  1. I am just thinking about the regions of voters. Pavia will most likely take the south (SEC) but hopefully Mendoza represents well. Hopefully, Mendoza takes the east and the west...latter with the Cal connection helping. Just not sure about the midwest with 3 midwest finalists.
  2. I like your thinking. Hope you are correct.
  3. So you just want to be a troll?
  4. It’s official. Could the 3 midwest guys cancel out each other??
  5. I think the Virginia game may have been even deeper....speculation but UVA has never been overly kind to some of the other schools in the state of VA. Remember where Cignetti came from....and the deal with UVA was put in place prior to his tenure. I think it was more than just trying to soften the schedule.
  6. ate you kidding me? Now Leonard hurt?? https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/47249059/riley-leonard-knee-injury-adding-colts-qb-crisis
  7. that's not really what I am trying to say...I'm not hitting the mark. Its not the individual issue...I am just saying overall its easy to claim player safety top issue for the NFL. I am just saying there are plenty of examples (this being one) where the behavior doesn't match their words. Sure as Bob says, game is overall safer today. But there are several examples of where they turn their head, especially if $$ is king. (Especially with more games, added mid week game, travel to Europe, etc) Specific to crown of helmet, my guess is that this type of hit has decreased in the college game when when they started this journey. Why? I agree...its not the 15 yd penalty...its the ejection. I am not a huge fan of that either, because in most cases, there is no intent of malice by the striking player. What made it worse in the Pats/Giants game is that the team initiating a dangerous crown of helmet blow was also awarded with a fumble recovery. There is almost an incentive to play in a wreckless fashion, and as I mentioned, the striker subjected himself to a neck injury risk. But hey, safety first!!!
  8. Painful news to football fans about Temple deciding not to play..........😉
  9. yes, but they only lost 1 regular season game to TTU. They lost a 2nd time to TTU in the conference championship, which again was an extra game. They were held accountable for the 2nd loss, and Bama also pounded in their conference championship for a 3rd loss was not held accountable. I am not a proponent of BYU...but I do believe the committee should be consistent about the impact of the conference championship game. Does it matter or not? Is it a plus to make it to the conference championship or is it considered a fail if a team makes it and loses?
  10. Fair enough...I am talking the most recent conversations between ND and the Big 10....as I assumed that was relevant to the issues of today. Bottom line, Big 10 will not agree that one school can have its own TV network, and revenue sharing is key. Huge hurdles last time the parties discussed ND joining.
  11. I find this incredibly frustrating ND gets this benefit. Why would other schools not be offered the same? (assuming they are not)
  12. Not really accurate either...go read about this. ND was not ready to give us their NBC contract. That was never going to fly with the Big 10. Their hockey team actually is a member of the Big 10. (or is allowed to compete as a member)
  13. OK...that is completely untrue. Compare records and rankings. Ticks me off man...you forced me to defend Temp's team....goshdangit!!
  14. It has something to do with Miami...because they took one of the final spots that ND was fighting for. But I understand your Bama comment. I think the committee chose to overlook the loss to the 5-7 team, and focused more on the quality of their wins over ranked opponents, while having a much strong strength of schedule as compared to the Irish. Whether we agree to not, they chose not to count the conference championship game against Bama. I understand on one point as they played an additional game that ND did not play. Perhaps why they need to join a conference. Where I personally struggle, Bama did not get held accountable for their conference championship game, while it would seem BYU was held accountable.
  15. https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/47192479/colts-anthony-richardson-sr-ir-not-cleared-return Richardson sustained the injury while warming up with an elastic stretch band in the locker room before the team's Oct. 12 home game against the Arizona Cardinals. The bar to which the band was strapped broke, hitting Richardson in the face and causing his injuries. Anthony Richardson Sr., their 2023 fourth overall draft pick, remains on injured reserve and still is not cleared for football-related activities after sustaining an orbital fracture in his face in a freak pregame incident in October, coach Shane Steichen said Wednesday. But Richardson is closer to gaining clearance from his doctors, and the Colts have not closed the door on him returning to the lineup before the end of the season, Steichen said. Richardson's vision was temporarily impaired by the injury because of swelling and the resulting surgery that was required, leaving him with some blurriness in one eye that is now clearing, a source told ESPN. There was initially serious concern about Richardson's eye in the immediate aftermath of the injury, multiple sources have said, with Richardson rushed to the hospital by paramedics. But he ultimately avoided damage to the eye and has come a long way since those initial days. "Any time you're dealing with an eye, you want to make sure he's got full vision in that eye," Steichen said. "He's resting it right now, and once he's cleared to go, I'll let you guys know."
  16. OK...let's assume high school and college has it wrong....then lets change it for them. So much about CTE injuries to NFL players....either they try to discourage leading with the crown of the helmet, or they don't. But don't go on and on about player safety ignoring what happened in the Pats/Giants game. The tackler also subjected himself to a spinal cord injury risk. I am all for physical play as well....but as a former youth football coach, never did we teach tackling leading with the crown of the helmet. Head up and we all know that. But hey, lets ignore that, add more games, add a Thursday night game and claim player safety is value #1. The NFL needs to walk their talk.
  17. If the committee didn't take head to head matchup into consideration, perhaps as a key tiebreaker, what is the point of playing each other? Bottom line, had ND pretty much not trailed the entire game against Miami and lost at the end, they would be in. I really like ND and wish they were in the playoffs...but with the way the schedule worked out this year with SOS, they had little margin for error. And they lost the matchup against the team they were in contention with for the playoffs. They did control their destiny. Moving to a conference (and I strong one) will help them for the future.
  18. If the handful of players that truly have NFL potential in the upcoming draft wish to sit out, so be it. But a reminder that the vast majority of the roster is not seniors and/or seniors that most likely are not moving on to the NFL. Let them have their last moment in a bowl game and use the practice time to develop key people for next year's team. Glad to see many other bowls filling up with teams and good matchups. Just saw the Big 10 bowls and I am eager to see some of these games, especially against other SEC teams.
  19. the point I made above Coach....I forgot about the ACC connection as well, but its the SEC that truly gets the love. Herbstreit is the worse in his comments, including social media for the SEC. He knows where his bread is buttered.
  20. One can easily argue that the committee should have never let ND pass Miami in the first place and they fixed a wrong..albeit it was late. The Bama thing...I get that one....Herbstreit in one comment indicated BYU should be held accountable for their beating in the conference championship and then later stated Bama should get a free pass for their bad showing. This one smells bad and is wny I don't believe any conference should be affiliated with ESPN/ABC/Disney. Without question I believe that to be a conflict of interest.
  21. Good news for the Hoosiers. Omar is critical!! He deserves to be there!!
  22. Articles out there to read. Give Google a shot.
  23. Not going to look them all up, but Iowa State players absolutely had a voice. (According to the Des Moines Register) Teams in Big 12 are all being fined by their conference for boycotting bowls
  24. Packers won so he’s in a good mood. Now Coach…that’s a different story….
