  1. Why is that? From 2009 to 2012 Bishop Luers was 24-0 in the post season with only two games decided by less than 10 points. If that's not dominance, I'm not sure what is. Average margin of victory 26 points. Lafayette Central Catholic also went 24-0 during that same time period with the closest game being 10 points. Average margin of victory 36 points. Warren Central was also 24-0 during their run. Only two games decided by less than 7 points. Average margin of victory 34 points. Looks to me like Lafayette Central Catholic is the winner here.

  2. Let’s not forget the run by design in spread…. Jett had a 80 yd TD and 60 yd TD run called back….down 23-0 at one point was not due to GS bad start::: HH imposes their will on GS in all three phases of the game… I give GS credit in their hurry up 2 minute drill offense… as they moved the ball well in the passing game for last 6-7 minutes of 4th qtr but for 3 1/2 qtrs I witnessed complete silence and shock on the GS side…GS is great team that in all of their losses and the Mt Carmel game…. Found themselves in a decent hole… only their style of offense could score quick and get back into the game thank goodness HH is a run dominant team as it reeled off 17 play drive and 4 first downs that consumed 9 minutes of the clock…. if HH can move the ball and spread BC out … man on man type coverage, I like our chances better this go around than in 2019. I hope BC underestimates the Poverty Boys from Lincoln City!!

  3. Sounds familiar… I will say HH has a knack for making the plays when it matters the most. And ultimately- that’s why they’re playing in the biggest game of the year. Championship teams figure out a way to make those plays. I’ll say this- I have no idea how the game will go- but HH’s defense is very legit.

  5. A couple other items I look at with DC is that they lost by two scores to Whiteland earlier in the season and then just wiped them out 41-7 in the regional game. They barely beat Plainfield earlier in the season, but on a similar vein, Harrison dropped a one-point game to Plainfield early in the season and then manhandled them in the sectional 39-13. I think DC is a wolf in sheep's clothing looking at the season as a whole as opposed to "a tale of two seasons."

  6. Center Grove was an OT loss by 3 to Ben Davis away from possibly matching Warren Central 4 consecutive State Championships (they would have had to beat Crown Point which I think they would have). That would have put CG in 5 consecutive State Championships and possibly above the WC dynasty (CG lost to Carmel in 2019 20-17 then won 2020, 2021, and 2022)

  7. College football is different because you have super conferences, whereas you don't in high school. There are over 350 football teams in the state of Indiana and I'm not sure there is once conference that has over 10 teams in it. That being said, including a team that finished 3rd in their own conference would bore me to tears. Do I think an 8 team tournament with Carroll instead of HSE is more interesting on a state wide level? Absolutely. But I honestly wouldn't see it coming down to that as I don't have either in the Top 8.

  9. I believe that is... kinda... correct. As I said, I think they somehow managed to only acquire points in 1 of 2 years in 3A that didn't warrant them moving up. 3A - 2011 - 4 points State Champs 3A - 2012 - 4 points State Champs -> move up to 4A 4A - 2013 - 1 point Sectional Champs 4A - 2014 - Sectional loss 0 points -> move back to 3A 3A - 2015 - 4 points State Champs 3A - 2016 - Sectional loss 0 points -> stay in 3A 3A - 2017 - 1 point Sectional Champs 3A - 2018 - 2 points Regional Champs -> stay in 3A 3A - 2019 - 4 points State Champs 3A - 2020 - 4 points State Champs -> move to 4A 4A - 2021 - Sectional loss 0 points -> IHSAA did some sort of weird thing and because enrollments during Covid 2020 school year were all out of whack. So they determined any schools playing UP that acquired at least 1 point during this season would STAY. Any schools that did not earn a point were returned to their lower class 3A - 2022 - 4 points State Champs 3A - 2023 - 3 point a a minimum -> move to 4A next season So basically, their 2016 sectional championship loss to Danville prevented them from getting at least 2 points that season to bump up the next cycle. And then their 2021 sectional championship loss Roncalli prevented them from staying up in 4A these last 2 seasons.

  10. West vigo would not go to 28. They would go to 29 and 29 would move someone north…assuming logical choices by the ihsaa and minimal enrollment changes which includes west vigo. I would guess that speedway/tri west would move to 28 to fill that void…and it’s probably speedway because Danville/triwest/ Webo/crawfordsville are already kinda a thing. Imo…the biggest issue with 3A and it’s bracket is the region…specifically Lafayette. There are a lot of big schools in the region and tons of tiny 2A/1A schools….some years WL is paired with Indy teams…some years they have to play Hanover/Calumet. It’s kind of a no man’s land for 3A.

  11. For the record, the work you have done on these stats this year is probably the coolest thing on the GID.

  12. How could you know which side of the line Pike Central will fall when we have no idea where such a line will be? Also, there is no real line. More like stacking decks of cards. Pike Central talk in November? First for everything.

  13. Martinsville forced EC to go hard into the third quarter, which I considered quite an accomplishment for the Arties considering this EC team's dominance and consecutive sectional shellackings experienced at St. Leon.

  14. Maybe not total ruin, but it certainly can impact kids transferring, fan support, finances and overall positive momentum in a program. Transfers: Why go here (or stay here) if we face a guaranteed buzz saw in sectionals or regionals. Fan Support: It may not be immediate, but after 2 years of early playoff losses many lose interest. Finances: Less concessions and merchandise money with less games. Less support as success diminishes. Positive Momentum: After consecutive years of deep playoff runs and/or a state title, momentum is at its peak. Lose in the 1st or 2nd round 2 years in a row and by the time it resets the positive mojo just isn't what it was. If the idea behind SF is to offset open enrollment in public schools and/or no district map in private schools, the better equation would be evaluating rosters for organic enrollment. Have AD's submit an affidavit showing where ROSTERED PLAYERS attended 7th and 8th grade, as well as any high school transfers. If more than X number or Y percent is over a threshold, have a SF policy that deals with it.
