Frozen Tundra Posted October 28, 2025 Posted October 28, 2025 @boilerfan87 @LC_Bears_04 This very well could be the final week of games involving HHC teams. Based on the standings and based on your picks for this week, there is the potential for a tie atop the standings. Therefore, I want to add the tiebreaker scenario I established last year (but wasn’t needed). Please add a score prediction to ONLY ONE of your picks. Should this be the last week of HHC pick ‘em, and if there’s a tie for first, I will use score predictions to break the tie. If there is no tie or if we end up having another week of pick ‘em then this will be all for naught. How the tiebreaker will work: 1. Did you predict the correct winner of the game? If this doesn’t break the tie then we move on to #2. (This scenario won’t be in play as a Castle win forces a tie while a Floyd Central win doesn’t.) 2. The person whose score prediction is the closest to the actual total points is the winner. (For example, person A predicted a 35-21 score for a game with a 42-21 result. Person B predicted a 52-7 score for a different game with a 70-14 result. Person A would win because their total score of 56 was 7 points off the actual total of 63. Whereas, person B’s total score of 59 was 25 points off the actual total of 84.) If the tie still isn’t broken, we move on to #3. 3. The person whose score prediction of the winning team is closest is the winner. (For example, two people were off by 4 points in their total score predictions in #2. Person A predicted a 24-21 score for a game with a 28-21 result. Person B predicted a 35-3 score for a different game with a 34-8 result. Person B would win because they were off by 1 point on the winning score while person A was off by 4 points.) Quote

Frozen Tundra Posted October 29, 2025 Posted October 29, 2025 Week 11 Picks Jeffersonville (4-5) at 6A #3/4 Center Grove (8-1): Center Grove wins huge. Running clock in the second half. No explanation needed. We already know. The Trojans lead the all-time series 5-0 and each game has been in the postseason. No game in the series has been close this millennium. The only time the Red Devils kept it close was in 1987 in a 17-14 game. Columbus East (5-4) at 5A #7/8 Whiteland (8-2): Once again, the Olympians don’t have the horses to compete with the Warriors. It’s been a theme this decade. Whiteland wins big. They lead the all-time series 8-4 and have won the last four. Of the postseason meetings, Whiteland leads 4-2. East is 0-2 at Whiteland in the postseason. Evansville North (7-2) at New Albany (0-9): Another running clock game as the Bulldogs end their season winless for the first time ever. The Huskies lead the all-time series 3-1, all postseason games. New Albany is 1-1 at home against Evansville North. 5A #7/9 Floyd Central (8-1) at Castle (6-3): I’m pretty torn on this one. The Highlanders have the better record but the Knights have played the better schedule and have better wins. I’m leaning toward Castle on this one just because I have a hard time trusting HHC teams in the postseason aside from Bob Gaddis-coached Columbus East teams. Castle leads the all-time series 7-1 (all postseason games) and has won the last four. Surprisingly, the last six games were at Floyd Central. This is the first game at Castle since the Highlanders played there in back-to-back years in 1993 and 1994. Floyd Central has never won at Castle. Shelbyville (5-5) at BNL (7-3): The Golden Bears come into this game with more than three wins in a season for the first time since 2017 (Patrick Parks’ last season as head coach before retirement). Can they compete with the Stars? I think BNL might have to work for it but they’ll get it done in the end. This is only the second meeting between the two schools as BNL won at Shelbyville 42-21 in the first round of sectionals in 2022. Quote

Castles 2 best wins were against a very down Reitz team and a 5-5 Mater Dei team. Their other 4 wins were against teams with 0-3 wins. Yes, FC beat nobody but BNL. But they are rated 20 spots higher than Castle in the Sagarin. If they can avoid turnovers, they'll be fine. Quote

One could argue that a down Reitz team and a 5-5 Mater Dei team are still better than the entirety of the HHC. I guess we’ll find out for sure tomorrow. 1 Quote

That being said I have seen some public school ball that’s pretty bad. I have a buddy on the staff at Castle, I think Castle is excited to finally get to play FC at home. It’s HS football who knows what a bunch of teenagers are going to do? I let history guide my pick in this game. 1 Quote

I've heard they really aren't that good this year. But I guess we will find out in the month of November. I do think Doug Hurt is a really good coach. Quote

I don't have a horse in this race, but I've been to games at Castle when South played them, and Castle was always a hard out on their home field. I know absolutely nothing about the Castle team this year and can only go by South's games there in the past. I would have the tendency to go with Knights based on past experience there by the Panthers. Having said that, I hope the Highlanders come out victors in that game. If they do, Evansville North (probable next foe) will be an even tougher out. 1 Quote

ptr Posted November 1, 2025 Posted November 1, 2025 Evansville North won 55-7 over New Albany. It should be a very interesting game between the Huskies and the Highlanders next week. I'm really surprised by the margin of the win over Castle. Quote
