Have heard that a lot of their assistant coaches are no longer around. Is this true? Hard to keep the success up they had all those years with many of those coaches moving on. Just a follow-up to your question, East still has Jonathan Martin as an assistant coach. He’s been at East since the John Stafford days. I believe he’s been there about 30 years now. Frozen Tundra
That’s news to me. I didn’t know he ever got back into coaching. How far back are we talking? In 2019, East honored the 1979 state championship team with a 40th anniversary recognition during the pregame and Stafford was there. Impartial_Observer
I ran across him at a couple of frosh or JV games a few years back. Said he was helping, his grandson was on the team. Time gets away from me, but I would guess in the last 4-6 years.

I wish he was around the program more but I believe he lives in or around Indy so it’s not easy to be at our home games consistently. Impartial_Observer
Retired coaches have a lot to offer younger staffs. Rod Ballart has been at South Dearborn with his son Rand I think since he’s been there. Tyson Moore brought in Zimmerman and another older guy who’s name escapes me, been at Madison and BNL. He may still teach at BNL. Jeff Richey has worked with QB’s at Seymour (under Kelly), North, and now East. I’ve always maintained sports are about relationships, I filled in for a crew on Friday at South Dearborn, when Coach Ballart saw me he said I thought you retired, I said I did, I only took this game so I could see your old man.

Floyd sounds like they want to make the Owls defense to prove themselves i’d they want to win this one. If Floyd sticking with a hard nose RB ground attack or are they working the Owls defense in the air as well? Something has seemed a little off with Seymour defensive approach since Greenwood and it may likely cost them the Conference title. Don't sleep on the Stars. Seymour, or any other team remaining on our schedule, won't hang 40 on us.

As for Floyd Central, they definitely shouldn’t sleep on BNL or anyone for that matter. They’ve been in a position before where they controlled their own destiny (such as last year) and then lost games they shouldn’t have. Will they choke again or will they be able to handle the pressure this time around?

Floyd Centrals only real weakness is pass coverage and the remaining teams on their schedule rely heavily on the run game. Louden is a good QB but he relies a lot on his legs. FCs front seven is too big and too fast to run against. Even St X struggled with it. And offensively they’re hard to stop. Robertson is mobile and has a strong arm. Bernardi was the National Player of the week, last week. He’s an absolute load to tackle. And they have about 6-7 guys to throw the ball to. Coach Bragg says this team has the best leadership of any team he’s coached there.

Fkfootball
Brett Perry is one of the best QBs that I’ve ever seen in this conference. Seymour’s passing game is hard to stop. Coach Moore is a really good play caller. He has some pretty good stuff on his call sheet.

LawrenceGreene
And to use FKfootball's words, we've "already played the hardest and 3rd hardest teams" and neither of them put 40 on us.

I expect BNL to give us a pretty tough game. They have a solid team. I’m not expecting FC to hang 40 on them. It’ll be a 28-21 type of game if I had to guess. Frozen Tundra
This week’s games (week 5): BNL (2-2, 2-0 HHC) at Seymour (2-2, 2-1 HHC) Floyd Central (3-1, 1-0 HHC) at Jeffersonville (0-4, 0-2 HHC) New Albany (1-3, 1-1 HHC) at Columbus East (1-3, 1-1 HHC) Madison (1-3) at Jennings County (2-2) Note: - Floyd Central received 4 votes in the media poll this week but none in the coaches poll. I believe they’re the only HHC team to receive votes in either poll this season so far.

FC. It’s always a trap game to play a 0-fer team in their stadium though. It will be Jeffersonvilles last gasp effort. I expect them to try to spoil FCs season. Col East. New Albany is a mess. I’ve heard that the Locker Room is having some issues there. East isn’t as bad as their record. They’ll win. JC. They have work to do but they’re still better than Madison.
