Will LN have most everyone back from Covid protocol and able to play?

Scary? Definitely funny!! Try the link below!! Adam Musielak (@Coach_AdamMoose) Tweeted: Gotta LOVE this ESPN edit for college football of Purdue Pete hitting the drum and then hitting himself in the head. Tough week for Purdue Pete, recently voted college’s creepiest mascot! @ChronicHoosier @TheMopLady #iufb https://t.co/9ExPRYlk1g

Great game at Carmel last night
Bash Riprock replied to whiteshoes's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Hounds knocking off 2 great programs to start the season. Did I understand the QB throwing the winning TD was a backup playing JV last Saturday?? That's a great story. Congrats to the Carmel program. Hosting CG in the Copper Kettle game this friday. Gotta give the Hounds credit for that opening schedule...LVille Trinity, Detroit ML King and Center Grove all in the first 3 weeks. Wow!! -
New Pal headed back to 4A?
Bash Riprock replied to fenderbender's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
No..I am not really catching on. My comment was tongue and cheek. Nothing has changed from my past comments...it may very well be a variable in the equation for success. You and I disagree about the size of that variable. I am not sure why we overreact at the beginning of the year. First, most teams don't play their best football at the beginning of the year. Secondly, talent is absolutely cyclical, and sometimes the young ones need to develop. New Pal can absolutely more than compete in 5A....their history has shown it. Just a few years ago, they knocked off 6A CG twice in back to back seasons. The second time NP beat the Trojans, the CG team was being criticized for being down.....the young Trojans developed, played their best football at the end of the season, and went all the way to the 6A final and dang well could have won it. So why we try and draw conclusions based upon such a small volume of work early in the season leaves me scratching my head. -

Biggest Week One Upset
Bash Riprock replied to WestfieldRocks's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
That's fact....plus promotion and relegation is built on a long, long season of work....not just from the results of a single game. A long season playing all teams in their league multiple times...not teams from lower level leagues. -
Cathedral vs Westfield on Friday!
Bash Riprock replied to Dave007's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Gotta give you an A for perseverance.... I would have absolutely taken that bet on 4th and 1 when you coach elected not to punt. No way was Cathedral going to put the ball in the air and CG was sending everyone and the kitchen sink. With the level of D talent...absolutely would have taken that bet. Now if your coach had punted......that's a different question about odds... Once the stop was made, momentum completely changed. Cathedral's heads went down and CG was a ball of fire. It was like a hot knife going through butter. Not only scored, but left time for Cathedral to get the ball back. Look, we are hijacking the thread and I don't want to be that guy. Plus I notice how you argue and it turns into a vicious loop. No interest in going there. Let's just agree to disagree on your probability odds, and how everything else in the game was inconsequential to the outcome. -
Cathedral vs Westfield on Friday!
Bash Riprock replied to Dave007's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Thank you for your response. We will simply agree to disagree about the depth of an entire game being irrelevant to its final outcome. I am also not sure I agree on that 4th and 1 that CG only had a 10% chance to win the play. That sounds like pretty subjective probability to me. (but I am no statistician....just enough during college years to be dangerous) If I follow your logic that its really about one play, bottom line one team got it done and the other didn't....that is as simple as it gets. Good luck to the Irish tonight and this season...they continue to have an outstanding team. -

Interesting view. I might contend you are oversimplifying the game and basing it down to one play. As Grover pointed out, had there not been a 70 yd interception return earlier, your comments about the game end don't even come into play. There were several factors in that game that led to the final outcome...not just the last series of plays and decisions. Cathedral had difficulty moving the ball during the game. They had one offensive TD, that occurred from a missed tackle on the sideline. Cathedral had a total of 183 yds....60 of it rushing. https://www.maxpreps.com/games/10-16-2020/football-fall-20/cathedral-vs-center-grove.htm?c=bYaraJJVeU25NW4LqacUTQ#tab=box-score&schoolid= At the end of the day, it was a great game. Kids were not injured (a great thing given its a year end non-conference regular season game, with nothing at stake other than bragging rights) with both teams winning their class state championships. It was in 2020...as someone else said...its history. Question...why the tone above? Isn't it ok on a discussion forum for people to have different takes? -
Wow...a heavy week of MIC teams on the road, with exception of WC. My picks.... CG BD LT - would love to see the Hounds pick up the win out of state for Indiana football HSE LN (they go on the road and pick up the upset win) NC (they do the same at Fishers and start moving upward) Z'Ville (although I think Pike makes this a game) Its finally here fellas!!!

Cathedral vs Westfield on Friday!
Bash Riprock replied to Dave007's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
If Popeye and the Dline can get pressure on an inexperienced QB, it could make for an interesting game. But that is dependent upon keeping the Irish ground game in check. 2 very good teams!! -
Then why stop at the bottom 8? There isn't much of a disparity in enrollment from the bottom 8 up to the 12th largest school in the state. If its really about enrollment disparity, then don't draw an arbitrary line at the bottom 8. Unless the real motive is to keep certain schools out of 6A, while ensuring others remain in 6A, just to increase trophy chances for certain schools. Doing that would dramatically affect both 5A and 6A. https://www.ihsaa.org/Schools/Enrollments-Classifications FB16 is spot on....this really isn't about enrollment disparity. Its more about certain key schools that have been successful in 6A...its about keeping Carmel in the south so the MIC and HCC eliminate each other. Only 4 of the top 11 schools have played for 6A state titles in recent years, along with another school coming in at #17. I understand not everyone wants to get in the ring with a bigger boy. So lets take the bottom 8 in 6A, move them down....and ensure they are one of the biggest boys. Let the other schools not much larger than the bottom 8 fend for themselves in the big boy ring. Just as long as my team has a better chance of sectional hardware....that's all that matters.
-
Maybe it does in some eyes.....perhaps reclassifying 6A to only 24 teams helps ensure their teams don't make it up to 6A....... If there was truly a concern about enrollment differential causing unfair competition (and you've demonstrated repeatedly that is not the case with the top 8 schools), then there wouldn't be a proposal that would still expose a number schools to the enrollment gap in 6A. One would simply break off the top 8 and play them in a tournament if enrollment was truly the concern.
-
Negative Ghostrider....they had to win all season to get there....not just about 2 or 3 wins. Kind of interesting....for people pushing for a supposed increase of a trophy chance for some teams by pushing them to a lower division, this proposal had no problem taking sectional titles away from the top class

James just tweeted he's committed to Purdue.

Is it possible that HC might have heard of this KKK connection? At the end of the day, as I said earlier, it is their perogative to change their nickname. But a lighthouse logo in a landlocked town? I think its kind of funny.

I am not saying isn't a variable in the equation...we just differ in opinion as to the magnitude of the variable. I can point to schools across this country that are in lower income areas that have dominate football programs. Study Florida for example. I can also identify many higher income schools across this country that have lackluster football programs. We can point to several in our own state. Now to my question....of the bottom 8 sized schools in 6A that are being proposed to being moved down to 5A, how many of those schools and which ones would you consider lower income? I am just trying to determine if we calibrate on the definition. And if they (or most) are not considered lower income, then it must be a numbers game of enrollment....and as I pointed out, the number difference is not that significant from schools in the middle of the pack in 6A and outside of the top 8.
