  1. Could you pinpoint "old culture" ?
  2. Ok, so answer me this, a few years back we were at a MS game at South Central. We had a kid that could run like the wind but was dumb as a bag on hammers. We ran him out of the backfield and he scored two TDs in a row, one a toss sweep and the second a direct snap out of the Wildcat, wearing jersey # 90. The ref came over and told the coaching staff the player was wearing an illegal jersey number. We were told the player had to swap jerseys because 90 was a kickers number. We kind of looked at each other and made the swap. I was always curious about that call...
  3. Or some one else....
  4. New blood, thick skin... I for one love the verbal joust, which some people shy away from. RSN has seen the same traffic since their board crashed.
  5. Why can't we all just get along ?
  6. Depends on the construction. At my old HS the pressbox was a plywood and frame box to top of four 30ft utility poles. You climbed a long ladder to the top.... all the gear was hauled up by rope. The wind finally killed it about 1972.
  7. It was a 155 mm Howitzer !
  8. Hobart uses a small cannon in the south end zone.... 10 Ga blanks.
  9. Isn't it cool when all the tailgaters blow there horns and blink the headlights after every score. What a pain in the a$$ ! (no reflection on any particular school)
  10. Thats it! Only on the dark of the moon.
  11. Programs get your programs, you don't know the players without a program.
  12. There was a certain coach that fished Brickie Bowl just after the flood and caught a few !
  13. There was a game played on that field two weeks after the flood of 2008.
  14. I'll see your six pack and raise you a case... we will not see the Brickie Bowl as it stands bulldozed in our lifetime. (I know you are about my age)
  15. The groundwork for the WPA construction was cool as the stream that flows under the visitors bleachers was rerouted. in the beginning the stream traveled from the Northwest corner of the picture to the Southeast. Through backfilling and many loads of stone the stream was redirected due East for about 150 + yards, then took a course of almost due North to connect to Deep River. In the beginning Brickie Bowl was little more that a ravine !
  16. Well said Bob, this is a trend that started many years ago. With the advent of broadcast and other distractions the crowds of yesteryear are rare in most venues. I can remember back in the 90's the old Brickie Bowl would be SRO four deep at the fence by 6 p.m. Griffith was the same way back in the day, people would come to see the show that kind of suffered the same fate as other programs. Success brings a following and even back in the 90's many less that successful programs did not bring a crowd. Nice commentary from your viewpoint.
  17. Interesting.... personal observation ?
  18. Why can't we all just get along?
