC Seymour BNL Just my opinion. I hope I don't get attacked for this. 1 Quote

There’s another thread regarding the top football conferences in the state, I haven’t read it but I doubt the HHC is in the discussion. Quote

Does anyone have a theory on this? Is it because a lot of these schools push basketball pretty hard? Edited October 10, 2025 by Fkfootball Quote

The HHC was listed under “honorable mention”. Tells me everything I need to know about the guy’s level of understanding of Indiana high school football. 1 Quote

Frozen Tundra Posted October 10, 2025 Posted October 10, 2025 Made the drive to Jeffersonville for the East at Jeff game. It’s my first time ever at Jeff’s stadium. I’ve now been to the homefield of every HHC team. Also been to Madison several times. 3 Quote
Frozen Tundra Posted October 10, 2025 Posted October 10, 2025 8 yard TD pass by Villarreal with 7 seconds left in the first quarter and the first quarter ends with a 7-0 East lead. Surprisingly, Villarreal was benched for the first eight minutes of the game. Quote
Frozen Tundra Posted October 11, 2025 Posted October 11, 2025 Halfway through the second, Villarreal forced a bad pass that was returned about 55 yards to the 1. Jeff had a touchdown pass two plays later. East responded with a good drive that resulted in a one yard TD run. East leads 14-7 at the half and will receive the second half kickoff. 1 Quote
Frozen Tundra Posted October 11, 2025 Posted October 11, 2025 (edited) East marched down the field and scored a touchdown on a short run two minutes into the third. East has the ball in the red zone to start the fourth and leads 21-7. Floyd Central beats Jennings County 63-0 Edited October 11, 2025 by Frozen Tundra Quote
Frozen Tundra Posted October 11, 2025 Posted October 11, 2025 (edited) BNL just scored a TD and leads Monrovia 31-20 with 8:30 left Edited October 11, 2025 by Frozen Tundra Quote
Impartial_Observer Posted October 11, 2025 Posted October 11, 2025 Seymour up 27-20 with 5:26 to go. Just recovered a fumble. Seems like they are taking control. Quote
