  1. Hang out with a few basketball coaches and see if that changes your opinion. Actually I don't think it is one sport more selfish than the other, it comes down to the individual head coaches.
  2. I know. It stinks. I don't know if there is even a problem or a solution. It's just something that I've noticed and discussed with people the last few years.
  3. Even some those are down in numbers. Look at scouts. Major problems with enrollment, my sons local scouts disbanded.
  4. I'm fine with ESports because at least kids are involved in a club/actvity.
  5. This is the best comment so far. I think society as a whole has changed interests and have found other things to occupy our time.
  6. Even in rural communities, the number of kids working on farms is way down. Talk to farmers, they have went to big round bails for hay because they can not get teens to bail hay.
  7. I am participation drops in rural schools in a number of activities. So I don't know if the 1 high school community argument holds water. Statistically speaking as well, teen age participation in the labor market is at an all time low. Less high school kids work an after school job than previous generations.
  8. I would hear stories about my grandparents being apart of bowling leagues, lodges, women’s clubs, and many social clubs. I was talking about this the other day with a friend how are generation is not involved in social outings like past generations. You’re absolutely right, we are definitely more insular.
  9. I live in SE Indiana and work with four schools. I also keep tabs with former teachers and friends I worked with in Northern Indiana. A general pattern that seems to be developing in a malaise or apathy from student bodies. Numbers in many extracurriculars are down. A few students at most places seem to be doing the heavy lifting of keeping clubs and activities going. Not all this is on the students either. Teachers aren't as involved as a result of workloads. Parents are overworked and don't seem to push students into sports or clubs. I am sure this is a great sociology case study into this somewhere. What can be done to turn this around? Those schools that aren't experiencing this, what is the secret.
  10. Is there a training facility/football club in the Michiana that is like what Fort Wayne has with AWP and some of the other places in Indianapolis for Michiana athletes. As a region football and other sports have seem to be sliding compared to the other areas of the state.
  11. Bremen is on a lose one win one streak to start the season. It is time for the Lions to lose one once again. Jimtown has Bremen's number even when Bremen may have had the better team in games the last few years, Jimtown always wins. Jimtown 35 Bremen 22 Elkhart wins this one but I think it will be close 27-22. Glenn should handle Knox, but I don't know what happened to the Falcons last weak. 34-20 New Prairie isn't going to lose 2 in a row, right? 35-17 Adams and Marian is gonna be interesting. Marian seems to be starting to click. Knights over Eagles 35-30 Washington Mattawan
  12. Bremen beat Triton 35-7. Trojans committed 7 turnovers. The game was a lot closer than that, turnovers set Bremen up with short drives. I like that big running back from Triton, that kid was a stud. He reminded somewhat of Zander Horvath from Marian who is now at Purdue. Coach Younis has a good club, they will be a tough match up in their sectional.
  13. Bremen should have a full roster this week for the first time, and Coach Leeper should be back from quarantine for the first time in 2 weeks.
  14. Did anyone mention how out of state games don’t get factored in.
  15. Matt Kopsea from RRSN preditions. Matt's Matchups
  16. Bremen is dealing with a round of quarantines with some of its players. Not sure how many are out, I know of 2.
  17. Good article on Penn in the South Bend Tribune today. SB Tribune
  18. I haven't seen Penn in person, but watching highlights from there games, I am shocked at how small they are. Past Penn teams where massive in size and towered over opponents.
  19. Hammond Central over Clay Elkhart over Morton Jimtown right? Have to find some offense Glenn over the Indians Lowell over NP Bremen pulls it out- Lions get two solid player back from Covid Cathedra Adams Washington
  20. Thumbs up to LaVille, played extremely short handed due to Covid issues against a fiesty Triton team and pulled it out 7-0 in OT.
