Carroll -3 with it being at home, extremely tough to win at Carroll Snider and Warren I have no clue yet so I will just say it is a pick em game. Wish this game was a week later so we all could see what is what for both teams. Something tells me the winner win by double digits

They will be a contender in the North for 5A this year. Expect them to be playing for a regional title. Where that puts them, not sure, somewhere around 25-30

Corydon hosted Providence on the new turf last night.

Mostly older coaches. Several have been head coaches before. Not many young coaches there…do you think at some point they will need to go for younger coaches?

I mentioned this a while back that scholarships will likely be replaced by contracts. And as Bob said, that leads to them becoming employees. I guess an NIL deal could have those considerations from a company not connected to the school. But I think if a school adds that requirement, it becomes more of a contract.

In the case of Warren specifically, there’s a big difference between serviceable varsity players and guys that will go on to play high level D1 football. You really expect Kirschner to turn those guys away or not jump at the opportunity to bring them in? C’mon man, don’t be naive. Coaches down in Indy aren’t getting paid 100K+ (as it’s been reported here before) to appease guys on the internet and live up to their cheesy movie notions of high school sports. They’re paid first and foremost to win football games. Know some people on here might not like to hear that, but that’s the truth. “You can’t win a race if you’re not driving a Ferrari” as they say.

They need to just make it a free for all like College. You can't stop this stuff. I'm old school like most of you. But just let kids play where they want to play.

OK, it’s not football. But the event was big enough to warrant mention here. 50 years ago today, the invincible UCLA Bruins basketball team came into South Bend, riding an NCAA record 88 game winning streak. Just 20 days after the Irish football team upset mighty Alabama in the Sugar Bowl to win the national championship, the basketball team took down the 7-time defending champs 71-70, scoring the last 11 pts. of the game. I was there in person at both games. I can still see The Iceman, Dwight Clay, rising on the right baseline for the game winner. When we got up the next morning (OK, it might have been afternoon), the Irish were national champs in football and ranked #1 in basketball.
