Laville and Pioneer will have a running clock by halftime if not sooner.

The running clock can not start prior to the beginning of the second half.

I refer to IHSAA Rules and Procedures for clarification:

1. Beginning with the second half of any high school football game, when the point differential between teams is at or reaches 35 points, the game clock shall convert to a running clock.  A running clock is defined as a clock that does not stop during play with the exception of timeouts, scores and/or injuries.

2. Once the running clock is implemented, the clock may not revert back to standard timing protocols regardless of the score of the contest.

3. The 40 second play clock shall remain in effect throughout the contest.

4. Coaches do not have the ability to override the implementation ofthe Mercy Rule during a contest.    The Referee shall notify the head coach of each school when the Mercy Rule goes into effect.  The home team is responsible for notifying timing personnel of the running clock.

Didn't know that. After halftime then.

There were exceptions made due to the effect the pandemic had on roster sizes, allowing the mercy rule timing to start in the first half. No more.

Thanks!

Are those exceptions still in place?

Or are we back to the above stated Rules and Procedures?

Culver at Knox- Knox Football Team

LaVille at Pioneer- Panthers

North Newton at North Judson-San Pierre- Jays

North White at Winamac- Warriors

Triton at Caston- Trojans

What makes you think Pioneer even has a chance to play with LaVille, let alone actually beat them?  After last years beat down in the sectional final, those Pioneer boys don’t want any part of the Lancers.

Only game actually gonna pick a score for is Laville vs Pioneer. I think Laville will score least 35 on everybody besides maybe Judson and with that I see the score

Laville 38 Pioneer 6

Knox

Judson

North White

Triton

If you remember correctly, Pioneer and Judson both beat LaVille last season. It will be a tall order, but I think Pioneer can win this game. They will have to follow their week 3 game plan from last year, control the ball and the clock and keep the Lancer offense off the field. We are playing with a lot of youth, but we were able to knock those early jitters out in week 1. The Lancers will be one of, if not the best team on our regular season schedule and our kids understand that. However, they are embracing that challenge this week and preparing like they can win.

That is exactly how a coach and or player should approach each game!

Culver at Knox - After losing a close one last week, Skins get back on track and head into the Judson game with momentum.  56-14 Knox.

LaVille at Pioneer - Not sure what to think about this years Panthers yet, this week will be very telling. I'm going with Laville in a close one. 28-21 Laville.

North Newton at NJSP - Jays get the job done and start prepping for the week 4 rivalry. 42-7 NJSP.

North White at Winamac - Winamac gets their first W.  35-14 Winamac.

Triton at Caston - Was impressed with Tritons first half last week, I think they learn from last weeks mistakes and win this game easily. 35-7 Triton.

Culver at Knox - Knox is putting up some big offensive numbers this year!  That should continue this week.  The Skins should win pretty easily at home.  Knox 49-13

LaVille at Pioneer - I can't see the Lancers repeating the beatdown of last year's sectional final, but I also don't see this one going down to the wire.  LaVille by 2 TDs and a field goal.  Lancers 31-14

North Newton at North Judson-San Pierre - North Newton might win a few games this year, especially in the weak Midwest Conference.  But they won't be competitive in this one.  Blue Jays 55-7

North White at Winamac - Maybe the closest game of the week.  Winamac should get their first dubya of the season.  Warriors 21-14

Triton at Caston - Triton will re-focus after last week's second half beatdown.  I hope they work on the passing game Friday night, although they certainly won't need it to win this game.  The Trojans will roll.  Triton 48-6

Culver @ Knox- Knox seems to be the sexy pick, but there is nothing sexy about playing Culver.  It’ll be a fight.  Culver chews clock.  Goes for it on 4th down a lot and makes a game out of it.  Knox 26-22

LaVille @ Pioneer- Lancers are running on all cylinders here in the early season. Pioneer has a program of great pride and tradition.  However, Pioneer is short a few hogs for this matchup.  Laville 42-6

Triton @ Caston- Triton gets back on track with a running clock.  Triton 50-12

North White @ Winamac-  Playing at home has to be worth at least 3 points right?  Winamac 3-0

Calumet Christian @ NJSP- Who is Calumet Christian?  More like who cares!? Cheyenne Allen will become the all-time points leader at NJSP with his next point scored.  He is a closing in on the all-time rushing record as well.  Both records are in play as they Bluejays keep this thing rolling.  NJSP 52-0

What happened to North Newton?

Not enough players to play this Friday. Calumet Christian has been lined-up since Monday. Other schools were also contacted, but they had the same issue as North Newton. It's sad that schools can't even field football teams anymore.

Calumet Christian beat Hammond Noll a couple of weeks ago. They play Bowman Academy in a couple of weeks. Otherwise, they play a lot of non-IHSAA Christian/homeschool schools. They could be better than what NN would have brought, if healthy.
