  3. Frontier geographically has a nice pocket to pull from: like 10 mins from Harrison (6a) and their QB left from Tri County after his Soph year. Really no different from my neck of woods, there are families that will choose to go to Boone Grove instead of Crown Point: Takes 12 mins to get to BGHS, from Lake of 4 Seasons/Winfield area, where it takes 25 good minutes to get to CPHS school of 4000 and still growing
  4. We choose in Rensselaer Football to not even worry or care about those limited practice times in spring. I personally know it's tough right now: Our Hoops and FB kids, start at like 3:30 in the summer and finished at 8 pm it seemed. Hoops did workouts until 5:30: then we had our practice set for 6-8 in the summer.. Plus our weight program in mornings.
  5. The big issues a lot of the coaches at (I assume) smaller schools seem to be having is sharing. If there's an open period, you want your athletes practicing with you during that period. Most of the time at smaller schools, those athletes are already actively practicing for a in season sport. Every missed session is a wasted day in the football coaches mind. The kids get burnt out essentially playing three sports year round. Lose lose situation for everyone. Like a coach mentioned in the survey, lift weights all off season but don't pressure the kids to think they need to be playing football year round. Start ramping up in the summer. Obviously for the bigger schools where one sport specialization is more common this would probably actually hurt them more than it would help. It's hard for the IHSAA because the law you write for Hamilton Southeastern has to be followed by Sheridan and vice-versa. I feel like having less live periods would help 1A through 4A with turnout and burnout, but it would hurt 5A and 6A (and some 3a and 4a schools) where one sport specialization is more prevalent. And of course if only 1A-4A had less live periods it would leave them at an even larger disadvantage when playing those bigger schools simply due to less time spent together. I think they mean any sort of organized sport outside of the school. 7 on 7, AAU, travel baseball etc.
  6. Floyd Central at Charlestown.
  7. Today
  8. I really doubt anybody would pay 6$ a month for the privilege to look at the takes on here. I don't really see the harm in lurking, also ads exist.
  9. BNL still scrimmage Brownstown?
  10. Yesterday
  11. Ec big school champs, fc small school champs. Ec makes a big run in 4a again. L'burg makes a nice run in tournament I believe. Spartans, lions, pirates struggle again, SD and batesville get better. Should be interesting season. Good luck to all!!
  12. That didn't take long. I get that it wasn't his ORIGINAL vision. Maybe keep the content visible for members only?
  13. This site is averaging over 100 views for every response. I think Tim Adams goal was to have active participation rather than a bunch of viewer who provide zero content. A subscription of $5.99 per month would keep the viewers, but now they are members and might even use their keyboards to provide something rather than freeload.
  14. It seems they have some talented multi sport athletes from it, so it seems some know how to share. Ryker Dengler is a prime example.
  15. WW is at North Harrison i believe Valley at Pekin Mitchell scrimmages Salem. Can't remember where.
  16. I noticed that recently. I had the Marquee network on while I was working around the house, and they were showing the Iowa State finals. That said though, it still pulls kids from summer workouts for football. Tough spot when it comes to programs that really need to share athletes.
  17. Silver Creek is at Seymour. A sort of homecoming for Papenhaus.
  18. Why I like that Iowa makes baseball & softball a "summer" sport and essentially they have 4 seasons.
  19. My guess is some coaches meant a particular sport while others meant all travel sports. As far as baseball, I do know of coaches who see summer ball as an extension of the regular season, so he expects kids to choose baseball over football. I don't agree with it at all, but it is a reality. It has been my experience too that many kids will choose their summer club team games over football workouts.
  20. Max Preps is about as useless as a wet fart right now.
  21. Well, it is Scrimmage week! Who is playing who? Commodores travel to Southridge for a Jamboree including South Spencer.
  22. I think everything you just said is accurate. It’s a shame. Too many kids would rather stay home and play Madden, then play the real thing. I know the kids in Floyd County are still heavy involved in sports. The New Albany kids are all about basketball. It’s a religion down there.
  23. I will say from playing MD over the years - they NEVER seem to have that problem of getting wrestlers out. Middle weights (140+) are always on the field. Makes sense...wrestlers always make the best tacklers
  24. Warren should be one of the top 5 teams in the state. I don't think they're going to surprise anyone if they're good. Ben Davis has the potential to be much better this year. The problem is that the schedule is really tough and they're in the same Sectional with Brownsburg. The Giants return some starters and have some good youngsters. They've had a coaching staff overhaul with new coordinators and things. Hard to call the Giants a darkhorse or a surprise though given the talent level and the past history in the last 40 years.
