It’s not that bad, I’d go up 9.
I do remember the 2001 game with MD was at Brownstown. Not nearly as good of a game as the 2000 game at The Reitz Bowl was.

If I was childless or single I’d have no problem going. However, if I leave my wife and kids on a Friday night for that long of a time then I’m gonna get the cold shoulder from my wife. Lol

Final HHC Pick ‘Em Standings:

@boilerfan87 27/30

@LC_Bears_04 27/30

@gonzoron 26/30

@Fkfootball 25/30

@Frozen Tundra 25/30

@Impartial_Observer 24/30

@mamasa 25/29

@Goose10 15/16

@Bulldog15 4/4

@Uncle Bubba 3/4

We had a tie at the top of the standings this year for the first time ever. While I had intended to use the tiebreaker I came up with last year, I realized over the weekend that the wording I used to explain it wasn’t very clear or concise. See the tiebreaker rules below.

1. Did you predict the correct winner of the game? If this doesn’t break the tie then we move on to #2.

2. The person whose score prediction is the closest to the actual total points is the winner. (For example, person A predicted a 35-21 score for a game with a 42-21 result. Person B predicted a 52-7 score for a different game with a 70-14 result. Person A would win because their total score of 56 was 7 points off the actual total of 63. Whereas, person B’s total score of 59 was 25 points off the actual total of 84.) If the tie still isn’t broken, we move on to #3.

3. The person whose score prediction of the winning team is closest is the winner. (For example, two people were off by 4 points in their total score predictions in #2. Person A predicted a 24-21 score for a game with a 28-21 result. Person B predicted a 35-3 score for a different game with a 34-8 result. Person B would win because they were off by 1 point on the winning score while person A was off by 4 points.)

I have mentioned this in maybe one or two previous posts but tiebreaker #1 was only meant to be used in the event there was a tie going into the final week, there were multiple games going into the final week, and the score was tied after the final week.

For instance, Person A and Person B are tied going into the final week. The final week contains two games. Both Person A and Person B are required to pick a final score of just ONE of those two games.

Here’s a random scenario to illustrate this. Person A picks BNL over Heritage Hills and Floyd Central over Bloomington South. Person A picks the BNL game as the one he wants to give a final score to. He has BNL winning 28-21. Person B picks BNL over Heritage Hills and Floyd Central over Bloomington South as well. However, he picks the FC game as the one he wants to give a final score to. He has FC winning 21-10. Now let’s say BNL wins but FC loses. Both Person A and Person B have the same picks and would each get 1 point. However, Person A gave a score prediction to the BNL game (which he had BNL winning) and Person B gave a score prediction to the FC game (which he had FC winning). BNL won and FC lost so Person A would win the tiebreaker due to having the correct winner in his score prediction game. Therefore, this particular tiebreaker was never meant to be used if someone was a point behind going into the final week.

This all made sense to me in my head but, looking back on it from an alternate perspective, it’s completely convoluted. As a result, I think I’m declaring @boilerfan87 and @LC_Bears_04 as co-winners of the HHC Pick ‘Em contest for 2025.

Going forward, we will use the same rules but I’ll provide more clarity when needed as to whether tiebreaker #1 is needed. Hopefully this makes sense and still isn’t convoluted.

This was posted last night. It’s official. Jennings County will go independent in football next season while remaining in the HHC in other sports. Coach Jason Burton posted the following on Facebook:

”The New Era of Panther Football starts now! New Opponents, New opportunities, a new era of Panther Football kicking off in 2026! What we do between now and August 21st, 2026, will determine if these changes are just words on a paper, or lead to our success. What we do in the weight room, in skill sessions, during spring ball, in the classroom, & in summer ball, all add up to our success next season, & every season after. There’s a place for every athlete in our program. Do you have what it takes to be apart of Panther Football???”

Congrats to the Pickem winner(s). I guess I could make a bunch of excuses about why didn’t do any better, but the bottom line is sometimes you just suck.

I sucked too. Pretty rotten year for me this year. @boilerfan87 and @LC_Bears_04 have proven to be the gold standard. I’m just trying to keep up.

It is but they prefer this over the alternative. They desperately needed to make a change.

O I get it. Watching Pekin and Clarksville do it too was completely understood. Just thought they would do 1 at home and split up the drives to 1 each year. Plus only 3 home games and 6 road (maybe the TBD gets a home but place holder has an "@").

I was told by a coach on the team that they didn’t really have a choice. The teams they were getting to fill in their schedule were due for home games those weeks and they just had to go with it. As for the week 4 TBD game, that will remain an away game. They already have two options for that game and both would require Jennings County to go on the road.

The interesting thing here is that they will be playing their rival, Madison, at home in back-to-back years. It worked out for both teams’ schedules (since Madison is joining the Mid-Southern Conference next year) that Madison would come to North Vernon again. Otherwise, Jennings County would’ve only had two home games.

Pretty common when scheduling to tell everyone up front I need a home game in 26 or 27 or whatever. Football is CRITICAL to keep that 4/5 home game schedule from a monetary standpoint.

The thinking is that they have to make some sacrifices next season in order to get exactly where they want to be in 2027 and onwards

I agree with this. They need to win games. Winning games brings in more fans. Gets more kids interested in playing football. I wish them good success.

We’ll see next week won’t we.

In case you didn’t pick up on the sarcasm, it was a reference knocking a certain someone on the Indiana High School Football Facebook page.

Oh I got it, and as I stated, we’ll see next week won’t we. I really try not to engage with him, aside from the obvious psychological issues, I believe he’s got some behavioral issues as well.

Yeah I try not to interact on that page period. Lots of stupidity on there. I feel like the football IQ is much higher on this site.

The New Albany job is now open as Steve Cooley has resigned. That means three HHC teams are now looking for new head coaches.

Probably a good thing. The conference was awful this year.

I’m hearing some interesting things about Columbus East football right now. One pertains to the head coaching job which I won’t disclose. The other pertains to their classification over the next two years. Apparently East is set to return to 4A for the first time since 2014. I guess the online schooling option the school corporation set up really did a number on East’s enrollment.
