  1. New Zealand was praised for their swift legislative action on guns following a mass shooting, and Australia has been held up as a success in firearm restrictions, but how successful have they really been? https://reason.com/2019/07/08/noncompliance-kneecaps-new-zealands-gun-control-scheme/ https://www.ammoland.com/2019/07/new-zealand-encounters-problems-enforcing-gun-ban-without-registration/
  2. How do you know they're not being held accountable? The officials you see on TV are calling/not calling what they're told to call/not call. If they don't, they won't be there long. I believe it was last year two officials were fired by the NFL during the season which is not unprecedented, but it is highly unusual. The Big Ten fired an entire crew in the last couple of years. In my opinion, officials should not be part of the story, it's about the two teams playing the game, but I know that's not always the case. So let me ask you this, suppose this SOB who made this bogus call against "your" team and "cost them the game" gets grilled by the media and is held accountable, how does that make you feel better about the loss? How does that change anything? Or is it you just get to feel better because the media will get their pound of flesh?
  3. -Eleven released a statement: “We take the cleanliness of 7-Eleven stores very seriously so thank you for making us aware of this incident and allowing us to investigate this matter.” State health inspectors are investigating. OK - SF is really ok with freedom of religion and would normally empathize and maybe even assist with a person's desire to worship or otherwise recognize their deity or observe a custom........But I would HAVE to draw the line here.......Thank god I don't eat 7-11 food......I have had their coffee however....... There's a 7-11 I frequent in Cocoa Beach right across the street from Sam Sheppard Park, the only thing I've ever purchased there are refrigerated cans and ice.....I'll make a note of it though.
  4. I didn't see what happened and don't care to comment on it. As @JustRules said, a replaced player has 3 seconds to begin to leave the field. The foul is illegal substitution. The situation you describe I've seen happen many times, if the replaced player begins to leave in a timely manner (no I don't do a count, I'm not going to split hairs was it 2.8 seconds or was it 3.4), we let it go.
  5. When I was coaching, I kept pretty detailed notes on officials I had, mainly for voting purposes. If I ran across an official I didn't think was very good, I just didn't hire them at home. Of course you have no control over who you get on the road or in the tournament. I'm not sure there's much else you can do. I have told a couple of lower level coaches over the years to tell their AD to NEVER hire me again.
  6. The Patriots. Warren Central uses a helicopter.
  7. https://www.baslerweb.com/en/markets/further-applications/sports-and-motion/ The NFL thinks otherwise, at least with regards to pylon cams. https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2015/09/02/pylon-cameras-are-mainly-worthless/
  8. This is going to be quite the quandary for the yuppie Starbucks crowd. Apparently the pumpkin spice latte has a history of racism and genocide. https://www.thespec.com/news-story/9568117-pumpkin-spice-wars-the-violent-history-behind-your-favourite-starbucks-latte/ On the bright side of things, after your morning dose of guilt, it doesn't appear there's actually any nutmeg in the Starbucks pumpkin spice latte. Ingredients Milk, Pumpkin Spice Sauce [Sugar, Condensed Skim Milk, Pumpkin Puree, Contains 2% Or Less Of Fruit And Vegetable Juice For Color, Natural Flavors, Annatto, Salt, Potassium Sorbate], Brewed Espresso.
  9. I’m sorry but I just giggle ever time I see a company named Acme.
  10. Jarts were not banned by law, the sale was banned by the Consumer Product Safety Agency. From what I can see there have been three deaths from Jarts. Originally the ban, merely banned them as being labeled as children's toys. In 1988 they were not allowed to be sold. Manufacturers have skirted the law since, but selling components separately. I did find one incident in Elkhart, IN in 1997 where a 7 year old had his skull pierced by a Lawn Dart. No word on whether he survived or not. This ban, merely bans the retail sale of Lawn Darts. If I have Jarts in my possession, men with guns are not going to come to my house and steal my legally purchased possession.
  11. Sometimes we get the EZ view from the schools. While I love the EZ view, it's really that advantageous for us. We did get EZ views this week, in the process of going thru them now.
  12. I have no idea, they were on the other side of the rope: 1. I don't venture to the other side of the rope. 2. While I have great vision, it ain't good enough to read labels on tiny cameras 20' in the air on the other side of the rope.
  13. Linton and Sullivan both had EZ cams Friday night.
  14. I get this dude is just doing and saying anything possible to try and stay relevant, but after watching this video in profile, this is Bernie Sanders 40 years ago. Prove me wrong. https://twitter.com/BetoORourke/status/1167954084122353664
