  1. South Putnam looked big, fat and slow. Not impressed at all. A team with D-linemen that didn't crack 185 pounds made them look bad. At least they got their unbeaten season t-shirts!
  2. If you truly think that not playing is an advantage, you don't know what you're talking about. You can have injuries in practice, so resting doesn't make a bit of a difference. Give any coach or player the option of playing a game or resting and taking a week off, and I'd bet no one would want to give up a game.
  3. We were at Pioneer that night for the regional. All I can say is I was glad I packed for the cold and rain, because most people didn't. I do remember the Panther stands were nearly empty in the middle of the second half as we ended up winning 40-6.
  4. Thanks for the info. At first I wondered if they might play at Logansport, but then I saw Logan is home Friday night as well.
  5. 4A south is definitely loaded. I agree on Roncalli, but I like the job Kirschner's done at Mt. Vernon. That game might be the best around this Friday. So happy our fact checkers are hard at work. Forgive me for my mistake.
  6. I'd say Chatard is a sure bet to pick up another regional title. Roncalli has a tough test at Mt. Vernon. The winner of this game is probably a slight favorite to represent the north in the finals, although Mooresville and/or Evansville Memorial will be a test in the semistate. Heritage Christian gets two-time defending 2A champ Western Boone. The Stars are playing their best football right now and will be a strong test for HC. Covenant Christian gets undefeated South Putnam, who had trouble with the pass D against Parke Heritage. After knocking off 1A favorite Lutheran, will CC have a hangover from that big win? I'd say that 2 of the 4 CCC teams make it to semistate.
  7. Are they limiting fans at the game? Not a lot of seating on the visitor side and not sure if they're letting anyone stand in the end zone. This would be a good one to drop in on if it is allowed.
  8. Or George and Ringo?
  9. C'mon, it's Tipton. You never know what you might see.
  10. Are they having to declare these forfeits in order to establish home teams as we move through the tourney? Do they still make Zima? Or is this so-called hard seltzer the new Zima? Personally, I miss the old guys from Bartles and James wine coolers. Now those got the ladies excited!
  11. When you look at the number of counties that have now been coded orange, what effect is this having on attendance for the games? There was even a story on Channel 13 last night about Fountain County and the big jump in numbers of cases. Warren County is now at 10% or higher positivity. I'm just hoping they get the tourney completed at this time.
  12. My dad played at Seeger in the early 60s. When we played there in 2004, ran into a guy that worked the chains when he played. Still like to see the Patriots do well, but I won't go against a WeBo team with a Weakley on the roster.
  13. For my former favorite team, a 1-point win is handily. I have a hard time digesting what they're doing there now. It ain't what it used to be. WeBo is a well coached and prepared football team. With 2A south not looking really dominant, they could make a run to semistate if they play well. I also feel that if they don't play very well or make some mistakes that Seeger could knock them off. There are ghosts out there in those fields around West Lebanon. Just be careful regarding any receivers running along the back line of the end zone!
  14. Go soak your head. Your insights are so enlightening. If they can outscore the other team, they will win. If they can't, they'll lose. Holy crap Batman! Is that what it's all about? Did you learn football from Football for Dummies? Why not analyze SP offense vs. PH defense and vice versa? What are the matchups to watch for? Nah, I'll just contribute that the team who scores more points will win.
  15. Hardest hits I ever took were in practice. Games were like PE class.
  16. Everyone is so touchy these days. It must be this election thing or Covid or just some thin-skinned folks who just can't take things with a grain of salt. In the immortal words of Sgt. Hulka - "lighten up Francis". Back in the day, we didn't think a couple personal fouls were a bad thing. Kinda put the other team on their heels and looking over their shoulders. One late hit on a QB might make him get rid of the ball a little quicker the next time he throws. WeBo's 7 wins were against teams with a combined 22-46 record. Seeger's opponents were 23-47. I feel this should be a competitive game and either team has a shot. Seeger does have the advantage of playing in beautiful West Lebanon. Funny thing, isn't Western Boone considered west Lebanon? Hmmm.......
  17. I know WeBo is young, but they were beaten pretty handily by Sheridan, who Seeger knocked off late in the year. I don't think the Stars are the same team they were the past two years. I know they have improved as the season has gone on, and I know they play a much more challenging schedule, but I do think the Patriots have a shot to win.
  18. Would you be trading places with the Pioneer Panthers?
  19. Westfield is in the 6A North bracket. They will be a tough out as they move through the tourney.
  20. With Andrean, Pioneer, Eastside, Luers (forget their record) & Fairfield, plus the teams in their own sectional, I'd say there are a lot of minefields to cross to get to state from the 2A North semistate. I'd take them one at a time for now.
  21. If that is you, you may need to change your name to "poster formerly known as Purdue Pete"! 😀
  22. That marriage didn't last that long. The green tie is much more suited to him.
  23. I did notice it was on Saturday at 7, but thank you for checking on me. All those times of 'getting my bell rung' are catching up to me and the memory comes and goes. 🙃
  24. The legend returns. I wonder if he wore a red tie during his one year at Taylor.
  25. Let's hope they're not playing after spring break! LCC visits the land of the cowboy collar and the split back veer. Oh when the cultures collide! I may have to make the drive up 29 to see this one.
