  1. I believe at one time (into the 90’s?), classification was based on male enrollment in top 3 grades.
  2. My understanding is that his son is the same age, and would've been competing against the Noblesville program...thus he has seen it from that side. I may have read it wrong however.
  3. "Best" Let the audience argue #entertainment
  4. If one were to, lets say, rank the best jobs in Indiana.....what might a person who does rankings come up with? If there were a guy like that on this board🤔 🍿
  5. In college, I got a halftime IV multiple times over my career. This was decades ago, but it was done by the team physician. As a coach, I wouldn't look sideways at it, provided it was done by (and at the discreation of) a physician (not just the ATC). And also with the consent of the parents. As I coach, I wouldn't want to be involved in that at all, but I'd defer to an MD saying "the kid needs it, and the parents approve". ETA: in almost 30 years of coaching, I don't think I've ever seen it done. Not saying it hasn't, we've had a few kids over the years that had diabetic issues and always had to check levels, etc at halftime...possible that was something that the team doc might have done if needed. I'd also ask how many HS teams have an actual medical "doc" available to do this.
  6. Again...not making any opinion on the MtV kids. But what you are describing happens more often than some people would like to admit...I'd argue the reason that a lot of ADs/Admins sign off is that its just not worth the drama/effort that might arise when someone wants to argue the issue. Its a mess...on all sides...IHSAA, admins, parents, etc. In larger metro areas its magnified. I have no solutions to this issue...I want to kids to be able to change schools when it is in fact a better life/academic environment...I also agree with Mr Neidig that anytype of free transfer/portal system would be an even bigger mess for high school sports. The fact that most people in charge of getting this right have a thousand other things on their plate that are arguably more important just makes it worse.
  7. Not offereing an opinion on the situation regarding these atheletes, but all of us in Indy metro need to be thankful Kyle Neddenriep is the primary voice of HS sports here. He is a true asset to what the HS sports experience is within Indy metro. He's balanced, he has the best interests of high school sports (and all that fits in that umbrella) in mind when he goes to work each day. I don't know that I've always agreed with everything he's written....but I've never seen any evidence he wasn't putting high school kids first in what, I'm sure, is a job with a lot of hours and pay that doesn't match the work he does. Can't say the same for the other guy...
  8. You're right....I should have said Rossville.
  9. So "Someone" made a choice to go p/p instead of public. (Don't disagree with your other than that it just shows that its not always the kid being "recruited".) Lets use a blatent action of recruiting as an example: Nefarious Indy Metro 6A coach "recruits" Mikey away from Hickville 2A...don't you think Mikey's parents also have to be on board with making this move? Traditional "Everyone Supports it for the right reasons" example: Lets say 14 year old Lucy is a suzamaphone music prodigy at Hickville high, she doesn't want to go there with no orchestra, she has been to Indy Roseary Super Catholic music camp and wants to go there, you don't think one of Lucy's parents are the actual decision makers in that move? I stand by my statement. And again I'm using "recurited" in quotations to show how stupid my public school brethren are when they throw it around as an athletic thing. EVERY kid at P/P is somehow a recruit...AND THAT IS OK!! They chose p/p because of something they thought was better than the public offereing...AND THAT IS OK!!! Our academic system provides these options for families...AND THAT IS A GOOD THING!!
  10. Non profit's still have bills to pay😇 For the record I wish the State Finals was still carried on "traditional" TV broadcast.
  11. 1 Cornithians 1:9 God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of His Son Jesus Christ our Lord I'd say the big guy is the best recruiter money can't buy!!! 👍 There is an important reason I put "recurited" in quotations......My point is just that EVERY student, at ANY p/p, has made a decision to attend that school over the public school option due to any number of factors...the "system" I refer to, is the system of p/p options that all families have over their public school offering. The "system" = If I don't like my public option, I can go to p/p. Every kid at a p/p has opted for that choice in our educational "system". Some kids go to p/p's for faith, some for athletics, some for better academics...the point is, whether the kid plays football, soccer, or plays in the orchestra...or does nothing except academics....they were drawn to the p/p over their public offering for a reason. I'm actually taking the p/p side on this part of the debate, so I'm unsure why any p/p folks would get defensive😁
  12. The "recruiting" thing I always felt was a red herring...EVERY kid at a P/P is a recruit. Thats the whole point of the system! I'll respond with a quote I've used for decades (can't remember the source, and I'm paraphrasing): "This issue isn't the kids that P/P's have to count for enrollement....it's the kids the P/P's will never have to count that publics always have to count."
  13. I still hate the idea of bumping a team that hasn't won a title
  14. If I looked into my crystal ball....I think this is a possible outcome of a possible realignment: North HCC/MIC/Whatever Carmel Fishers HSE Noblesville North Central Westfield Zionsville South HCC/MIC/Whatever Avon Ben Davis Brownsburg Center Grove Franklin Central Warren Central Would these get sprinkled in?: Cathedral (it could happen😁) Cbus North DC LC LN Pike My Crystal Ball also plays endless South Park and Reno 911 reruns...so there's that
  15. Some where in the GID basement is a thread on conference realignment...I believe I have a post in there where I predicted a 6A Indy Metro conference realignment on the horizon...how far I don't know. My prediction was that there ends up being some type of HCC "North" and an HCC "South"/Realigned MIC. I still feel like that happens in the foreseable future. Some of the HCC "schools" were interested in adding Carmel. Several HCC "coaches" (not football) pushed back hard. I think the money Carmel brings to the gate revenue in a variety of sports may eventually win out... Short version of my old post is that I can forsee and HCCish conference on the south side forming and peeling some MIC/HCC schools off. I could then see the original HCC "north" schools adding some old MIC members. As has been mentioned, there is always a chance the HCC grows so much they split into a "North/South" division (I personally don't find that as likely). Understand, I have not vote on this and its only my vibe based on conversations with a lot of HCC/Indy area coaches in multiple sports. My 2 cents, maybe worth less than that👍
  16. From a school wide/all sports perspective they both benefit from being in a conference. Football is easier to be independent for a number of reasons...it makes it more difficult in almost every other sport.
  17. Good point...but how long will they be independent?....I'd bet $50 its less than 5 years. I'd bet a $1,000 that its less than 10.
  18. I agree Warsaw would be a great venue…but I bet it’s an hour closer to Carroll than CP. Penn is a much better middle ground if that is supposed to be a goal
  19. Have you ever been to the Rock Pile!???🤣 The capacity there would be absolutely inadequate for the number of people CP/FWC would bring to that game, the visitors side is way to small (despite being a “neutral” site..one team has to be the “visitors”) Penn would be the proper location.
  20. I also wish the roster limit would at least go up. For many of the reasons discussed above... But as an aside...from a logistical stand point, it is very tight at LOS for the State Finals even for the limited roster. Bus parking at LOS, locker rooms (which are sized for a fifity something NFL roster), etc make space an issue at LOS. Some big 6A schools would need 4 buses for their whole roster and significantly more locker room space than is available at LOS. In the past I know several HCC/MIC schools have just used the large open convention spaces as a "locker room" due to how small the actual locker rooms are.
  21. Keep in mind, due to the number and structure of contests, your "conference" does not have as large an effect on your schedule outside of football. Football has 9 regular season games, if you are in an 8 team conference...you have two non-conf games. Thats it. Some sports compete in a vareity of Invite/Tourney formats....lots of opportunity to compete against state wide talent. (XC, Wrestling, Track, etc) Some sports may have 20+ regular season contests....a lot more opportunity for non-conf competition. (Baseball, Basketball, Volleyball, etc) A bad conference set up CAN have a more significant impact on your football program than most other sports.
  22. What if we just called changed the term "sectional" to "district" and then seeded them.... Based upon Sagarin, W-L, or some other voodoo Thats probably blasphemy
  23. Must have had the same crew we had recently🤣
  24. You still try to peak at your Christmas presents too….dont ya?🤣 (I kid)
