It was on this day 46 years ago December 9, 1977 that the 1977 AAA state champion Portage Indian football team, coaches, cheerleaders and Pom Pon girls traveled to WGN studios in Chicago to appear on The Ray Rayner Show.

Got it, no problem. Yes, the 2021 state game is played with kids in the class of 2022.

This was Penn's issue for most of the 90's they were state contender's but until they started playing BD yearly, that is when Penn takes off and wins 2 out of 3 titles in 5 years. The 95 title I think was a team that transcended their schedule no mater what.

I’ll take the Trojans by four touchdowns in that scenario. You continue to be too kind to non Indy 6A teams. Not sure what else you need to see.

The crazy thing is how quickly Moore turned CG around. They have had some bumps in the road. But, his first season they go 5-5 and season 2 they are playing in the state finals. King had good teams going into the playoffs but couldn't generate any momentum in the playoffs. Moore has developed a Juggernaut. Seasons that were not what we come to expect from CG: 04, 05, 06 and 17 all ended around .500....They went 9-2 in 07 that ended in sectionals and a 7-3 season in 10 that ended in sectionals. Other than that they are competing for Regional, Semi or State titles. They are the measuring stick of how a program in Indiana today. Very impressed with the CG community and with Coach Moore.

Friday September 11, 1959 at Central Catholic Frankfort 32 Central Catholic 13 LCC 6-0-0-7 Frank 6-7-7-12 This was the first game on LCC's new field and the first game for LCC's new coach Jim Shea. Friday September 18, 1959 at Southwestern Central Catholic 19 Southwestern 2 LCC 6-7-0-6 SW 0-0-0-2 LCC punter stepped out of the end zone for Southwestern's only points. Tuesday September 22, 1959 at Central Catholic Central Catholic 27 Klondike 0 LCC 6-14-0-7 Klon 0-0-0-0 This was Klondike's first 11 man football game of the year. They had 3 six man football victories. Friday September 25, 1959 at Rensselaer Rensselaer 32 Central Catholic 0 LCC 0-0-0-0 Re 13-6-6-7 LCC threw 4 interceptions. Things didn't go well in their first game against Rensselaer. Friday October 2, 1959 at Central Catholic Danville, IL (Schlarman) 24 Central Catholic 6 LCC 6-0-0-0 Sch 0-12-6-6 LCC threw 3 interceptions Jack Hubertz scored for LCC Tuesday October 6, 1959 at Delphi Central Catholic 25 Delphi 21 LCC 0-12-6-7 Del 7-0-0-14 Jack Hubertz scored 3 td's for LCC. Delphi scored twice in the final 4 minutes of the game. The game was played on a soggy field. Wednesday October 21, 1959 at West Lafayette West Lafayette 21 Central Catholic 13 LCC 0-0-0-13 WL 15-0-0-6 2000 fans witnessed the first game between WL and LCC. LCC had 5 turnovers in the game. CC scored with 1:43 left in the game to make the score 21-13. LCC got the ball back and threw a long pass at the end of the game, but the pass fell short. Friday October 30 at Central Catholic Terre Haute Schulte 33 Central Catholic 21 LCC 0-7-7-7 Schulte 13-14-6-0 LCC had 6 turnovers in the game. Tom Moser scored 2 td's for LCC. LCC bid farewell to Seniors Jack Morrison, Paul Sanders, Dan McGuire, Ron Edmundson, Don Rowland, and Jack Hubertz. LCC finished the season 3-5

Penn administration and coaching seem to care more about the perception of a winning program then actually having a program that is respected by the Indy teams....Penn is an after thought in 6A football... They pissed away their chance against CP to maybe prove something, and now with this laughable schedule, it wont get any better. Adams, Washington and Riley provide you nothing in prep for what is ahead.

My Theory: Lcc has long had Safteyitis It's a disease... afflicts certain programs perhaps genetically related I haven't been able to pinpoint the cause.. or isolate the symptoms... but I can recognize em when I c em an accurately predict a reocuuance... n did so on the 1st big game with RC when RC won State. It held up till late in the 4th Q RC 2 Lcc 0 Being a man of science, I was hopeful u could come up with a cure... when at Harrison but guess ur baffled as well... as its the other program I aware of that has an affliction ... its manifestations r actually worse... resulting in Fumbleitis ... swear da God it is....

I think the Giants should still be pretty good. Isaiah Rogers has one of the best arms I've ever seen in a high school quarterback. I mean, his ball means business coming off his arm. It's going to be incredibly hard to replace the leadership the Giants will be losing on the field and off (Kevin Vanderbush retiring), but I think Coach Mann and his staff will "go back into the lab" and figure something out. I was really impressed with Russ this year. While he landed on second or third base with this roster, he certainly never acted like it the way he coached them up. As far as the rest of 6A goes, I would expect Warren will have a lights out, championship defense. They were very young this year. If they can figure something out on offense, they could certainly have enough to hang a plaque. Center Grove's not going anywhere. You'll probably see those HCC teams continuing to show what they're made of...especially Westfield who, anecdotally, I heard was a year ahead of where they thought they'd be. I'm interested to see what happens with Sectional realignment this year. With Snider joining 6A, that likely pushes Fishers and HSE south again since the IHSAA does not want to separate schools in the same district. Of course, that depends on what squads end up at the bottom of 6A and drop to 5A with Cathedral and Snider up.
