  1. Michigan State won't stay there.....I have my doubts about Oregon as well. PAC 12 not very tough though, so they might.... What does the committee do if Georgia beats Bama in the SEC championship and Bama has 2 losses?
  2. Some sources..... https://bleacherreport.com/articles/117345-recruiting-for-beginners-part-i-how-are-players-ranked https://athleticdirectoru.com/articles/do-football-recruiting-ratings-matter/ https://www.cougcenter.com/wsu-football-recruiting/2013/2/5/3956800/rivals-scout-espn-247-star-rating-system-national-signing-day
  3. player...must be the word of the day.....earned it along with the Cap'n. I am in good company.
  4. you know what they say...takes one to know one...... Look at that 2020 schedule...compare it to the 2021 schedule....I don't believe its that open and shut when it comes to 20 vs 21. And I've seen them both play....as well as a lot of Cathedral games over the past 8 years or so. 2021 is really good....I just struggle putting them above some others. Don't mean to anger some Dads.
  5. I agree with that. I thought the 2020 schedule was a gauntlet. The Cathedral record last year was super impressive. Given a senior super experienced QB, I just assumed the 2020 team was better based on what they did with that schedule. (not arguing...just my thought) Not only was the 2020 schedule a monster, but almost all the victories was by a comfortable margin.
  6. You really think the 2021 Cathedral schedule is more difficult than 2020?? 2020 seems like a monster of a schedule.
  7. Just catching up.....Did you really just go Pee Wee Herman on Temptation?
  8. Because Doyel is such a football expert....... Doyel still has his bias alive and well against Wentz because of his choice not to take the Covid vaccine. Doyel has been outspoken and ruthless on Twitter and in the Star regarding Wentz and his decision. Doyel allows his personal politics to bias his positions as a sportswriter, which is a shame.
  9. I don't think most have an issue with roster limits....I think many don't understand why its the same for 1A through 6A schools. Thanks for the info and history....
  10. Agree.... I saw a stat...Wentz had 51 pass attempts to Taylor's 16 rush attempts.....seriously?? I thought Reich was supposed to put Wentz in a position where he didn't need to put the game on his shoulders?? I am glad to see Reich take the blame for the interception from the end zone. Calling a screen from your own end zone? Let the line pour through while the QB is in the endzone? What could go wrong?? Oops. Wentz had no choice..had he been sacked, Titans would have received 2 points and the ball back. Any reason why Reich has to call the game? Why isn't that handed to the OC so Reich can focus on all phases of the game...keeping his head clear?
  11. I heard the same..... Have you seen the Michigan & MSU football Pure Michigan ads? Clearly done by MSU grads.....
  12. The LC vs LN game will be a war. I think perhaps the potential for the best game in the state this Friday. LC…they are balling…especially on D. After giving up 48 to Warren Central earlier this year, held WC Friday night to 8 pts. Correct me if I am mistaken, but I think WC’s lone score was a pick 6. If accurate, LC completely shut down the Warrior offense. What a turn around from earlier this season!! Well done Bears!! Big game in Lawrence Friday night!!!
  13. Scratching my head about Oklahoma....an avg. defense at best. Will get fun for them after their upcoming bye week. Baylor at Waco, Iowa State at home, and then OK State in Stillwater. Saw what OK State did to Kansas yesterday....that is what the Sooners should have done. I don't think OU runs the table.....
  14. that is what made yesterday so tough. McCulley had a nice start and one can see potential. Hendershot was fantastic, and team rushed for over 200 yds. (realize 66yds was a single play) Put 35 points on the board....and still lost. Defense, so highly spoken of this season, was bad...really bad. Very little pass rush and the DB's were toast. Tago threw for 419 yds...seriously? Allen's claim to fame is defense..... Each week, seems like the same old, same old. A side of the ball decides to take a crap...and there is always, and I mean always an excuse. Its Power 5 football....fix it or get blasted. No one cares about excuses.
  15. Great call MICFan34!
  16. thanks Irish. I would hope the ISHAA would look at that. There is a reason for classes based on enrollment.....My guess is that the state has many schools that don't reach 75 roster max and many schools that have to make tough decisions to reduce their rosters. I am not advocating for 6 roster sizes...but I bet they could come up with 2 or 3 limits that make a little more sense.
  17. Is the roster limit the same for 1A through 6A? If so, that doesn't feel right......
  18. Then eliminate the rule...its there for a reason and that's player safety. The impact isn't just to the Saturday game...exceeding quarters also allows more contribution to the friday night game and increases depth....depth that may absolutely provide benefit. Additionally, the other team following the rule keeps kids out of the game. It does create advantage. If you don't plan on adhering to IHSAA rules, at least reach out to the opposing coach, so they can decide how to play the game. Their kids may want to play and gain experience as well.
  19. I'm sorry...but you are leaving me with questions? Are you really a coach with Cathedral? And if so, why would you be so brazen to document non-compliance with an IHSAA rule on a public forum, insulting the other team along the way? The rule, whether you agree or not, is for player safety. Additionally, the impact of playing excessive quarters isn't just a Saturday impact...that impact is also to the friday night varsity game of utilizing additional depth that you may have planned for Saturday only. I get it...if you are who I think you may be...the rivalry with CG goes back a ways....but getting past your personal feelings for CG, can you explain yourself? Perhaps I am missing something.
  20. "I understand the rules and they makes complete sense"...."silly quarter rule is a joke" Which one is it? Pick one Coach. As a coach, aren't you supposed to set the example? Can't you and your staff push for rule changes, assuming they make sense, and until the rule is changed follow it in lieu of justifying non-compliance? CG butt hurt about a JV loss? I highly doubt that. Have expectations for a coaching staff's behaviors? That is a different question. #Integrityisgood
  21. The point FB16 is making and he's right (rolling my eyes saying that) is that Coach Moore's recipe is run first...he throws more with Jackson because of his talent. But CG has had tremendous success over the years to include state titles, state runner-ups, semi-state appearances, etc. throwing far less than this year....far less. Coach Moore is a Wing T guy and he turned CG into a power with that offense. That is why every CG bantam team runs the offense starting in 2nd grade. By the time they get to high school, the offense fits like a glove.
  22. Looks like a beautiful place.....I see the pic of their baseball stadium often on social media..........included a football stadium pic as well. Impressive views.....
  23. Don't disagree about QB play...but IU (as big as they are on the O line) was manhandled on the LOS on both sides of the ball. Manhandled. The hit that knocked out Tuttle....wow. Drove his head into the helmet of his one of his OLineman being pushed back there with the QB. While I will not defend IU QB play, they have lots of issues on that OL.
  24. Agree...Coach Nickerson laid the Walnut Heights loss on the shoulders of "the Vooch".....destroyed the young man. Never should have handed off the ball pouring rain on the Walnut Heights goalline after the defense held....QB sneak it and its over baby!!
  25. That was then, and this is now, right? Last year is old news. Just saying they seem to have an easier path than Westfield. I do know Elkhart played Merrillville tough in the regional last year...so who knows? Never said an easier path guarantees a semi-state victory......but it does seem the Pirates have an easier journey than the Shamrocks.
