Wabash River Conference Pre Season Thread
WRC123 replied to Donnie Baker's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
With the season officially starting I would like to make a couple changes from my previous predictions 1. Panthers - by a long shot still the favorite. 2. Seeger - Playing the bigger schools this summer will help them early on and I see them playing every tough game on their schedule close 3. Mustangs - I've only heard good things about them. They held a scrimmage at Franklin College and beat everyone there even the likes of Sheridan 4. Covington - Another team that I've only heard good things about. They will be upper classmen heavy and Wheeler will ground and pound it out 5. PH - Not sold on them yet. Losing Rector during the summer is a huge loss as well. They should be very competitive 6. SV - One year away from being competitive 7. NV - One year away from being competitive 8. Attica - still improving The WRC is nearing another period where there are going to be multiple very good teams. -

Team Season and Game Statistics

Trojan67 - thanks for response. So I gather you do live stats at game, in press box with laptop loaded with a software ie Turbostats. Are you a member of the staff or a volunteer? Do you have the added responsibility of film and drone operation? Thanks. -
I have recently heard that Wabash and now Elwood high schools are struggling to field enough players to effectively even hold practices, let alone field a varsity squad. Coaches and AD's have had to to put out a pleas to their communities for more youth to consider playing. Is this a growing trend in Indiana, are there more schools out there in the same boat as the Apaches and Panthers? Sounds like recent IHSAA decision not to allow co-op programs is going to ultimately reduce the number of youth playing varsity football.

Thank you for your support. With "big time" football success inevitably comes big time football problems, issues, and pressure. Can the IU athletic department and the city of Bloomington handle it?
-
With the season finally here, what's the news coming out of practice sites? Hearing a lot of new good things with Wawasee. Big change in offense with the addition of Coach Epply to the staff. Also sounds like Northridge is much improved.

Zimmerman is actually a good coach. That’s just a ridiculously hard job. Dropping down was a good decision. They need to rack up some wins and get some momentum going. Get some kids excited about football. There is nothing harder than recruiting kids from the hallways to play for teams that always lose. -

I am the statistician at Triton. I started out using Hudl live stats. That feature had a lot of good, but had a lot of problems. Hudl refused to update this feature and made it difficult are forcing small programs who may not have the funding to buy their Assist package or go in manually to do stats on their own. I made the executive decision to go to other programs just to give media what they wanted on Friday nights and used one of the free programs. It did alright, but it wasn't something that I felt was best for efficiency. I finally landed on Statman. I used it for a couple of seasons and really liked the stats we got from the game. I was able to send reports to the press and then upload everything to Maxpreps. The issue is typing. I didn't have spotters feeding me info and when you only have between 20-35 seconds, you have to be on point. Thankfully, Triton live streams the games so I can go back and fix errors at half and the end, but I have been really trying to find a program that you hit the button like what Hudl live stats did. So this year we decided to go with TurboStats and see if this will be something for the future. -

Wow. Kind of crazy to hear that. Speaking of former HHC head coaches becoming assistant coaches, I’ve had it confirmed from numerous sources that two-time former Jennings County head coach Rick Zimmerman is back on the Panthers’ staff. His 2015 JC team went 6-4. That’s the only time since 1997 that Jennings County has had a winning record. Since leaving after the 2016 season, Zimmerman spent three years as the head coach at South Decatur, three years at Seymour as an assistant, and was the head coach at Rushville last year. -

Interesting coaching update. Former New Albany coach Steve Cooley is on Floyd Centrals staff now. Not sure what his role is but I’m sure it’s on the offensive side. That’s a pretty big move because he’s a really good offensive mind. Not sure what happened at New Albany but they’re almost Jeffersonville-lite when it comes to football culture. - Yesterday

Just read the same, and link below to an article confirming IU and ND series not happening. Indiana football series with Notre Dame, scheduled for 2030-31, canceled
-
Notre Dame and USC to renew college football’s greatest intersectional rivalry, starting with the 2030 season opener in the Coliseum. A 4 yr. home & home deal. Reportedly, ND’s proposed series with IU is not happening.

Season officially started today, good luck to all the teams this year!

I hope so if you are talking schools that year in and year out of fielding outstanding football teams. If you are talking criminal activity, perhaps you might want to introduce fact with your comments. On the other hand, I guess that's the closest we will ever get of you admitting you only shared a part of the story. Too bad we don't have a clown to choose from with the other emoji options.

And I'm still upright and hoping to see some football soon!
