  1. The Merrillville loss to Chesterton is a head-scratcher but IMO if the Pirates have a prayer against Snider they'll win this game handily. This is by-far the most mediocre team Valpo has had in Marshall's tenure.
  2. I'm inclined to agree with this but I also remember the catch-that-wasn't in that Pioneer-North Vermillion game. It's a hard call because if you implement it for the finals inevitably people will start to clamor for it in every game.
  3. Except Andrean actually gave CP somewhat of a game. And this year, just like last year, the Niners are still playing, while the Devils are home.
  4. "Y'all can say excuses" *Literally makes an excuse*
  5. Except you were only saying that cause you were mad that Merrillville lost to them. I don't think CP is overrated as much as Carroll is just very good. Merrillville is much more overrated than the Dogs. I'll give CP a much better shot against Carroll then I'd give the Pirates against Snider.
  6. Not really a super interesting week but I'll share some thoughts: - Jeff barely made it past a middling LC team which makes me think that the Bronchos are still a step below the Duneland's best teams. Even though CP did not look good in the first half last week I'll take the Dogs by 3 TDs. - Merrillville will have a running clock to start the second half. Great season for Hammond Central winning 8 games and beating Morton twice but this is a huge mismatch. - Cheese-Valpo is obviously the matchup everyone is interested in. Chesterton has been on a roll the past few weeks whereas Valpo has flown under the radar pretty much all season. Both teams have physical defenses. Valpo's running game is a bit better but on the opposite side Chesterton's passing game is much better. It was a low-scoring slugfest the first game and I think we'll see another one on Friday. But I think Chesterton gets it done this time and clinches their first sectional in school history.
  7. I agree with basically everything said here. The Duneland is really down this year. I firmly believe Carroll is going to blow out CP in a couple weeks.
  8. After watching CP/Portage last week and seeing what Carroll did to Penn, I'm taking the Chargers by 3 TDs over CP. They are the best team outside of the Donut. I'm interested to see how they stack up against whoever comes out of the other regional. But I've gotten my hopes up before...
  9. I’ll just say that if Bowen keeps having performances like he did last Friday he’ll have a legit shot at the award.
  10. I think LC vs Jeff might be closer than you think. Even though LC has lost 3 straight they have been playing a lot better and were in all of those games. Other than that I agree with everything else.
  11. Should probably know the teams you’re talking about before posting.
  12. Just some thoughts on what I think are the more interesting games this week: - I'm taking Carroll by 14 over Penn. A good season for the Kingsmen and a step in the right direction in terms of reestablishing themselves, but I've maintained since midway through the season that I think Carroll is the best team outside of the Donut this year and that hasn't changed. I think they prove it in this game. - I think Norwell vs Concordia might be more interesting than expected. Wayne just took Columbia City to the limits last week and I can't get that out of my head. Was it an off night for CC or is the SAC just that much better than the NE8? If Norwell doesn't run away with this one we'll have our answer. - I think Luers is massively underrated at this point. Just a general statement really. I think they'll be playing in the semistate.
  13. Indiana has had two largest classes in that time span, that’s why I put it in plural. I was not referring to 5A since it’s been the second-highest class. But the north only winning one of those titles in 10 years further reinforces my point. Close is cool but this ain’t horseshoes or hand grenades.
  14. https://www.indystar.com/story/sports/high-school/2022/10/20/indiana-high-school-football-ips-shortridge-face-uphill-challenge-sectionals-ihsaa-jovan-mccray/65412473007/ Timely article in the IndyStar today by Kyle Neddenriep
  15. Agree 100% with everything except the last part. CP would run through the Mid State this year.
  16. In a world where you have said many ridiculous things, THIS might be the most ridiculous thing you've ever said.
  17. The last time a team from outside the Donut won the title in the highest class was Penn in 2000. While the North has produced good teams in that time span, let's not kid ourselves here.
  18. The 'Indy bias' is justified seeing the dominance Indy has had over the largest classes for the past 20 years. Teams from outside the donut will need to win multiple state titles in order to shake that off, one won't be enough (nor should it be considering said Indy dominance). I do think this CP team is pretty good, as do I think Carroll is good. Are either good enough to beat whatever Indy team they play in the semistate? I'm not sure. I think some of us thought Merrillville was good enough last year and we saw how that turned out. I will say in regards to CP that I think they're better equipped to deal with a team from down there than Merrillville has been the past 3 years mainly do to their line play, discipline, and the expertise of their coaching staff. Good thing the tournament is starting soon and all of this speculation and posturing will be put to rest.
