  1. Lol yeah I don't think you've ever even stepped foot in a private school. "Effective Enrollment" is cute though. Think it depends on a lot of factors; the area, % of kids on vouchers, etc. For the time I was at Andrean 20% seems reasonable, maybe a little more.
  2. I always gotta laugh seeing comments like this. As if there aren't kids at private schools who are there solely because their parents are making them.
  3. I just wanted to give a big congrats to the Cougars of West Side High School for defeating Hammond Morton for the first time in their program's history last Saturday. Just 3 years ago, in 2019, they lost to the Governors 76-0. Last year they lost a close one 20-14. They finally broke through this year for a 38-6 victory. Morton has dominated West Side historically, many times with kids who lived within Gary's borders. A huge victory for West Side in their last year in the Great Lakes Athletic Conference as they transition to the Greater South Shore Conference. If they can take down Hammond Central they'll win what I believe would be their first (and last) conference title in the GLAC. S/o to Eric Schreiber Jr for starting the turnaround and to Alger Boswell for keeping it going.
  4. - Merrillville by a lot. - Chesterton in a low-scoring snoozer. Why is Portage so bad? - City gets back on track against the most-disappointing program in the Region. We'll see if they can string together some wins here the next couple weeks. - Dogs overpower the Vikings in likely the only good matchup of the week. I'll give Valpo a better shot if their RB1 plays this week (went out with injury last game).
  5. Let's see if Lutheran beats Scecina this Friday first.
  6. Man, that's really tough for the kids. I remember my sophomore year our game with West Side had to be moved to Saturday because West Side's AD didn't get refs for the game (not kidding). Luckily we were able to use the refs for what was supposed to be the JV game that next day.
  7. Man, I know Pike has looked better than their record indicates, but if the Red Devils beat the Warriors then Warren and Kirschner are in some trouble. I also think LC will keep it a little closer than that with CG. I think we'll see these next few weeks whether the Bears are a serious threat to Cathedral in Sectional 6.
  8. Sagarin #2 vs Sagarin #243... Is this the biggest discrepancy in rankings for a non-conference game ever?
  9. CP-Valpo will be interesting but I don't see Valpo winning. This year CP does everything Valpo does but better.
  10. Could you create ratings for every team in the country based on the same criteria (obviously this is not feasible for one man)? Then you could have the most-accurate analysis in terms of common opponents, as well as a common formula for every team. Not sure if this would be a potential solution but it's the only thing I can think of off the top of my head.
  11. Andrean, Luers, and Mater Dei will all be bolstered by the schedules they play. I cannot emphasize enough how much playing larger schools pays dividends for these programs come playoff time.
  12. I just think it's hard to give any predictions when it's still so wide open. I will say that Scecina has been the most-impressive team to me so far but LaVille and Linton have looked good too. IMO 2A North has been a tad deeper the past two years but this year it's looking like 2A South might be a little better overall. Either way I think this is one of the most-balanced classes at the top and whatever team is left standing at the end will have earned it. I think we'll have a little bit better picture of the contending teams in a couple weeks.
  13. Michigan City 14 - Valpo 0 1Q City runs back the opening kickoff and then gets a pick 6 on Valpo’s first drive
  14. This is highly debatable. Maybe at the smaller levels but 5A/6A is another story. See: Noblesville.
