Here is an interesting question that I want to ask. Ok, you look at schools like Heritage Hills and East Central, and we'll go with Brownstown as well.

These are all in that "powerhouse", "highly successful" tier. I'll choose my words carefully here. Those are schools you'd consider to be in kind of the "Semi-Rural" type of community. What is it about communities like this, that makes the football programs so consistently good? Does tradition just breed the success? Does it make every kid in the community grow up wanting to play football? Is it the former players who were really good, coming back to coach youth? Are they just exceptional at hiring coaches? What is your alls opinions on how this plays out?

I can’t speak for Heritage Hills but I know East Central and Brownstown have tremendous youth programs.

Every “successful” program has its own dynamics. There’s no magic bullet, however certain factors ALWAYS shine thru. Commitment to a system, hard work, stability in staffs, etc. the difference in dynamics between EC and Brownstown are many, but the tradition, the work, the system, the process, is all the same.
All that being said, my daughter used to play club ball for the HC at Scecina. We practiced at Scecina’s home field, Brookside Park. There were two diamonds there and during SB season the put all the banners up, former all-stars, former state champions, former all state players, etc. it was quite impressive to walk into. I asked several current players at the time, do you feel pressure to live up to the the tradition here, EVERY one of them said yes.
Lastly my last time in EC’s field was for the Mueller game a few years back, it was Yute Night, holy cow, I ain’t seen that many elementary kids rocking world class mullets in my life!

Those kids at East Central, they grow up wanting to play football for the Trojans because all they’ve heard all their lives is how great East Central is. Those players become heroes and legends to the folks that live there and those kids grow up wanting to be just like them. Columbus East used to have that too. It’s a really special thing to see the success of a particular sport year after year inspire and lead to the next generation of great players. It’s a heck of a motivator. East Central is one of the absolute best in this state at doing that.

East Central also benefits GREATLY by having all the execs who choose to live in “rural” Indiana versus the city and the GCL. Plenty of cash around the St Leon area, facilities second to none, and they love their Football over there. Always loved working at EC.

I've heard that FC is trying to get a series with them at some point. Or there has been some talk of that. Would love to go up there and watch a game.

The East job should be an attractive job to those around the state. I am unsure if there will be enough there to pull a Head Coach from a really good program, but a Head Coach at a program thats looking for an upgrade or a coordinator at a top tier school would make sense. I also wonder if there is already a plan in place for a coach with it being a retirement, with the AD being close with the coaches, i doubt this week was the first he knew of the retirement. Is there anyone on staff that may just be the next man up?

I highly doubt it

AJ Moye will find someone good for that job.

I.O. I'm just trying to be optimistic for them! On a side note, I do know AJ through a mutual friend and have spent some time around him. Very competent guy.

Week 12 Schedule

Evansville North (8-2) at 5A #7/9 Floyd Central (9-1) I just think it's going to take a team with a primarily passing offense to beat FC. EN ain't it. I think EN loses a rushing shootout.

BNL (8-3) at Martinsville (5-6)

Super proud and excited for the FC boys tomorrow. I've talked to some of them. They're fired up. This might be the best team they've had since 98. I've seen every team.  They get punished for a bad 1st qtr up in Whiteland but they're a really good team.

I'm not involved in the pick'em contest on here, but I sure like the Highlanders to take the Huskies in this game, especially at home and after rolling the Castle Knights which was very impressive.

On the other hand, I've got a gut feeling that Martinsville is going to make amends for the season opening loss to the Stars and will win that game tonight. The Arties have had a history of playing a notch or two above their normal playing level when it comes to the playoff season.
