  1. I would also look to the SEC with LSU/Alabama. historically they were ground and pound teams. But when you have the QB talent to trust and the receivers around him, you gotta make that change. no doubt burrows/tua were elite college players so we can’t just say any team can do it. But it’s certainly possible and maybe the QB is better than what we think if he starts getting the chance to throw it 30 times a game
  2. Stuff like this is why 3A is the best
  3. Facts are facts but they don’t show context “Brady U” is 0-2 in terms of making it out of sectionals 1-2 overall in all games played (2 vs HH 1 vs memorial) BOTH losses were to teams that finished 14-1. Both were phenomenal teams. Last years HH game was lost because HH made a great play to block a FG inside the 10 as time expired. Final score was 21-20 there isn’t an issue with playing in the playoffs for Gibson Southern. They bring great teams that compete. The only “issue” is that they have lost the last 3 years to 1 state champion and 2 runner ups who combined to have a 42-3 record and all were ranked top 3 in 3A. 2012 Loss to chatard (champion) 2013 loss to Brebeuf (runner up) 2014 loss to Heritage hills (Regional champ) 2015 loss to Chatard ( Champion) 2016 Loss to memorial (regional champ) 2017 loss to memorial (champion) 2018 loss to memorial (runner up) 2019 loss to Heritage Hills (runner up) 6/8 losses to teams that make it to LOS. ive said it before....the hump for Gibson Southern is to be the BEST 3A team. They are a top 5 3A team every year. But outside of maybe 2015 they haven’t been the BEST 3A team...and that’s the hump they have been trying to get over.
  4. That’s a very strong squad returning 👀 would 100% throw their hat into the mix for 3A
  5. Gibson southern lost a good bunch to graduation too. I believe 16 or so. But they return a good chunk of the OL (an OL that on paper looks like will average 6’2 270 just glancing at maxpreps) also have Allen. Will be interesting. Gibson Southerns schedule is going to be tough though. They effectively will go from an average of like 620 students per opponent to I believe just over 1100 in 1 year. if they can play well and stay healthy through the season, they should have a good shot of making it out of sectionals....which if I recall, they have lost to someone who was either the champion or runner up 3 of the last 4 years. anyone got thoughts on Lawrenceburg? I believe they still have a very talented dual threat QB.
  6. PAC probably has a few sneaky guys who make it onto FCS scene. Would have loved to see that Southridge kid still playing football. But hey when you have a shot to play in the MLB....that’s pretty fantastic outside of that...Braden Tucker for Gibson Southern is a guy who could make a splash for the PAC for 2021. Kid is 6’5 310 lbs. He visited Cincy last year for a game so he is definitely on the radar for schools at the FBS level. if you like seeing pancakes, he’s got a few on display lol http://www.hudl.com/v/2CegaL
  7. I just mentioned him in the Purdue thread here. I watched a number of games last year and thought he did great but looking at his highlight tape....HE CATCHES EVERYTHING! Kid is more talented than I realized https://youtu.be/FiSApKD82WA
  8. I’m not sure if it’s already been talked about here as I don’t come to this thread too much and don’t want to search through it (sorry).... but David bell might just be the best WR in terms of contested catching that I have seen. I was just looking at some Moore film for fantasy football purposes and then switched to bell and tbh....I think bell is a better WR. The guy can just catch anything thrown his way no matter how hard the catch is. https://youtu.be/FiSApKD82WA
  9. I think we are looking at a 7-2 6-3 season realistically. I think there will be a loss early on with that slate....then Southridge/HH will be tough. I believe there is the potential to be 9-0 by seasons end but I think that will be a bit of a reach. last I heard there were 5-7 starters returning. OL I believe is still in good shape and brady will be a junior with at least 1 WR he is familiar with not too concerned about replacing guys because many of the guys coming up already rotated in last year and many seen action when the game was a blowout. So there is some experience. definitely will be a tough schedule this year. All of SW indiana will be fun to watch with the new conference alignments and schedules
  10. Arrowhead lol. 100% Kimberly Must have got a big knock because they couldnt repeat as 6 or 7 time champions for 208/2019 while posting 12 wins season. 5 straight wasn’t good enough 😉
  11. I’m personally a big fan of the Southridge helmets Also liked the Charlestown Pirates design...although I believe they switched to a white helmet and I was a fan of the Blue helmet they had white helmets are generally sleek. I love the current GIbson Southern helmet vs what I had when I was in high school. But for the the topic of this thread I certainly wouldn’t include it in the list.
  12. Caden Curry has picked up an offer from Ohio State it seems. probably the best school to go to if you are playing on the DL and want to perfect the craft of attacking the QB
  13. West Virginia has offered Brady Allen now. It would appear the BIG 12 has taken notice of him and doesn’t want the B1G to get all the attention haha
  14. I hate funchess with a passion lol we took 0 WRs in maybe the best WR class all time and WR was our biggest need. what a complete joke. Our only “weapon” for Rodgers is a TE/FB and the RB can’t pass catch. Im so upset. I was so hopeful for a rookie WR I could stand behind and cheer for
  15. We took a FB/TE with a 6th round grade while Hopkins and the Bryant’s we’re still there. we grabbed a mini Derrick henry because lafluer has a Chubb for that kinda thing I guess take a LB after nearly all are gone best wr class ever. Biggest need for a WR ever. and we are going into the 6th without a new WR hoping for people’s Jones/juaun johnson this is what it’s like to be a bears fan
  16. Crying party at my house in Green Bay. Come one come all. Post crying we will march to Gutes house
  17. Taking an off ball linebacker in the 1st is rarely worth it so I get why we didn’t do that. I thought it was for Mims or Higgins. after time to digest this is a move that is smart so we don’t have to have a tank season or have a rough transition period like the patriots since they sold their heir in jimmy G. its still tough to swallow. in 2022 will I love see Love bloom and becoming the face of the franchise absolutely. But right now. It’s just a tough pill to swallow and basically says we are looking for more of a miracle Super Bowl run. hoping we trade up to grab Higgins or mims. Maybe even Claypool. Antonio Gandy-Golden is also a steal. I’ve been hyping him for weeks. Malik Harrison OSU is a LB I’m looking at that I would appreciate taking. Otherwise maybe Evan Weaver late. this draft lacks off ball LBs sorely which is why 3 went in the 1st...although I still don’t know why jordyn brooks went in the 1st. THE SILVER LININGS. Trubs is the 5th best QB in the division 😂 If there was any position to trade up for its QB
  18. I would like to start with that I’m crying inside that we drafted a QB with our pick. We drafted a QB for 2022 in 2020. Smh.
  19. Brady Allen picked up an offer from Les Miles and Kansas. interesting offer. Great coach, program potentially opens up very early playing time for him....Big12 defense to feast on lol. current offers Wisconsin, Virginia Tech, Purdue, Indiana, Kansas, Cincy
  20. I’m not sure if it’s been stated as I skimmed this...but while stars are important....location of a prospect in comparison to the stars is also important....many scouts are in the hotbed locations of Texas and Florida....so when you see someone as a 2 star in those areas it’s likely fairly accurate. Numerous scouts have likely reviewed that prospect....especially at bread and butter schools like IMG in Florida or bishop norman in Vegas. when it comes to prospects in Indiana though. Sometimes it takes a while for the scouts to take notice...often they have to travel to combines to extend the reach.....prime example....Joe Strickland (2022 de) out of Brebeuf had a 4 stars all of 2019. Brady Allen just this last week was recognized as a 4 star by rivals and is listed in the top 100. has anything changed? Probably not. Both are great kids and phenomenal athletes. One is just in Indianapolis and the other is in the pocket of Indiana way out of the way so...for many of prospects in this state.....there likely isn’t a difference between 2 and 3, 3 and 4, and possibly even 4 to 5. It’s a matter of exposure and how many scouts actually got to take a look. for schools like ball state, Indiana, Purdue stars matter to an extent but stars are misleading when they are recruiting in state
  21. I have to agree if I was a QB...brohm makes a really appealing case. Just needs to keep the recruits coming and the results will be there. Purdue has been fun to watch...even when the wins are not there side note....highly unlikely coan is the starter this upcoming season imo
  22. Lol that’s what people think but Wisconsin historically doesn’t land top recruits at QB. Over the last 10 years or so...if a QB starts all games for them (so 12-14) they finish usually with 2400-2800 yards on about 320 ish attempts...which is about 22 attempts per game on 14 games played. Graham Mertz though...he was a top 5 QB recruit. The reason hornibrook transferred to FSU was because he thought Mertz would come in as a fresh and play. But it was Coan. I would expect to be surprised this upcoming season in just how pass happy wisconsin becomes. Ground game will still be great but watch what happens when there is a high level recruit behind one of the best OLs year in and year out.
  23. Agreed.... it’s the same argument every year. Really, people just need to understand that the top of each conference can generally compete with other teams in the top of their conference with exceptions here and there. One exception being 2018 memorial was just a league above everyone until they played WL in an absolute thriller of a game. there are others but it’s really only super special teams that only come around once in a while. on the topic of 2020. I think VL and jasper likely finish mid table. They win a few games they lose some. Won’t be the best won’t be the worst. Definitely think they will surprise 1 or 2 teams and pull an “upset”....but also maybe lose a game we all think they should have walked away with. I personally believe we will see something like this last season in which nobody goes undefeated and overall it’s a pretty competitive conference. If I had to guess now I would say memorial +1 other team will be 8-1 entering sectionals
  24. I didn’t want to name names.....👀 I don’t live in GIbson County anymore lol I do respect HH. Just don’t want them winning games vs my former school in anything truth be told I’m not sure where it’s from. I just seen it and had to share here to give you guys a little hassle. It’s offseason. Content is a bit dry.
