  1. SF -- Totally unrelated to the content: Dear God, man! We already have Muda cut-n-pasting entire dissertations into "his" posts, don't tell me you are going to start copying him in in doing that?! I'm quite willing to read a few paragraphs of your or someone else on the forum's original "take" on an issue. But if all you are doing is repeating some other person's "take", can't you just give us the link and say something like "ditto"?

  2. Same. I met up with 09er and LCCAlum a few times when Pioneer and LCC played. Both are nice guys and basically played a gimmick online, especially 09er. 09er let me sit in his car during halftime and we both looked up scores around the state. I even had the pleasure of meeting his father, Frank, before. The entire LCC fanbase was always a class act whenever I visited LaRocca Field. I've heard horror stories from other Pioneer fans from 15-20 years ago, but I never personally witnessed anything remotely negative.

  3. Step up! Congrats to 09er. I met him a few years back when my wife and I attended an LCC/Guerin Catholic game at Lucas Oil. Very nice young man. We found him to be well mannered and jovial. He was nothing like the character he played on here. We wish him well.

  5. I’m not sure moving to the SIAC is the best move for jasper or GS I see the argument....but I’m just like meh. The only positive i see out of it is there are no more “well if you played a SIAC schedule” or “team x is better than team Y via transitive property”

  8. accountability lies within the coaching and admin community If I knew for a fact that a kid I was coaching against had too many quarters my options are: 1) contact my AD with proof via film from Friday night games with plays played and which quarter and film of JV game likewise: AD would then choose to decide to contact the opponent school and IHSAA to file a claim, if founded, IHSAA would on the next executive board minutes list the infraction and penalty of forfeiture, followed by a strict warning to the HC of the infraction team 2) Do nothing , Not my monkey, not my circus (this is the route I take) I personally am the one who is in charge of this for my team/school. I will not "cheat" quarters for 1 simple fact, if that player gets significantly injured in a quarter that I knowingly and willfully played him in, then I would be held liable. Thanks, but no Thanks on that one, I will just map out the quarters each week and stick to that plan, if we end up having to cancel a Freshman game because we run out of players, so be it, but in our area, Freshman teams seem to be a luxury these days.

  10. https://www.marketwatch.com/story/ocasio-cortez-on-discovering-garbage-disposals-it-is-terrifying-2019-05-07 ‘I am told this is a garbage disposal. I’ve never seen a garbage disposal. I never had one in any place I’ve ever lived. It is terrifying. I don’t know what it’s for, or what its purpose is. Like, food scraps? Like, is this environmentally sound?’ More importantly - why is it so loud and yelling at me? Are we really supposed to believe she is this stupid? She went to college, She worked in a bar - and has never seen a garbage disposal?

  12. I have faith in the coaching staff to develop athletes and get them game ready, I just wish there was more kids coming out in order to build depth. It is the same story in a lot of places, many kids don't want to put in the work.

  13. Thanks! No need to take it on the road, though. I have a captive audience right here on the OOB that reacts or responds to every post I make. So what if they're hecklers? It's an audience that gives me laughs. A mudarater seems to be my #1 fan, but don't feel bad, you're #2!

It can do the same for educating America's children too.

  22. We will agree to disagree. Anyone who will equate the battle hymn of the republic where the (admittedly religious) lyrics promote freedom to the savage lyrics these kids were singing where they celebrate torture and death to achieve their goal of the entire world conforming to their religion and laws is not worth debating with. Huge difference between oppression and freedom.....

Without a true free market in education to provide needed competition and information to management it sound like pretty much "raise the salaries until the teachers stop bitching". https://www.forbes.com/sites/timworstall/2016/09/15/sure-if-youve-a-teacher-shortage-then-raising-teacher-pay-sounds-sensible/#670caba3075c https://files.texaspolicy.com/uploads/2018/08/16092838/Veritas-Issue2-ed-article.pdf

  26. Brown v. Board Did Not Start Private Schooling: https://www.cato.org/blog/brown-v-board-did-not-start-private-schooling Kudos to Prof. Wingfield for making clear that many public schools were “strictly racially segregated,” which often seems to be soft pedaled when linking choice to segregation. But her assertion that private schooling didn’t “really” begin to grow until after Brown is not borne out by the data. As the chart below shows, while the share of enrollment in private schools spiked in 1959, the growth in private schooling didn’t suddenly increase right before that. In 1889—the earliest year available— the private school share was 11 percent, dipping to 7 percent in 1919, then pretty steadily rising until the 1959 peak. (Note, the earlier years of the federal data are in ten-year increments. Also, data include pre-K enrollments.) History is clear that private education has long been with us, and while it has certainly at times been used to avoid racial integration, it has also been employed for reasons having nothing to do with that. This remains true even in our relatively modern era in which “free” public schools have crowded out many private options.

  27. I also find it interesting that Dante seems to believe Mr. Beal taught government to Mr. Williamson, the author of the article I linked. Instead of objectively addressing any of the arguments and statements Mr. Williamson makes he instead attacks the career and character of a dead government school teacher. Again: troll.
