For Gibson southern vs Whiteland. All tickets must be purchased ahead of time. No sales at the gate. 50% capacity is allowed right now. 400 tickets remain and they go on sale tomorrow at 8am. I have to imagine that most of this season there will be no gate sales and it will be a “purchase in advance” thing the week of the games

Lol I’m just saying in the grand scheme of things for a smaller team looking to build momentum to start a season, having GS was rough. Would have at least been better as a mid to late season game but week 1 was rough. Glad we have the new PAC where teams have the flexibility for their schedules. Also gives some of the smaller schools a chance to develop a tradition. Especially for a team like pike central who has just been down for a bit and wasn’t given much of a chance to get some enthusiasm to get more kids out playing. I personally think the small PAC is going to be the most fun to watch as I think that there will be more competition and say over a 10 year period there could be 4/5 conference champions.

Exactly. And many of us have to recognize that for the previous 8 years GS has opened the season with an average of like 56-6 victory over forest Park and about the same vs south Spencer...in games where the score was 28/35-0 in the 2nd quarter and still growing...we have been so accustomed to GS starting the season strong that it’s surprising to see a loss before week 4

To add on to what T32 has said, I believe GS had 10 or so drives and only 2 were 3 and outs. But otherwise we basically moved the ball 25 on average before stalling. And I don’t even want to know how many dropped passes there were that would be put us in CN territory. outcome probably doesn’t change and you can’t get away from the fact that they ran for nearly 400 yards...but the offense will probably be just fine going forward as they continue to mesh and get the chemistry. That’s why I say I wouldn’t be surprised if the game is more high scoring. Hopefully not. Would like to not see Whiteland running at will lol

I see the comments about Whiteland and sure they might be a good Whiteland team....I’m just not sure it’s going to be one of those where they can name the score. GS can move the ball and did so vs Columbus North. the problem GS had was they couldn’t stop the run....which is where Whiteland succeeds. don’t be surprised if this is a higher scoring game. Uphill battle for Gs for sure though. Can’t give up 300/400 rushing yards and expect to win lol. That just doesn’t happen

I mean. Brady Allen finished with 20-37 for 211 yards and 1 touchdown No turnovers. Opening possession they were first and goal at the 1 and were stopped. The game played out where GS was able to move the ball a little bit. Then they got to midfield and were forced to punt. CN then was able to just run run run and put another TD up. Score says it was a blowout but it was more of a steady feed of scores from CN instead of GS being completely unable to do anything.

4 sophomores on the OL bodes well for the next few years! Having that chemistry will make for an easy life for whoever is under center or running the ball.

Well I know 1 thing is for certain. When the titans face off vs the patriots.....nobody is going to be caring about the win loss record lol. Sleep on the either team and they will send you home with a loss

Well I can’t say as a GS fan I expected princeton to win 😂😂😉. mt Vernon over Heritage hills is a bit of a shock but HH is replacing a lot so there will be some growing pains. For the first few games

Haha. At this point in this season? Probably not. But the team has faced a lot of that the past few years so I’m sure we got something for it. Facing Wing T, Flexbone, Wishbone, and any other variation...it’s definitely one of those things where experience vs those offenses is important.

Oh man Lawrenceburg and Knox lost too? Those two teams I know had some good hype for this season tough week for 3A for sure

Agreed. im not too worried about the boys though. The team absolutely has the confidence in that they can compete for a 3A title. Take the loss, learn from it, get better. I would definitely be worried had we lost by a larger margin and had been sloppy. But having shown we could move the offense vs CN that bodes very well for when we get into conference and sectional play. Whiteland is going to be interesting...they appear to be the 5A equivalent of a Southridge or Brownstown central with all the motion and running they do. Tall task considering we allowed 395 rushing yards last night

I mean. I don’t think GS is particularly concerned with those 2 right now at all. Focused on Whiteland first Surprised to see HH lose. expected boon to win big though

I think it’s a combination of the lack of offseason and facing a very good running team early. For the past 7 seasons or so GS has traveled to Alabama and other states to compete in 7on7s which usually had the team in sync on the playbook and the coverages down. Even without that. The final result with the pass game was pretty solid considering the lack of reps at this point. as for the run defense. Definitely has been something teams have been able to exploit at times over the past few years. But that has been HH with the wish/flexbone and southridge with their wing T not sure what CN ran tonight but it worked rushing for 396 yards (yikes). definitely will want to see how things play out with Whiteland (Next week) and Southport (week 4). After Week 4 we should really know how GS is sitting. edit: didn’t address the Guerin thing but maybe CN is just a better team this year than the previous years (I haven’t checked to see how well they were in previous years)

Yep but we knew what we signed up for. im impressed that we had 0 turnovers. Brady finished with 20-37 for 202 and a score. Radio call sounded like he was on point throwing the ball and only a few close calls with defenders, just a few in and out of the hands I think everyone at GS knows the uphill battles we face this year and gotta believe that for the most part we are content coming out with I believe no injuries and having played a pretty clean game. on to Whiteland!

48-6 Columbus North over Gibson Southern not a pretty score at all but hey I’ll take it knowing that GS had no turnovers and few penalties. Showed that they can move the ball against good competition. need to clean up stuffing the run on defense but it’s week 1 after a crazy offseason with an inability to travel to the numerous 7on7s they have in previous seasons. On to Whiteland who is currently tied with Columbus East. Hopefully we see some improvements. Tough sledding but it should be worth it
