  1. Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot Says People Charged With Violent Crimes Are Guilty Because Prosecutors Say So https://reason.com/2022/06/07/chicago-mayor-lori-lightfoot-says-people-charged-with-violent-crimes-are-guilty-because-prosecutors-say-so/?itm_source=parsely-api This is what we get when you have a judicial system where getting a plea deal out of a defendant, regardless of guilt or innocence, is the primary goal. This is because most prosecutors are too lazy or just don't want to take the risk of a jury trial. Most obviously hate or fear actual litigation. Makes you wonder why they got into the legal profession in the first place.

  2. Never thought I'd see the day that Warren would run & hide. Could make regionals interesting. What is Kirschner's record against CG? Regular season wouldn't surprise me. Playoffs would.

  3. Probably works out better for Center Grove. St. X, Trinity, St. Ed's, etc would likely love to get a chance to play Center Grove. All those are massive upgrades from the aforementioned. Doubt CG is losing any sleep over it.

  4. You say a rough patch, but what is CG supposed to do? Not win? Not run a successful program? I think it’s a shame that the biggest schools in the state won’t play them. What does that say about those schools and those programs? Decatur or Roncalli aren’t as big obviously, but shoot they are good programs and if I’m trying to keep building my program I keep them on the schedule. Doesn’t hurt a thing. Warren has no excuse. None of those MIC schools have any excuse. But the flip side is for CG. If I’m them, I may not want to play MIC schools after them kicking me out of the conference. The whole thing is a shame. Warren not wanting to play CG in the regular season is a disgrace to high school football.

  6. Great point. It always reminds SF of when a professor once asked me what is the basis of our free market economy - "What is the sole purpose of a US business?" Answer - to create profit. Not "provide a service or a good", not "to employee people" create profit. One of the undeniable truths in the US free market economy. Revenue minus expenses equals profit.

  8. I don’t think so. I think it’s more of Warren saying, “can we find a game that we can win?” Intimidation

  9. Yes. I know this is a football forum, but my view of conference changes is based upon the entirety of the school programs. Football and boys basketball tend to be the “bread winners” of the athletic family and often drive the discussion of conference moves, but conference changes need to be made with all programs in mind unless it is a sport specific conference. It’s not always easy for AD’s and administrators to get coaches to understand that. Their views are naturally going to be focused on the impact of any moves on their program, and sometimes AD’s and admin allow them to have too much of a voice. If they are a good coach, AD’s often listen because they don’t want to risk losing them.

  10. There's no "price gouging" by US gas stations or oil companies. Come on - This is a prime example why the US needs out of OPEC and why we need to get to energy independence in the US so we can quit relying on other countries for our oil.

  12. Agreed. Exactly what is Geico's liability and culpability in this case? Did the boyfriend have a sexually-transmitted disease rider on his policy? 🙂

  13. Same 'reasons' that Carroll and Homestead aren't FULL members of the SAC.... Domination would ensue in the country club sports/academic events/etc.. Not many one outside of those 2 would get 'patches' on their letter jackets.
