  1. I have NO IDEA of what you are getting at... But thanks for the comment on the apparently OBVIOUS nature of the selections
  2. Yes that was Rex Grossman, torching the heck out of the Spartans in their ONLY State Finals appearance. 97/98 might have been the only time in the "pre-SAC" era, that HHS/Snider were on the same standing. The local (HHS Area) feeling was that we should be playing more of an SAC style schedule. The ensuing years getting beat by Norwell, East Noble, Huntington North and the like kinda put that dream to rest for a while.
  3. My (younger) brother's Homestead Spartan team was so proud of reaching the 1998 State Finals it was ridiculous. After having been TORCHED by Rick Mirer at the 4A level in a playoff game (during HIS time as a player, 1988). He thought they had climbed the FB mountaintop a decade later, while he was in the Marine Corps.... and would bring home the Championship hardware. Uh, nope! They got SMOKED by Bloomington South!
  4. Jaylon Smith (2A Bishop Luers) and Jack Kiser (1A Pioneer) have won this award... RECENTLY IMO. Brady Allen totally blew the State away with his performances this year! So let's not put aside that 'lower' classes or schools outside of the Indy Metro Area aren't deserving of any award, especially this one.
  5. Which is exactly why they need to BOLT the Summit Athletic Conference as a "money grab/part-time" BB and FB member in a closed conference..... ** Correction... SUBURBAN Fort Wayne is experiencing a growth explosion; Get ready to welcome Leo to the 6A dance within 5-10 years also.
  6. FAMILY ... Absolutely Wonderful! Guess I am am a "sorta" ND Fan now. Thanks @Bobref
  7. At the risk of upsetting and/or placing those of you whom I have known for years in an "uncomfortable situation". I've tried my best to NOT comment on this situation. As we deal with 'education based athletics', it is apparent to THIS man; A focus on the totality of AMERICAN HISTORY and how it has been given a pass that has never taught in any way that has given any focus on the individuals/races/societies that have been the brunt of the inequality of the "American Ethos" at any time other than 2 short lived times in American History (Reconstruction and 1965-1980), an approach with our educational system that could perhaps EDUCATE our children on the reasons why certain activities, utterances, and behaviors need to be a part of the reason that we as "Americans" need to understand that we are a UNIQUE society in today's world. I have always been surprised at the multi-racial composition of the children in the State of Indiana. When I began this thing called "officiating" I can recall being at sites where I was the ONLY minority at the contest. Today, that almost NEVER happens! And I only see UNIFORMS....not the racial component of the players. If I ever do that, then that will be the day I quit! I can promise you that!!!! On a personal level: Ask yourselves... Do YOU know, I mean KNOW an individual of a race/culture/sexual-persuasion in a deeply person level.? If not, then you only are an acquaintance! Once you can understand the personal feelings and reasons that they may differ from your beliefs, and the ACCEPT those and STILL be a friend...only at that time can you truly (in your heart and soul) be a person that is in eyes of the Lord and Savior, a person that is understanding and acceptable of ALL God's Children. The young man from Center Grove, (IMO) is not indicative of that program, School Corporation or anything else related in anyway/shape or form. But to also think that there are not some individuals within the Westfield community who also may have the same thoughts BEYOND their support for the Shamrocks, is foolish. We are ALL better than this in 2021... This young man has ruined his current situation, and perhaps things beyond that. That is a fact. But please, let's not devolve into a "Holier Than Though" situation that has no answers to what we should all hope for as Hoosiers, and Americans! Seek iout those that are not within your preview, and understand their lives/situations/experiences. You might find that they are a lot like you. Just my .02 From the bottom of my heart.....
  8. Don't recall that name, sorry Ly
  9. I am just a HS guy. I do have a member of my crew who does College FB also. I did College BA for years. But left a while back...
  10. I met Coach Gilbert a few years back at a Regional (2013 South Adams). A bitterly cold night; And out walks this 'grizzled- gentlemanly Coach' in a short-sleeved shirt and tie. Welp, ya got my respect IMMEDIATELY! He was in charge from start to finish. They went on to win that evening, the next week at Semi-State and off to LOS. At the Monday meeting of teams, officials, media, and IHSAA Staff. I made darned sure to take a "B-Line", shake his hand and wish him and Tri-Central the very best in the 1A Final vs. Eastern Hancock. Here's what I know, he helped make me, and the crew better! I wish Coach Gilbert the very best. And I feel proud to have been a small part of his journey. He's been a large part of ours.
  11. I am with that. But gotta get those damned Cowboys to change to the "Shirts" to keep it real!
  12. Perhaps if you were an IFOA Member @Major you would have seen the HISTORY of this crew. Since you knew NOTHING about them.... A 5A State Championship Assignment, (2) 6A State Championship Games.....ranked in the Top 5 often (#1 Multiple times) ... State Finals appearances among the crew in multiple sports (at least 27 amongst the crew members). So here's my final response to your idiotic commentary/evaluation!
  13. Thank you my friend. I just am tired of the "bitching season" that comes after EVERY sport where an official/crew just KNOWS exactly what 'they' would have done, or how to do it... But when you offer suggestive tips on how to "get better"...Goes in one ear and out the other. And so it goes. This will reoccur next year in conjunction with the State Finals, I guarantee it!
  14. Thank you... I thought this was directed at our "crew"... Obviously @Majorwho proclaims to be a both a Coach and and Unbiased Official is a total poser. Perhaps he could DM and reveal his identity....though I already know it! 😂 C.S. No need to say the entire thing (Mr. Winning Sales) Is that enough for you?
  15. WOW... (Please add the UNIVERSAL ADJECTIVE to my response before "wow" to complete my true feeling)
  16. Absolutely in AGREEMENT!!! This has the feeling of a 'money grab' all over it. Kinda like that girl that you know you have NO BUSINESS having any interest in you, but you get all giddy when she pushes upon you....It won't end well. But the paycheck may be nice.
  17. I am thinking it's time to back up the BRINK's truck and get Luke Fickell in the fold for the Irish, and I am a LUTHERAN... Go Valpo!
  18. No need for any sort of praise or anything like that. Those that know me, are well aware that I humble as can be, and always looking to move others forward. Absolutely looking forward to next year's challenges.
  19. Phil and Chris are absolutely great guys! As a "Northern" guy....thankful that Andrean kept a "sweep" from happening..... And as a GUY....Love those Mom's supporting their Sons.... 😃 It was a wonderful weekend for IHSAA FB!!! Support for all teams was off the charts
  20. And I will admit this. It is not now, nor ever would be my position to question a coaching decision, a player's decision or otherwise. My concern is to officiate the game to the very best of my ability with 4 other guys. Then hope that nothing we did was a deciding factor in the outcome. Grover, you and I have conversed for years. It's kinda nice to be able to speak with "legacy GID members" in a respectful manner about a game that we all love! Westfield is a heck of a program. Coach Gilbert is a damn machine with his ability to mold them into his image: Tough, hard-nosed and pressing! As for Center Grove....well, I would think that those who anticipating them to lose relevance may be sadly disappointed. Coach Moore seems to "re-load", not re-construct, IMO. As a FW/Northern Indiana guy...I'd like to thank those in the HCC/MIC for allowing us to "make an appearance" in the tournament each year (by rule). 😕
  21. My Umpire played at Louisville (D-Line). I "participated" at UK (Strong Safety)... As the 6A game continued, now this is the ONLY time we've seen either team recently.... But we both felt that he needed a more physical approach to the O-Linemen who were double teaming him. Absolutely, Curry was THE BEST DEFENSIVE lineman that we've seen this year, so this is not a knock on him....just an observation of what the situation entailed. I'll take the hit on this one! Only one perfect guy in the world, and I ain't him.
  22. That COUCH is a wonderful place every Friday night!!!
  23. Needs to learn a "swim technique"... IMO. Just because you get disrupted on the way in....that AIN'T "holding'! My U PLAYED at Louisville. I "participated" at Kentucky.... we kinda have experience with the game of FB. Having said that, there were studs ALL over the field in the 6A game! I truly hope that those of you saw that, and appreciated the efforts.
  24. Its .... Grammar Just sayin.......
