North Side? Really? I will repeat for the 498th time, as long as the bozos, er coaches, are still running that joke of a program, they will be a bottom feeder at any level. Carry on -

True dat, just thinking football only. The SAC has teams from 2A to 6A in football, pretty wide disparity that can and does create mismatches in football. Here are the teams, hope I don’t forget anyone: 6A - Carroll, Snider, Homestead, Northrop 5A - North Side 4A - Dwenger, Wayne, South Side 3A - Concordia 2A - Luers In other sports, the large discrepancy in students isn’t as noticeable. -

Well, I can tell you there are basketball conferences in the North part of the state that regularly travel on weeknights to play games 90 minutes away. Football travel is easier as Friday or Saturday night games do not require going to school the following day for the students. Also, that fantasy conference would only require 3 away games for each team and 3 home games for each team. For example, use Snider in the scenario, their 3 out of conference games could be Warren Central, East Noble, and let’s say they want to play Luers. -

Good analysis on these teams. Chatard is legit and East Central has earned the right to be put in the upper echelon of teams. My issues are with Carmel and Decatur Central. I am completely onboard with this being a make or break year for Carmel. They have under achieved for quite a bit of time now and haven’t been a real contender for the 6A title for awhile now. The reasons are quite a few and have been discussed and dissected at length. Put up or shut up time for the Greyhounds. Decatur Central I just don’t get the love for them. What have they done to deserve this. Certainly not been a short or long term state title contender. While they had a very good year last year, it has not been due to sustained success like East Central. I was not impressed by their offense in the least against Snider last year and having watched them play earlier in the playoffs, I wasn’t impressed then either. They had a pretty good defense, but they took advantage of a pretty weak South bracket last year. -

Decatur Central and East Central should flip spots, I would also flip Chatard and Carmel -

Been saying for awhile that Snider, Carroll, Homestead, and Dwenger may need to look elsewhere for competitive games. What I am saying is the rest of the SAC teams do nothing for them. -

Biggest difference between Snider and Homestead when playing Indy teams is confidence and belief. Penn is almost in the same boat as Homestead when it comes to Indy teams. As far as rooting for Homestead goes, nah I’ll pass. I will root for every team in the SAC to beat Sparty, can’t stand that school. Hard for me to say the words, that means I would root for Dwenger against Sparty. Blah!!! I went to a Snider vs. Homestead game a few years ago at Homestead and I remember walking into the stadium and wanting to just leave. -

I believe that as well, but there have been multiple head coaches at Homestead over the years yet the same mentality exists. I can buy the stereotypes you stated to a point, but there is diversity at Homestead. From someone who attended Snider in the 80’s, there was a genuine hatred from Snider towards Homestead in sports we played them in. We didn’t play them in football very often, if at all, when I was there. The arrogance and the “we are better than you cause we have money” BS attitude was prevalent. I have always looked at Homestead in football as Charmin soft. Hit them in the mouth, they go away. They are playing Snider tougher though recently, evidenced by their 4-2 record in the last 6 games. Somehow, they need to overcome the mental aspect of playing Indy teams. If they do, they will become a bigger factor in 6A football. Look at Carroll, they have Dinan in as head coach, ex Snider guy, and they are almost a carbon copy of Snider now. Tough, gritty, take no prisoners approach -

Having had brothers and nephews play high school football in Fort Wayne, let me assure you that some teams in this city have a mental block when it comes to playing the teams down South. Heard it with my own ears. 2 of my nephews played at Snider, there was zero intimidation about the Panthers playing Indy teams. Another nephew played at Homestead, he just ranted about how big the school they were playing, how fast they looked on film, they were beat before the game was even played. I would say one of the biggest jobs of a coach is to get his team ready to play regardless of who they are playing. Homestead sees Snider across the field, they are locked in, doesn’t matter the records at the time. Anything south past Aboite township, forget about it, it’s a wrap -

Thinking the coaching change at Penn will pay dividend's quickly. Every time Snider plays Penn it is a toss up. Got to be a mental thing with Indy based teams for Penn, though Indy based teams have most everyone’s number -

If you are going to quote me, then do it right. I said Notre Dame is ranked high every year despite results and recruiting every year, Warren’s reference was for last year only as Warren has been a great team for a long time, last year was awful for them hence my rant about why they are being ranked so high College and high school are completely different, I clearly explained why Rankings as far as Warren’s record last year, especially being 0-7 against .500 or above teams is relevant and you know it I do believe Penn is better than CP hence my ranking -

Penn should have beaten CP last year and gave the game away. Just think Penn is better as the 2024 season starts. Would have thought I would have been questioned on everything else in my rankings… -

Merrillville for me is a show me school. They have to win before I buy anything with them. I know they beat Valpo in regionals last year and that guaranteed Snider going to State. Yes, I knew Snider was going to beat Merrillville easily. Valpo would have given Snider a much better game. Warsaw is very dangerous and might be my favorite to represent the North in 5A -

Uh no… You know better than that. Man, what is so hard for you to understand? Warren was 0-7 against teams above .500 last year yet you want to give them credit towards this year for that. Who did they beat last year? College football is a totally different beast than high school and you are smarter than that. NIL has ruined college football and players go to the highest bidder, period. Hell, you can play at 4 schools in 4 years and make bank. Each year in college football is its own entity. -

Notre Dame is the most overrated team in college football every damn year. Top 5 recruiting class every year and it amounts to jack crap. 30+ years since a national title and let me assure you it will be at least another 30 years till another one. Preseason rankings should be based on where teams finished the previous year unless there is a team with special circumstances, like a key player returning from injury, a boatload of proven transfers, etc… I will say this, Warren might go undefeated this year and win the state title, they might throttle Snider in week 1, and beat Ben Davis handily, but it won’t change how I feel about a team who was 0-7 against .500 or better teams last year and is given a top 5 ranking. It just won’t… -
