In this time of turmoil.... May I say that it's been a refreshing experience to see and learn from those from ALL around the state about their approach to officiating . I am totally convinced that those who are entrusted with education of the rules/mechanics/etc. of HS football in Indiana have developed an "uniform" approach to the presentation of the information needed to provide to our schools and players

Isn't that a coaching issue? I would always give pause (as an official) to the layers that happen prior to the field of play prior to me. Basically. Sure a parent could/can always have that input for their child.

I guess I didn't realize that. Trust me we are totally oblivious to things. Just go play to play...

I get the "suggestions" that have been provided by the higher ups. But the practical application of them is about as clear as "mud". As said earlier, there are a number of facilities in which you "get up close and personal" with the crew within the facilities provided. Am I to believe that all institutions will provide an alternative facility that works within the guidelines suggested? I don't think so. I would believe that it will be business as usual when it comes to official's facilities provided. Just my 2 cents. (Put this on my debit card...can't get any change these days it seems also)

I wonder if we get locker room facilities and/or showers this year? Are we supposed to show up dressed for the game? What about the 1.5 hour pregame arrival time to inspect the field/meet with coaches...etc? Patiently waiting for guidance for an aspect of game night that has yet to be addressed.

Should be "local" but unless all schedules are within the same district, and governed by an organization other than the IHSAA (any state organization)...it cannot be a "local" decision.

Coach Sauder (Leo) has continued to maintain a formidable presence in 4A even when he had a 'dip' The NE8 is an absolute presence in 4A with Leo, East Noble, New Haven, Columbia City, DeKalb and Norwell! While there are also other fantastic teams throughout the state. These schools are the heart and soul of a 'NE Indiana centric' collective ....the NE8 Week in and Week out, the rivalries they have produced, have led to a great 4A heavy conference.

Only change I'd like is an administrative one. Some sort of 'understanding' that would allow JV/Freshman players participate if it is a blowout....with an extra quarter added to their eligibility. If its "over" at halftime and the leading school wants to put in lower class men, give them a free quarter to use. The clock is running anyway. It also is to the benefit of the trailing school.

Ran into Austin Mack earlier today at the grocery store. Wished him well on the journey with the NY Giants. I am always shocked at the young men who recognize me as they progress towards their goals. As an official, we sometimes are as influential to their growth as others!

Was there for the 17 Championship game. They IMO are the finest that we have ever seen.
