  1. Congratulations.... and thanks for showing up at THIS time.... Kinda has a certain vibe that says a lot....Frontrunning
  2. If I somehow get the video feed @PHJIrish I will reply via PM. You are absolutely correct. We have had perhaps 3 the entire Varsity season.
  3. Agreed. As an official. I appreciate NEW crews moving forward and making the system better for all of us. Oh BTW, there is NO "outside of the tackle box" principle in HS FB. Darned I hate broadcasters!!! Learn the RULES
  4. No need to worry about facts.... Hey who had a problem when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? The rant is better than, factual events....
  5. Let's not forget that these are KIDS playing a game that will stay with them forever. A tempered attitude with the ups and downs of teenagers should be 1st and foremost. I for sure had some situations in my teens that I wish I could have back. And 'effort' is so subjective, it's crazy. Support and congratulate these young men (and perhaps women) for their season long efforts, and the joy that brought to the entire community and student body. That's what HS FB is all about!
  6. Da COACH. Da COACH ...Might want to look at HISTORY!
  7. History DON'T lie..... As for the Swamp Land, Perhaps I could sell a bridge over the East River instead? (apparently you don't get the sarcasm). And as Jay-Z said I am NOT a businessman I am a BUSINESS, man! Big difference
  8. If you honestly believe that the Cadets of today are on par or even on a trajectory that would allow them to compete with the HHS/CHS teams of today; Then I have some swamp land in Arizona to sell you. Part 2: Therein lies the other problem. The inability of the SAC to open themselves up to revising a 'closed conference' system impacts the 5 FWCS schools also. Snider has a program that athletes/coaches/supporters 'want' to be a part of! Other public FWCS schools, it seems not so much. Yes, there are diehards...but no where to the level of support that Snider has garnered through the years. So, a clean slate with a new perspective of what it is that the 'conference' wants is needed. Are they happy with a city-wide closed system? (After the AD votes lately, that answer is YES). OR, is it now in the best interest of those programs that want 'more' to consider their own fate and look beyond? Sadly, I can never see the FWCS schools doing the latter.... And the beat goes on
  9. Now we are getting somewhere. Dwenger/Snider picking up Carroll/Homestead on their "open dates" FILLS their 9 game schedule; Problem Solved! See how easy that is? Now lets, focus on the 'middling schools'. THEY can go out and focus on the NLC/HHC/CIC/NE8 or otherwise and have a more competitive opponent that is more indicative of the competition that they would face year and year out in the tournament. As for HHS and CHS, THEY would be the ones who would have to "strengthen" their overall schedules by seeking out stronger competition outside of the SAC. I am absolutely convinced that schools state-wide would welcome the opportunity to play either the Spartans or Chargers any time/any place. Merrillville/Valpo/Michigan City/Penn/Warsaw (the list goes on and on).. would be much better Northern IN competition to the HHS and CHS programs than SS/NS/Concordia/Wayne..even a loss to a phenomenal 2A program like Bishop Luers. Heck, those programs are better for the programs that I consider 'middling' than playing HHS and CHS also. Step up your game! The SAC as currently constructed is a Dinosaur.
  10. I am happy for Northridge to be where they are.. As I said at the start of the Tournament....Sectional 19 was unbelievable (stacked). It was apparent the the 19 winner could/would/should be on a direct line to LOS..... No matter victor!
  11. Spoke at length with a fellow official tonight about THIS and the fact that Bluffton/Harrison School Corporation has for years approached Southern Wells about consolidation. Neither of these scenarios have gathered no traction. nor will ever happen. As for mega schools in the FW Area, that is well on it's way (I live in SACS district). I also foresee NACS (Carroll) approaching that in time. But unless and until these programs seek a different approach to their FB programs, mostly. The current composition the SAC provides will not allow them to compete with the HCC/MIC and soon enough perhaps the DAC in the IHSAA FB Tournament beyond a Sectional Title. I have said that the composition of the SAC absolutely benefits the Luers/Dwenger/Concordia/Wayne/SS/NS of the conference come tournament time. Were Carroll and Homestead to bolt and go fully independent. I am positive that the 'better" FB programs of the SAC would still entertain a yearly contest with both of them. Then HHS and CHS could cobble together a schedule that was more daunting and preparatory for the IHSAA 6A playoff system. Additionally, the 2 open weeks of the SAC season for most teams could be used to pickup a more representative school for those teams that could prepare THEM for the IHSAA playoffs. The years that Harding and Elmhurst were gone from the SAC schedule, were IMO the most completive and entertaining from a "state wide" perspective that we've seen. I think the middling SAC 4A schools would have no issue contacting perhaps an East Noble, Leo, Columbia City (or other NE8 team) even an NLC or NIC team....and filling those open weeks to give them a more completive balance with their schedules, rather than a BEAT-DOWN via a 6A school that is of no 'value' to either of them. Just my .02
  12. I can GURANTEE you they will be there! And exactly what was bad? @roaringthunderdlr You have every opportunity to get a license and show the WORLD how it should be done!
  13. WHO is "he" ???? If you are referring to Justin Kenny, HE is well aware of the situation in SAC. HE is the reporter for OTL, and well in tune with the arguments/suggestions that are impeding FB in this area.
  14. Add Angola to the 21st Century. Field Turf installation coming over the off season.....
  15. WHAT??? So no longer the BIGGEST "Crown" in NE Indiana? I am gonna miss looking across the field and only seeing my Wings' from the waist up....😄
  16. Very Happy to see Justin Kenny TOTALLY AGREE with every aspect of what I have consistently said about the SAC. Again, the solution to the ability of the "BIG GUYS" to compete on a larger stage will probably come down to Carroll and Homestead (the 'red-headed step-children' in the SAC's money grab for FB and BB)... (CHS and HHS) Leaving, and then cementing independent games with the more competitive teams of the SAC, in conjunction with picking up games in other areas of the State (or otherwise) against tougher competition, is the only way they and the SAC's bigger schools get better also. By doing this, it would require the others "left behind" in the SAC to find outside competition (better). Since it is apparent the the SAC has no intention of moving off their closed-conference stance. The SAC is only to the benefit of the lower classified schools! Period, Point Blank! 6A teams playing 2A through 4A schools for the entire regular season is fool-hearty. Play other 6A and or competitive 5A schools week-in and week-out. That will make you stronger in the long run. The "lower classified" SAC schools should have no issue finding competition above their classification, if they seek to do so on the off weeks. I assume those that represent the teams (certain 2A and a certain 4A school playing up due to success factor) will be ... as usual the ones that are quite content with the SAC as it exists in FB. And the beat goes on......
  17. 2013. Our 1st Semi-State assignment. Only game slated for Saturday play. Gibson Southern brought an entire contingent of fans to Brebeuf Jesuit. The COLDEST game I have ever been a part of. 1st half, had a full capacity crowd with "Carhartt" jackets all over the place..... By the time the 2nd half began, the ENTIRE crowd was in the glass enclosed area of the end zone watching the game and listening to the radio broadcasts. It was surreal with only players, staff and a chain crew left on the field with us as the winds/snow/temperature dictated the outcome of the contest. Had the conditions been a bit better, I am sure that the GS attack would have had more success. Other than the Snider/Luers game this year, this is the ONLY time that I have ever thought that Indiana weather impacted ever phase of the offensive ability of a team to fully show their "arsenal"....
  18. Exactly. I was going to say the SAME thing. This game is in Butler My ex-wife's birthday is Monday. I'll throw her in there as "anything".
  19. Ya know after 2 years of the former "Redskins" being known as just Washington (FB Team) .... I am getting comfortable with them just being referred to as "Washington". It doesn't demine Native Americans, and it doesn't require a moniker (nickname). All in all it's a nice touch to what they should be.
  20. AGREED! Good luck next week to Phil and the da Boys. "Coach Jake" is great one also, down at Westfield. This one could be a classic!
  21. Coulda, shoulda, woulda... But in the end DID! Time for the Wolves to focus on the Semi-State and not look backwards, huh?
