Its a long drive.....time to live like most of the conferences in Indiana. See above the PAC has figured it out....why can't Penn? Probably schedule those games for a Saturday in your other sports. Long drives aren't stopping schools with way less resources than Penn from finding a conference with more balanced competion.

Exactly.... Correct me if I'm wrong, but Penn only has one conference opponent in another county....and its Elkhart. Which is probably a 30 minute drive tops.

The travel times would be comparable or even shorter than several other conferences in Indiana. My guess is the longest drive would be to LC....a shade under 2 hours depending on traffic (which is long). Most DAC schools are closer. Penn has lived in the cocoon of never having to drive across more than one couny line for an NIC game for several decades. Get over yourselves.... Do you know how many conferences extend across 4 or more counties? Do you know what conference Richmond is in???? Do you know which schools are in the Sagamore conference??? Do you know what the driving time is from Carmel to Center Grove on a weeknight with 465 traffic? Give me a break....

As a travel sports parent....you've gotta love combinations of "cash only" entry fee, combinded with the "no cash" concessions 😁

Would that allow Carroll (Flora) to co-op with Logansport? I don't know the details of the original proposal, so honestly asking... I also don't think either of those schools have any interest in consolidating into one program....I just looked at someone just under 300 (Carroll) and picked a larger nearby school (LPort). Personally, I'm in favor of small schools being able to co-op......just giving an opinion on why some folks might vote against it ("It's too hard!")

Probably the difficulty of the IHSAA to define "small" schools. I assume they don't want a rule that could feasibly allow LC/LN or HSE/FISH, or Cathedral/Roncalli (that would be a reality show!), or all South Bend public schools to decide to co-op. Which I would agree is not the intent of co-op. I'm not saying I think it should be difficult....just that the IHSAA might think it would be too "hard". That seems to be a factor in many IHSAA decisions

Hypothetical: Coach Smith works at ProTripperHoops Athletic Center (the PTHAC...pronounced THAK!) Coach Smith is an extremely succesfull travel sportsball coach. His teams compete nationally. Coach Smith's son, Coach Jr (CJ for short), attends CenterBurg suburban metro high school (located in the same town as PTHAC)...where CJ is a highly recurited sportsball star. CJ's freshman year, they lose in the semistate to MetroHigh. Coach Smith decides to pay another highly recruited sportsball star, Lebron Jordan Manning (LJ for short), to come coach a weekly youth sportsball class at the PTHAC. However, LJ Manning currently lives 2 hours away in Hicksville, but his family decides to move to CenterBurg and they enroll him there. CJ & LJ go on two win 3 consecutive sportsball state titles. Is this OK by the new rules?

My understanding of the "PBA" rule as passed is the school can have no involvement at all.

Different discussion....but for years I've wished the threshold for summer contact practices was SHOULDER PADS...and not include helmets. This way kids could be in helmets anytime they are doing "football". Summer is preseason for football....we are going to be doing football stuff. When you have 20+ kids running around at full speed accidental collisions can happen....kids can fall and bounce their head off the turf. Helmets would protect their head (isn't that the goal?). You aren't going to get "live" contact without shoulder pads. (I realize there are kids who would....any of those kids are gonna probably be apt to do it without a helmet anyway , unless supervised and coached; and they should probably be playing on your defense 😇) rant off

You know how many baseball/softball players wear a girdle/sliding shorts? Its not zero....

My brain was telling me maybe 90 minute drive from Granger to the Fort. I was off.... Not having been there in a long time....I assume Penn to Snider would be the longest drive? Google says about 2 hours...probably significantly longer on Friday at 4-5pm. I assume most of the other "Big" SAC wouldn't be to far off. 2 hours for a contest with "most" of your conference opponents is rough. Ask the MIC and the TH schools. Ask the HCC and the Lafayette schools. Warsaw to a "Big SAC" is much more interesting....

Penn needs to pick up that phone if it rings. Possibly Elkhart and Warsaw as well.

I need at least a dozen.....and then nuke it from orbit, it's the only way to be sure.😇

Does this enrollment release usually coincide with Wrestling and GBB State Finals? That could be a reason for the delay

The first part of my statement was an honest question.....an earlier post seemed to indicate they will pay to get a game scheduled? Is that what was being said. The second part was just that in recent trips, I have heard that IMG "folks" were encouraging some opponent players to take a closer look at their program.
